Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Is there any Esoteric Level skill?”

As a member here, the Earth Puppet knows more than Zhang Changong.

”Esoteric Level skills are rare. As far as I know, this month’s auction seems to have no Esoteric Level skills available.”

”What, do you sell Esoteric Level skills on a schedule? Or are they only available during the holidays...”

Wang Jie joked with a smile, but the Earth Puppet replied meticulously.

”Not at all, it depends on the master’s acquisitions. If viewed in terms of time, it’s entirely random.”

Once again hearing the name ”master,” Wang Jie had a different feeling this time — one who can casually spend hundreds of thousands of Level 6 magic crystals to buy strange items, auction Esoteric Level skill scrolls, and make others dare not call him by name, but only as master.

Perhaps this is what they call a powerful expert...

Wang Jie was filled with emotion; the Earth Puppet glanced at Wang Jie as if unintentionally and said.

”If you need Esoteric Level skills, there is actually another way.”

”What method?”

”Million Victories Arena.”

”Oh?”

Wang Jie furrowed his brow.

”Tell me more.”

”Million Victories Arena is a dueling ground. The master’s profession is a Soul Master, and the original intent of establishing Million Victories Arena was merely to provide the energetic mutant beasts with a normal outlet and to select some potential mutant beasts as candidates for the master’s soul pets. However, with the opening of Star of Africa, Million Victories Arena has instead become the most favored Cave of Gold for outsiders. The ticket sales, bets, and these have even become the main source of income for Star of Africa...”

”Hmm, it’s pretty much like the ancient beast-fighting arena.”

”That’s right, but the master holds a supportive attitude towards this matter. To select stronger experts, the master has set an incredible reward at Million Victories Arena.”

”A Limit Breakthrough Level skill scroll.”

Upon hearing the words Limit Breakthrough Level skill scroll, Wang Jie simply touched his chin, his expression calm.

”This skill scroll must be hard to obtain...”

”Yes, the condition for taking away the skill is to win consecutively 99 times in Million Victories Arena. From the establishment of this award until now, a total of three years, and no one has taken it yet. But I see your strength... is quite exceptional... maybe you could try.”

The words of the Earth Puppet were full of temptation, Wang Jie thought for a moment and still shook his head.

To fight like a beast in a cage, letting others watch, for a Sequence-class strongman, it’s really a blow to his dignity...

”Thank you, anyway.”

Wang Jie politely smiled at the Earth Puppet, then walked out of the store amid the Earth Puppet’s ”welcome to visit next time.”

...

The pace of a Peak Level 6 professionist is not slow, within an hour, Wang Jie had already taken a stroll around Star of Africa, not only booked a hotel but also visited the government auction house.

From the auction house’s dirt mound, Wang Jie obtained clear information — the auction will be held in three days, but the highest quality auction item is only an SSS-Class skill scroll.

Five years later, and now compared to five years ago is quite different — Breakthrough Achievers are still scarce, but nearly 300 have appeared, most concentrated in Yanjing military forces, a small number in other large gathering places and naturally awakened divine beast species, and since Wang Jie can be classified as a Sequence-class strongman of that class, though not a Breakthrough Achiever, there are merits to be had.

The skills he possesses are all SS-Class and above, and there is even an Esoteric Level skill as a defense measure.

An SSS-Class skill scroll is merely optional for Wang Jie.

After leaving the government auction house, Wang Jie was standing on the bustling street feeling quite helpless, although he knew without major opportunities his strength would be hard to enhance, but with the fame of Star of Africa, Wang Jie always held a bit of expectation...

But it let him down in the end.

Looking at the approaching dusk sky, crazily propelled by a random thought, Wang Jie recalled the words the earth mound said to him at the government skills store.

”Million Victories Arena, it wouldn’t hurt to have a look.”

...

”Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Million Victories Arena!”

Sitting in the Million Victories Arena, which resembled an ancient Roman arena but took up a massive area, listening to the host’s opening speech, amidst the roaring cheers and the frenzied screams from the surroundings, Wang Jie’s blood slowly began to boil — professionists accompany slaughter for eternity, such a brutal scene does indeed awaken certain desires deep within a professionist.

Sensing himself being influenced by the onsite atmosphere, Wang Jie shook his head with a smile, secretly sighing it wasn’t a waste to spend a Level 4 magic crystal on the entrance ticket.

”Welcome friends from around the world, visiting Star of Africa! I am today’s host Mountain Puppet No. 88523! Today’s competitors are the contender winning 11 consecutive matches from the African savannah, Bone Crusher, Barbarian Bull Bagnock! And the contender winning 10 consecutive matches, originating from the Arctic Plains, Fiery Cold Wind, Extreme Bear Griller!”

”Moo~~~”

”Roar!!!”

With the host’s introduction, the gates on both ends of the arena opened thunderously, then, two giant beings at least twenty meters high stepped out from backstage, letting out wild howls that intensified the crowd’s excitement.

And as Wang Jie visited Million Victories Arena for the first time, seeing these two Peak Level 6 mutant beasts, narrowed his eyes lightly.

The winning streaks were just 11 and 10 games, far from the 99 victories. Yet even so, Wang Jie could sense the powerful aura emanating from the two mutant beasts.

An existence that could pose a threat to him!

On his first visit to Million Victories Arena, Wang Jie was slightly stunned by the strength here; these two had barely over ten matches, implying that if it were him, he’d probably be stalled around twenty victories. In sum, reaching 99 victories was simply a chasm like heaven’s barrier.

Wang Jie seemed to see the Limit Breakthrough skill scroll drifting further away from him...

However...

Looking at the two huge beasts below already engaged in a bloody struggle, watching the energy flows and skill aftermaths flying everywhere yet blocked by a defense barrier, Wang Jie felt a surge of warmth in his chest.

The 99 victories might be hopeless, but if he could battle opponents of this caliber daily, surely there would be some gain, however big or small, right?

With this thought, Wang Jie’s fighting spirit naturally erupted, and the surrounding onlookers felt as though the atmosphere froze, yet they didn’t know what transpired.

Focused on watching the duel, Wang Jie was oblivious to the aura he was giving off, merely immersing in the contest of two giant beasts whose power level was nearly akin to his until he sensed, vaguely, a gaze sweep towards him from afar...

As if a wild beast focused on him, then like a splash of cold water poured over him, merely a glance gave Wang Jie an intensely dangerous illusion, the gaze came swiftly, departed just as swiftly, as Wang Jie abruptly broke into a cold sweat, everything had vanished without a trace.

”Hoo! Hoo!”

In a brief time, Wang Jie felt as though he experienced a great battle, now breathing heavily, abruptly standing up, and gazing around.

Soon enough, he identified the source of the recent threat...

In the 1st VIP box at the arena.

...

”What’s the matter? Suddenly showing such an aura... such a look... quite frightening.”

A low and hoarse voice sounded in his ear, in the 1st VIP box, a certain man stood by the large floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze encompassing the entire Million Victories Arena.

”It’s nothing... just that a little fellow disturbed my guests.”

”Just a minor affair, let’s continue where we left off discussing. Right, where were we? Speaking of Legas wanting to replace you as the Chief Commanding Officer of Battle Zone Africa, correct? Zero.”

Zero remained silent for a moment.

”This time, I do need your help Lord Wen Yu.”
