Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Having reviewed the new skills of the five soul pets, Wen Yu couldn’t help but exhale a breath of relief.

It’s a sort of perfect achievement; what remains is nothing more than finding better and stronger skills that match one’s attributes, such as Esoteric Level abilities or Limit Breakthrough Level abilities, or perhaps Esoteric Level skill upgrade scrolls!

Esoteric Level skills or Limit Breakthrough Level skills—these require luck. For a professionist to obtain such abilities, they’d definitely learn them directly rather than sell them. Given how extremely difficult it is to extract skills using the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill, Wen Yu has no means to extract skills other than the combination skill of Palpitation and Mad Medley—Annihilation of All Beings. Furthermore, considering that there are only two uses of Annihilation of All Beings left, Wen Yu hopes to use it to extract some rare treasures. For ordinary Limit Breakthrough Level abilities, Wen Yu wouldn’t consider using it. Thus, the available enhancement opportunities for Wen Yu, aside from the usual enhancement of physical fitness using Limit Breaking Abilities, boil down to finding Esoteric Level skill upgrade scrolls.

With the military’s help, Wen Yu searched arduously for nearly four years and only then found a single clue!

”A Supernatural Super Treasure Land, huh...”

Recalling the information just revealed by Fran, Wen Yu’s eyes slowly brightened.

He gently twisted his neck, which produced a series of crisp ”creak” sounds.

”Ah, it’s been so long since I’ve properly exercised... Well then, let me see just how troublesome this so-called trouble really is...”

Trouble...

In this world, it’s indeed been a very long time since Wen Yu encountered anything that could be called trouble...

...

In five years, the known number of opened Super Treasure Lands is eight, all of which are expansive spaces with open worlds and no compulsory tasks. According to Wen Yu’s own investigations, these Super Treasure Lands seem to have been transformed from destroyed worlds, containing countless hidden treasures, and the Spirit World’s Treasure Land is one of them.

Wen Yu has naturally explored the Spirit World’s Treasure Land before, but whether it was due to the ”misfortune soul” blazing or something else, the gains were minimal. Wen Yu was also too lazy to wander left and right in these Super Treasure Lands—for it would actually be more beneficial for Wen Yu to spend a few months making scrolls to sell, rather than exploring a treasure land.

Apart from a quick exploration when the Spirit World’s Treasure Land first opened three years ago, this was actually Wen Yu’s first return in recent years.

The entrances to the Super Treasure Lands are spread across the world, with three located on the African Continent alone. After deciding to look into the ”trouble,” Wen Yu immediately took action. It took less than a minute for him to stand at the entrance of the treasure land.

With a flash of teleportation light, everything before his eyes changed.

The vast desert turned into lush greenery—within the Spirit World’s Treasure Land, the scenery was quite beautiful.

After a quick assessment, Wen Yu immediately recognized his current location—a place known as the Osugu Prairie in the Spirit World.

Recalling the information Fran disclosed moments ago in his mind, Wen Yu slowly closed his eyes, releasing a massive wave of Soul Energy that quickly spread out until it startled a ”supreme” presence within this treasure land.

Right in front of Wen Yu, a silver-white vortex reappeared. It looked similar to the treasure land entrance but had some subtle differences. Noticing this scene, Wen Yu opened his eyes and then stepped into the silver-white vortex.

The scene before his eyes changed once more.

...

This was an expansive space filled with mist, extremely desolate except for a figure in a white robe standing a short distance in front of Wen Yu; there was nothing else.

Watching as Wen Yu entered this place, its master—the white-robed figure—smiled faintly at Wen Yu, then gently waved his right hand, and two sofas along with a coffee table appeared before Wen Yu out of thin air.

”Sit.”

The white-robed person succinctly gestured to Wen Yu, who returned a smile, leisurely sitting on the sofa. He glanced at the unfamiliar Treasure Land Protector in front of him and asked, ”Who are you...”

”Just call me Protector Number 3, as Lord Sequence Number 2 does.”

From the ranking, Treasure Land Protector Number 3 seemed to hold a high position. Of course, their allegiance was unknown—Wen Yu couldn’t discern whether these people were truly loyal to the Dominator or if they had long been swayed by the Demon Lord. These weren’t matters to be considered now. Seeing Protector Number 3 seated on the other sofa, filling a drink for Wen Yu, he spoke calmly.

”I’ve come here this time to ask you for a favor.”

”Please go ahead.”

Protector Number 3, a male who was fair and clean, not much different from a human, spoke with a touch of serene and harmonious aura.

”I heard the Spirit World’s Treasure Land produced an Esoteric Level skill upgrade scroll. I’d like to know its exact location.”

”I’m sorry, sir. That’s against the rules.”

Though Protector Number 3 carried a faint smile on his lips, he demurred Wen Yu’s request indirectly.

”Is my clearance insufficient to know this information?”

Protector Number 3 gently shook his head: ”That Esoteric Level skill upgrade scroll has already been taken by another professionist, so...”

As a guard of the treasure land, the Treasure Land Protector must maintain a certain degree of fairness. The authority of Sequence Number 2 is significant, but not enough to demand the precise location of an Esoteric Level item just like that, especially when it has already been taken by another professionist. No rule would allow the Treasure Land Protector to reveal such information under these circumstances.

Wen Yu didn’t speak; instead, he retrieved something from his space ring.

It was a semi-transparent glass sphere, with white mist dotted with varying colors of light spots inside. The immense energy contained within it involuntarily attracted the Treasure Land Protector’s gaze.

After about three seconds of inspection by the Treasure Land Protector, Wen Yu placed the sphere on the coffee table: ”All of the Origin Energy from a divine beast species obtained recently; you know it’s useless for me since I’m not Level 11...”

With that, Wen Yu didn’t say more, merely holding his teacup, waiting for the Treasure Land Protector’s response.

A moment later, an Energy Wave coursed over the coffee table, and the Origin Energy atop it disappeared.

”XXX, XXX, XXX.”

Protector Number 3 uttered a series of coordinates, then sat silently on the sofa as if nothing had happened, showing no expression.

Wen Yu nodded silently, rising and heading towards the exit.

...

Over five years, Wen Yu had interacted with this group of Treasure Land Protectors quite a bit, gaining a profound understanding of what kind of beings they were.

The so-called Level 11 Treasure Land Protectors weren’t beyond the realm of intelligent life forms. While they might appear detached and unassuming, if you find their weak spot, they are entirely like a bunch of unscrupulous scoundrels.

There is no fairness in this world, and the same goes for the treasure lands. Despite appearing fair, as long as the price is right, the Treasure Land Protectors can overlook any supposed rules—what’s a coordinate, really? As long as Wen Yu could pay, he could temporarily assume the authority of the Treasure Land Protectors in the land, becoming its Dominator and deity...

Just a couple of years ago, a troublemaker at the Star of Africa pilfered an auction house. Thinking they were protected from Sequence Number 2 by hiding in the treasure land, they found out too late that Wen Yu had bribed the Treasure Land Protector, appearing instantly before the scoundrel.

What followed was flaying and exposure, left to dry in the teleportation square of the Star of Africa...

The past is not worth mentioning.

After reassessing the approximate location of the coordinates, Wen Yu’s body gently lifted into the air, instantly transforming into light and taking off.
