Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Let’s discuss the issue of the Level Lock.

Compared to Flashing Bluestar, their power level was similar to Earth before the apocalypse; they managed to survive for hundreds of years after the apocalypse... Therefore, without any major events, in five years, it’s absolutely impossible to surpass the hurdle from Level 6 to Level 7. Going forward, Level Locks at Level 8, Level 9, or even Level 10 will inevitably become even more difficult.

As previously mentioned, the normal lifespan of a professionist is much longer than that of ordinary people, so as time goes on, the timeframe will expand further. I think you wouldn’t want me to stretch these five peaceful years into a million words, right...

”Lord Legas is very dissatisfied with my work, saying that I am passive and unproductive, and he’s not able to produce any effective results. Coincidentally, the new generation of the Demon Tribe has grown up, among which there are some very capable individuals. So, Lord Legas wants to appoint a newcomer, ah, also a protégé of Lord Legas, to replace me.”

Zero succinctly conveyed Legas’s thoughts clearly, yet...

”Dissatisfied... What’s he dissatisfied about? He should know that I have given one-tenth of Africa’s vast territory to you. If it weren’t for your usefulness, Africa would have long since become a forbidden area for the Demon Tribe.”

Wen Yu’s words left Zero in silence—though his words were true, and during the five years of collaboration with Wen Yu, Zero indeed gained many benefits. However, as they belonged to different races and positions, Wen Yu’s blatant disdain for the military strength of the Demon Tribe in the Battle Zone Africa still made Zero uncomfortable.

Yet, feeling uncomfortable, what could he do...

Zero watched as Wen Yu grew step by step over the five years, becoming stronger and stronger. Now, Zero couldn’t even estimate Wen Yu’s strength anymore. He could only perceive that the pressure Wen Yu inadvertently exerted now was not inferior to that of Legas himself.

”Unfortunately, Lord Legas isn’t aware of these things. He can only see us struggling to maintain the structure of the Battle Zone Africa in a small corner. Hmm, he also doesn’t understand your power and forces, thinking it’s merely my lack of capability.”

After hesitating for a while, Zero finally uttered these words. Following that, he saw Wen Yu gently nod.

”Once that guy you mentioned takes over, I’ll send the Corpse Puppet to dispose of him.”

A simple promise, yet it made Zero let out a heavy sigh of relief.

As long as Lord Wen Yu is involved, the wars on Earth would be no different than a bunch of chickens pecking at each other, not worth mentioning.

”Let’s leave it at that and talk about something else, such as the tributes for this period. I remember we agreed on the size of five collective armies of Demon Fiends every month, but it seems like the last two months have been a little less.”

Wen Yu’s gentle words seemed to explode like a nuclear bomb in Zero’s heart. In an instant, cold sweat broke out on Zero’s forehead, and he even started stammering.

”Master, it’s my incompetence... still the same problem... Recently, the Battle Zone Africa has been mired in power struggles, I... I am working hard.”

Zero bowed his head in trepidation until a slender right hand gently patted his shoulder.

”I know you’ve been working hard; I’m not blaming you. After all, our collaboration has been quite pleasant, hasn’t it?”

With a smile on his face, Wen Yu’s seemingly effortless hand brought a heavy burden upon Zero’s shoulders, as if Mount Tai was pressing down.

”Alright, go back to work now.”

The words that dismissed him actually made Zero feel relieved. He bowed respectfully and quickly exited the box.

...

After Zero left, Wen Yu once again stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in the box, overlooking the increasingly fierce battles in the skill competition arena.

Unlike professionists, beasts fought in the skill competition arena, and unlike normal duels, these fights lacked any safeguard measures. But the benefits were obvious, not just for experience, but for vast resources, and even a chance to gain high-level skills, like the Limit Breakthrough Level ability of ninety-nine consecutive victories. Normally, with each victory, there would be a prize, increasing as the win streak grew, even offering the chance to have lunch with the Master...

And among the mutant beasts, Lord Wen Yu possessed the ability to replace skills for mutant creatures, which was already a well-known secret. This greatly escalated the scale and level of combat in the skill competition arena.

Here, it attracted countless individuals who longed for power, numerous desperados, countless gamblers, and even rich young scions seeking excitement.

What outsiders viewed as a Cave of Gold was merely a tool for Wen Yu to amass wealth.

The door to the box was knocked, and then it opened. A two-meter-tall Earth Puppet entered from outside, holding a thick stack of ledgers.

”Master, this is the financial flow for this month for the entire Star of Africa.”

The stack of ledgers was half a meter high, but Wen Yu merely glanced at them, uninterested, and said to the puppet, ”You say, I’ll listen.”

”Yes, Master.”

”This month, the Million Victories Arena made 3.3 million Level 6 magic crystals, the Skill Store made 5.6 million Level 6 magic crystals, and the auction house made 2.9 million Level 6 magic crystals, totaling 11.8 million Level 6 magic crystals. However, the collected Demon Fiend corpses and Soul Crystal stones this month cost 12.1 million Level 6 magic crystals, hmm, it’s a deficit.”

A deficit, yet Wen Yu showed no urgency. He simply glanced at his points—a staggering figure, continuing to grow every moment.

Including his own efforts, that of his Soul Puppet and soul pet, it was enough to cover the financial shortfall.

Moreover, Wen Yu never cared about magic crystal points. Resources weren’t important; converting resources into power was what truly mattered!

”How was this month’s harvest?”

”The Soul Crystal stones amounted to over eight million, and the rest were Demon Fiend corpses, already devoured by Lord Almighty Demon Vine. The Soul Crystal stones have been sent to Lord Mountain Puppet.”

”Alright, I get it.”

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s words, the Soul Puppet turned with the ledgers in hand, leaving Wen Yu alone in the box, quietly reflecting.

This visit to the Million Victories Arena was merely to meet Zero. Checking the accounts was secondary. Unexpectedly, this month’s income from Demon Fiend corpses and Soul Crystal stones was significantly more than last month’s.

More harvest is a good thing, as mentioned earlier. The importance lies not in the quantity of resources but in how much power those resources can be converted into. This month’s income could further enhance Wen Yu’s physical and soul strength significantly.

However, other information revealed by the harvest also required Wen Yu to think cautiously—more harvests indicated more Demon Fiends on Earth. The sudden growth in gains must mean the Demon Tribe was making moves again, something that couldn’t be ignored.

Reflecting on these peaceful five years and thinking about the rapidly increasing revenues of the Star of Africa in recent months, Wen Yu couldn’t help but sigh.

”Another season of unrest.”
