Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

After a brief examination, Wen Yu turned back to look upwards, but Nightmare and Darkness Puppet’s warning came from above.

”Master, Uxas is catching up.”

Wen Yu was not surprised; Uxas pursuing them was expected. However, the crisis had already been resolved, and no matter how skilled Uxas was, he couldn’t conjure a second Origin Extraction Device.

This place, on the other hand, seemed like a suitable burial ground...

Thinking this, Wen Yu stopped his upward movement and remained in place, waiting for Uxas’s arrival.

...

The gap between Wen Yu in his flesh body state and Uxas was apparent. When Wen Yu sensed Uxas’s intense energy, Uxas was already in his line of vision.

Still clad in the high-class black armor, upon seeing Wen Yu, Uxas immediately halted his steps. He first examined the shattered obstacle mechanism behind Wen Yu, then glanced at the faint boundary of the Soul Battlefield ahead.

Under the shared perspective of the Soul Puppet and the Creator, the Demon Spirit in the Demon Realm received Uxas’s visual signal first.

”Failed as expected...”

A low murmur escaped Uxas’s lips, followed by a burst of gray light from his eyes, and he instantly charged into the Soul Battlefield!

Seeing this, Wen Yu snorted disdainfully.

Inside the Soul Battlefield, even with Uxas’s strength increased ninefold, Wen Yu was not afraid at all—after all, the Origin Extraction Device issue was resolved, so a rematch with Uxas could be considered leisure after a successful mission.

However, just as Wen Yu entered the Soul Battlefield, he suddenly heard a strange cracking sound behind him...

”Crunch~~”

It sounded like something shattering, and upon hearing it, Wen Yu paused. Within his sensing range, the shattered top obstacle mechanism completely crumbled, turning into dust on the ground. Amidst the floating dust, a palm-sized, syringe-like peculiar container shot out, aimed at the deep layers below. In an instant, it punctured the ground, and the container buried itself in the earth, disappearing without a trace.

The sudden change made Wen Yu’s smile freeze, his mind racing with thoughts, only to ultimately conclude he had fallen into a trap.

Before Wen Yu could respond, Uxas had already reached him.

...

On one hand, there was the Demon Spirit’s unknown tactic, and on the other, the sudden assault from Uxas. Wen Yu faced a difficult choice at this moment.

However, the choice was not in Wen Yu’s hands.

The syringe-like container drilled straight toward Earth’s nucleus, its speed even faster than the earlier Origin Extraction Device’s. Meanwhile, Uxas, chasing straight ahead, used an entirely desperate fighting style to entangle Wen Yu. With Chaos Energy surging, Wen Yu felt the pressure doubling.

His flesh body was right beneath; the risk of disengaging the Soul Battlefield was too great. If the Soul Battlefield were disengaged, Uxas could very well unleash Chaos Energy to dissolve Wen Yu’s flesh body, thus under such circumstances, dealing with Uxas’s attack required Wen Yu’s full attention.

”Nightmare, come down and help me!”

One cannot focus on two things at once, but Wen Yu was not alone.

Upon receiving Wen Yu’s spiritual fluctuation, Nightmare immediately floated up and hurried downward.

...

When Nightmare arrived on the battlefield, Wen Yu and Uxas’s soul bodies were fiercely engaged. From the scene, Wen Yu seemed to have a slight upper hand, yet Uxas’s Chaos Energy made it impossible for Wen Yu to cause any damage.

”Master?”

Nightmare cautiously asked, fearing Wen Yu might aggressively have him entangle Uxas— that would be risking its own life...

Fortunately, Wen Yu had high hopes for Nightmare’s potential and wouldn’t easily abandon this rare emotion-based Soul Abiogenetic Creation.

”There’s a palm-sized black container, drilling into the Earth’s nucleus. You rush over and stop it.”

Wen Yu quickly issued the command, and upon hearing the details, Nightmare exhaled heavily with relief, then headed straight through the battlefield.

Nightmare, like a misty cloud, completely disregarded the battle ripples between the two soul bodies. Upon seeing Nightmare’s arrival, Uxas even launched an attack to clear away this minion. However, the attack passed straight through, as Uxas in soul state was powerless against Soul Abiogenetic Creations.

When Nightmare crossed the battlefield and entered the small hole left by the unknown device, Uxas’s eyes flickered with gray light, then instantly calmed.

Slicing through incoming bullets, Uxas looked at Wen Yu ahead, enveloped in black light, with a disdainful sneer at the corner of his mouth.

”How naive...”

...

Nightmare traversed quickly through the dim hole, which was smooth and narrow, perhaps only as wide as an adult’s two fingers. As an emotion-based creation, Nightmare had no physical form and moved like a stream of air, rushing downward through the void.

In the narrow, enclosed environment, Nightmare couldn’t sense any air presence. Luckily, air wasn’t necessary for Nightmare’s existence, but the heat remained unbearable.

Nightmare, after all, was personally arranged by the Demon Spirit as one of the gatekeeping bosses. Although not as powerful as Uxas, Nightmare was as capable as Wajil. In other words, in terms of strength, Nightmare ranked just below Tang Haofei and Wen Yu on Earth. Such strength meant that even extreme heat couldn’t threaten Nightmare.

After moving for an indeterminate amount of time, torrential sounds surfaced ahead. Seeing the red glow flickering, Nightmare hesitated for a moment but resolutely charged into the magma ahead. When the Demon Realm’s Gate first descended, Tang Haofei soaked in magma, so naturally, Nightmare could as well.

Through the flames boiling its body, Nightmare quickly found traces of the unknown device.

The trailing flame lingering in the magma resembled a dark line, marking the unknown device’s path. From these traces, Nightmare was shockingly familiar with some elements...

It was none other than the aura of Creation Energy!

Nightmare’s heart skipped, a possibility flashing through its mind...

”No way...”

...

Above, the skirmish between Wen Yu and Uxas continued, but Wen Yu’s face suddenly changed drastically at a certain moment. Dodging Uxas’s attack, he swiftly darted to the side, glaring coldly at Uxas in front of him, shouting angrily.

”You!”

Yet the word barely left his mouth before Wen Yu swallowed it back. The conflict between the Demon Realm and Earth was irreconcilable, making any tactics from the Demon Spirit unsurprising!

”Haha, you seem to have figured it out...”

Uxas’s tone differed from before, signaling to Wen Yu that the body Uxas controlled now possibly belonged to the Demon Spirit itself.

”But what’s the point of guessing?”

Just as these words fell, Uxas launched another desperate attack on Wen Yu. With the giant sword swinging and firearms roaring, Wen Yu grew more anxious, while Uxas remained unhurried.

Even though the fusion of light and dark had time limits, the Demon Spirit knew its methods well. The Spirit of Fear’s notorious speed couldn’t catch up with its last resort!

Five minutes later, the gray light surrounding Uxas dimmed, his attacks weakened until the gray light vanished, and Uxas faced the bullets head-on, casually lowering his giant sword.

”Alright, no more playing with you. By the way, I must say, I’m looking forward to meeting you next time...”

Bang!

The sudden burst of bullets shredded Uxas’s armor, instantly tearing apart flesh and causing bone to vanish.

For this, Wen Yu didn’t spare a glance, silently holstered his gun, and his body turned into a black light, vanishing into the hole below in an instant.
