Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The creation energy rapidly surged into the sphere of fear, almost simultaneously, Wen Yu detected another will contained within this sphere.

Vast, grand, immensely more powerful than his own!

”Sequence Number 2?”

A hoarse, deep voice came from the other end of the soul connection, flooding into this mass of fear, as a super boss from the Demon Realm engaged in a cross-realm dialogue with Wen Yu...

However.

”Who the hell cares what you are!”

The creation energy swiftly poured into the sphere of fear, instantly severing the soul connection between the soul puppet and its original master, and then came the transformation, the erosion...

The soul puppet, born from the creation energy, was inherently and wholly subservient to its creator. However, when two people possessing the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill vie for control over a soul puppet, the victor is usually the one with more creation energy!

Wen Yu didn’t know how much creation energy the Demon Spirit poured into this fear creation, but the Demon Spirit was far away in the Demon Realm, whereas Wen Yu was close by. A source without a stream cannot compare to constant replenishment.

The two streams of creation energy continually wore down and neutralized each other. When Wen Yu had completely exhausted the creation energy within the fear creation, the mass of fear before him became ownerless.

Strangely, during this process, the Demon Spirit from afar seemed to have willingly abandoned this fear creation, ceasing to contest with Wen Yu for its ownership.

But it didn’t matter anymore. Looking at the fear creation, a trace of smile unexpectedly appeared in Wen Yu’s eyes—was this thing powerful? Yes, extremely powerful!

As long as one awakens the fear deep within a life form’s heart, it can completely suppress the enemy’s actions, and simultaneously launch attacks that ignore any defense capabilities—once overwhelmed by fear, life is utterly controlled by another.

This thing is a super soul creation that completely ignores strength disparities, enough to allow the weak to defeat the strong at specific moments!

Just like the situation Wen Yu experienced, if the Darkness Puppet hadn’t been hiding within his shadow, Wen Yu might have encountered deadly trouble too.

The creation energy at the right hand surged once more, and within moments, the fear creation regained its self-awareness. The grayish mist danced lightly and swiftly burrowed deep into Wen Yu’s clothing, disappearing from sight.

”Awaken fear, play with fear, dominate fear... from now on, I’ll call you Nightmare.”

”Thank you, Master, for naming me.”

...

After dealing with Nightmare, Wen Yu used the dim firelight around him to locate where Cyclops and his group were positioned.

It was at the far end of the whole square hall.

In merely a few dozen square meters of the hall’s corner, numerous bodies were swept into an unnoticed corner as if they were garbage, and the thick smell of blood suffusing the space emanated from this pile of the living or dead.

Seeing Cyclops and Star at the top, seemingly asleep, Wen Yu couldn’t help but frown.

”Lift their illusion, and by the way, how many people did you kill exactly?”

”Only three, Master.”

The blurry gray light spilled from Nightmare’s body, falling upon Cyclops and his group, watching as Cyclops’ body started to twitch. Wen Yu quickly counted exactly who the unfortunate three were.

”I didn’t touch your soul pet. The initial aim was to lure you here through them, seeing my power could overlook physical strength and even some degree of soul protection, just didn’t expect...”

What happened afterward is known.

”But before you arrived, I devoured three preys, and, oh my, the taste was exquisite.”

As Nightmare spoke, Wen Yu had already identified the unlucky trio who were taken down—gazing at the greasy middle-aged man nailed in the forehead nearby, Wen Yu lamented for a moment.

Wang Fucai sadly became one of the three sacrifices, but Walter, the first to enter, had multiple wounds but lacked any deadly ones.

”That one, and that one.”

Nightmare pointed at the unconscious Walter and Qin Tian.

”The minds of these two are very resilient, especially the human I targeted first, his psychological defenses haven’t been breached by me yet.”

”By the way, Master, do you want to know what their fears are exactly? I found quite a few amusing things in their memories.”

Wen Yu waved his hand, indicating that he wasn’t interested in these trivial matters.

After waiting several more seconds, watching as the three soul pets showed increasing but still unconscious activity, Wen Yu glanced at his wristwatch.

Since Wen Yu entered this space, approximately five minutes had passed, and now Wen Yu was growing impatient.

”When will they wake up?”

”That depends on what they feared. The deeper the fear, the longer the time trapped in illusion, even if I actively removed their illusion, fear isn’t something that dissipates swiftly, so it’s more accurate to describe them as being in a coma now, rather than trapped in illusion, a survival mechanism of sorts, I suppose. The former master always said these creatures made of flesh have too many weaknesses, stepping out this time, I indeed broadened my horizons.”

Nightmare babbled on, while Wen Yu merely regarded it as free intelligence, watching as Cyclops, Star, and Luo Luo transformed from ceaseless twitching to steady breathing—they were asleep...

Wen Yu sighed, turning to head towards the space’s exit.

”Not waiting for them?”

”Not waiting, I’m pressed for time, let them sleep here for a while.”

”Master, wise as always, Lord Demon Spirit... no, that dog-spawn of a Demon Spirit modified the Origin Extraction Device using the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill. Its advancing speed isn’t slow; I speculate the device has now breached the surface and entered the overlay beneath. There’s truly not much time left for you...”

The now clear-minded Nightmare proved interesting, not only a chatterbox but also a sycophant, knowing a wealth of intelligence.

”By the way, do you know the troop deployment inside the Dimensional Maze?”

”Yes, Master.”

”Is there any other heavy-hitting monster back there?”

”Three, from what I see of your strength, two pose no threat whatsoever, but the third one, well, that fellow could be troublesome.”

”Just an hour ago, the Treasure Land Protector outside sent intelligence stating you hadn’t fallen into the trap, so Demon Spirit brought in another being, specifically to engage with you.”

”Soul creation?”

”Not exactly. That dog-spawn Demon Spirit has quite a collection of powerful corpses he’s gathered. I have no idea how old Demon Spirit is, but he’s secured quite an assortment, and even at Level 6, Master should tread carefully if he has his eyes on one.”

”Level 6... corpses...”

Wen Yu savored these words carefully, until his silhouette vanished into the outgoing teleportation channel.
