Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The scorching lava baked the body. As one delved deeper underground, the Nightmare found the heat more unbearable.

The high temperature blurred the Nightmare’s consciousness a bit. Fortunately, the Soul Puppet’s loyalty to its Creator was absolutely assured. Even though the Nightmare sometimes felt the illusion of ”almost dying,” it still loyally completed the orders issued by Wen Yu.

Until the heat dissipated, the Nightmare felt the resistance in front suddenly vanish. Simultaneously, a cool sensation spread over its body. The sudden temperature change made the Nightmare feel quite comfortable.

After adapting to the alternation of heat and cold, the Nightmare spread out its Perception Ability. Yet the spectacle within its range made the Nightmare hold its breath—though it didn’t have respiratory organs...

Directly ahead was a vast underground space, with jagged rocks and stalactites hanging down. Specks of white light floated within the entire space, rendering the area gorgeously like a fairy tale. At the very center of the whole space was an enormous light orb.

These specks of white light were emitted from the light orb, where billions of light spots swirled and flickered, spreading starry energy around. This energy wave neared the Nightmare but quickly flowed to the other side.

Amidst the haze, the Nightmare felt as though facing some majestic and boundless giant entity, making it instinctively anxious and tense, losing its focus for a moment.

Until a slight jumping sound echoed.

”Boom~~”

Deep, full of vitality, and reverberating.

Watching the light orb in front gently pulse, the Nightmare snapped out of its trance, remembered its mission, and carefully floated to the orb’s side, trying to find his target.

Soon, the Nightmare found the palm-sized device resembling a needle tube...

At that moment, this device was embedded atop the light orb. Compared to the orb’s white, the meticulous black device stood out like an ink dot on white paper, causing the Nightmare to blank out for a moment until it heard footsteps from behind, awakening it from the frustration of task failure.

”Master... I didn’t catch up to it...”

...

”I can see that.”

A somber voice sounded, and a large hand suddenly appeared behind the Nightmare, firmly grasping the needle tube, pulling it out from the light orb.

No expected resistance emerged; with just a slight touch, the needle tube easily detached from the light orb. Yet, Wen Yu, who held the needle tube, wore an unusually grim expression.

It was empty inside...

Just when the Nightmare detected the presence of Creation Energy within the needle tube, Wen Yu already foresaw the potential trouble.

Creation Energy, being nearly omnipotent, most memorably could animate non-living bodies—given sufficient Creation Energy, any non-living body could be granted life, transformed into a Soul Abiogenetic Creation.

So, does a planet count as a non-living body?

Although there exists something like a world will, Wen Yu viewed it as merely the collective will of life forms on the planet, much like Yao Yao but yet not entirely the same. Wen Yu personally believed the planet to be lifeless, even contemplating if he had enough Creation Energy to animate Earth, making it his own Soul Abiogenetic Creation, how awesome that would be!

Yet, energy scarcity constrained Wen Yu’s actions—animating a planet seemed to be an unreachable dream in Wen Yu’s eyes. However, Wen Yu’s energy inadequacy didn’t mean others lacked energy...

Upon receiving intel from the Darkness Puppet, Wen Yu immediately thought the Demon Spirit intended to transform the Earth’s nucleus into its Soul Abiogenetic Creation!

Should that happen, Wen Yu couldn’t even imagine the dire depths the situation might plunge into!

Grasping the needle tube device tightly, Wen Yu looked at the orb in front, sensing the immense Origin Energy and the familiar intimate aura within, his grip tightening... tightening... until he crushed the needle tube into fragments!

Vast Soul Energy instantly covered the light orb, and Wen Yu remained expressionless, only continuously examining the Earth’s nucleus before him...

However, the colossal Origin Energy enveloping the Earth’s nucleus immediately repelled Wen Yu’s soul probe. At just one touch, Wen Yu suddenly felt an immense burning sensation arising deep within his soul.

The light orb gently pulsed once more, and in that instant, Wen Yu unexpectedly sensed a repelling emotion from within the orb...

If the needle tube was a virus, Wen Yu was the doctor, while the Earth’s nucleus right now was a patient unwilling to seek treatment!

No way to proceed.

This scene immediately made Wen Yu squint his eyes...

Wen Yu couldn’t tell if the modification succeeded or failed, nor did he know whether this Earth’s nucleus had self-awareness from the start or had just birthed it, but regardless of which, Wen Yu couldn’t simply ignore this matter.

Slowly closing his eyes, Wen Yu sent a spiritual fluctuation toward the Earth’s nucleus ahead.

”Hello...”

”Can you speak?”

”My name is Wen Yu...”

Communication was a good way to resolve matters, but this time, Wen Yu failed again.

The Earth’s nucleus didn’t respond, and even the previous ”repelling emotion” didn’t appear anymore. A feeling as though a mouse dragging a turtle surfaced immediately, followed by rising anger within Wen Yu!

A small part was due to his powerlessness toward the situation at hand. Yet more was due to anger over all this!

Anger at his incompetence, anger at the cunning treachery of the Demon Spirit, anger at the anxiety over matters being out of control!

Thus, Wen Yu became furious! Thus, Wen Yu stretched out his right hand toward the Earth’s nucleus before him!

...

A vast amount of Creation Energy surged forth, rushing toward the Earth’s nucleus ahead!

This time, Wen Yu no longer considered the cost-benefit, no longer worried about triggering even worse reactions. Wen Yu merely poured all his currently owned Creation Energy into the Earth’s nucleus.

At the point where the palm met the Earth’s nucleus, it slowly started to heat up, gradually becoming scalding, yet the inexplicable link during Soul Abiogenetic Creation didn’t appear at all. Even after the vast Creation Energy injected into the Earth’s nucleus, Wen Yu merely felt the energy vanish into thin air, not even stirring a ripple!

Until Wen Yu poured the last bit of Creation Energy into the Earth’s nucleus, he paused and withdrew his right hand.

Didn’t the Demon Spirit infuse Creation Energy in there? Fine, if it did, then so will I, just a matter of who possesses more Creation Energy—just like during the Nightmare’s acquisition, the one with more Creation Energy is the boss!

Wen Yu didn’t believe the amount of Creation Energy within one needle tube could surpass his own reserves!

After completing all this, Wen Yu slowly retracted his right hand, while a burnt meat smell emanated from his right palm, gradually healed by the darkness energy.

Giving one last glance at the Earth’s nucleus ahead, Wen Yu expressionlessly turned and walked away.

”Master, Master... just leave it at that? I feel like the old thief Demon Spirit’s plan isn’t this simple.”

”Mm, I feel the same way.”

Wen Yu replied flatly.

”Then what should we...”

”Do what we can, leave the rest to fate, I’ve used every means I could, and beyond that, I have no other way.”

...

Boom!

After Wen Yu and the Nightmare had left, an external darkness energy instantly erupted, sealing the tiny hole the needle tube drilled. The entire space then fell silent.

Until a hazy white light was cast out from the Earth’s nucleus, followed by a gentle voice echoing.

”I received your message... Thank you...”

Far away in the Demon Realm, the Demon Spirit seated high in the grand hall slowly curved a smile, as if speaking to itself.

”You’re welcome.”
