Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 350: Chapter 139: Breaking Through_1

Claire’s choice was quite wise.

Seeing that the Ancient Demon spawn still had several Isolation Barriers in its hands, while Kuangliu’s entire body began to tremble nonstop—a sign of physical exhaustion.

If Kuangliu were allowed to continue bearing the Ancient Demon spawn’s assault, it would not be long before he was killed by its claws.

Once Kuangliu died, the consequences would be unimaginable—not only would it have a huge impact on the Cathay military, but without Kuangliu to ”hold back” the Ancient Demon spawn, the remaining professionists would be killed by it within a minute!

Claire took a large metal box directly from her space ring.

The box was square and about half a person’s height.

Fang Wenhai had seen this large metal box before; it was the same one Claire carried on her back when she entered the outpost treasure land!

A gleam flashed in Claire’s eyes. The huge metal box slowly melted, transforming into a pool of silvery metallic liquid that flowed towards Claire and enveloped her body.

In mere seconds, the metallic liquid on Claire’s body solidified again, forming a massive suit of metallic battle armor!

The battle armor was outfitted with formidable metallic armaments, micro-missile launchers, and various power systems. Though the armor appeared slightly bulky with its silver-white glow, no one would dare belittle its technological sophistication or its terrifying firepower!

This was the current focus of American research—the combination of technology and professionists to create an even more powerful combat system!

Claire’s large metal box was a high-tech ”Weapon,” specifically developed by American researchers for her profession and skills!

Claire, Human Race Sequence Number 6!

Profession: Metal Controller!

With her battle armor equipped, Claire launched a fierce attack against the Ancient Demon spawn!

Countless micro-missiles sprayed from Claire’s battle armor, rushing directly into the range of the Ancient Demon spawn’s Space Solidification skill, and then...

These micro-missiles froze in the space around the Ancient Demon, completely immobile!

”Explode!”

Following Claire’s sharp cry, the solidified micro-missiles suddenly glowed red, but nothing happened.

The power of Space Solidification prevented the missiles from even exploding, turning them into duds!

Claire watched the solidified micro-missiles with a grave expression, not completely abandoning her offensive. She directly activated her skill.

Metal Control (S-class, Active Skill): Allows the user to telekinetically manipulate various metals and alloys, causing them to shift or deform. Note: Cannot manipulate trace metal elements!

This was the profession skill of a Metal Controller. This skill highlighted how dominant Claire’s profession was—she gained an S-class skill immediately upon changing professions.

With a thought from Claire, the power of Metal Control directly interfaced with the micro-missiles hovering in mid-air.

All micro-missiles launched by Claire had two trigger mechanisms!

One was conventional electromagnetic signal triggering.

The other involved Claire using Metal Control to deform them, thereby triggering an explosion.

Yet, it was still ineffective!

The power of Space Solidification was simply too great for a Middle Stage Level 4 Claire and a single S-class skill to overcome!

Claire remained stoic; the failed attack had no impact on her. After calmly observing her surroundings, she raised her right hand again.

A missile launched from her battle armor. Its trajectory was not fast, and it wobbled erratically.

Under Claire’s control, the micro-missile veered directly towards the Isolation Barrier opposite her.

The missile, the area of Space Solidification, and Claire with the other professionists were now aligned in a straight line.

Then, Claire detonated the micro-missile directly!

”BOOM!”

A fierce explosion rang out. The violent impact directly struck the area affected by the Space Solidification skill. Then, the explosion’s shockwave, along with the dislodged dust and shrapnel, froze in mid-air!

With Space Solidification acting as a ”shield,” this explosion did not cause much harm to the professionists.

However, it also didn’t have much effect on the Isolation Barrier or the Space Solidification itself!

The Ancient Demon spawn casually crushed another Isolation Barrier. Its ugly head gave Claire a ferocious grin, the murderous intent in its eyes clearly conveying a message to her:

”After I deal with Sequence Number 3, you’re next!”

Claire remained unfazed. Her battle armor again launched countless micro-missiles which, under the effect of Metal Control, landed directly in the same location as before!

Then!

”BOOM!”

”BOOM!”

”BOOM!”

A furious barrage of explosions rang out. Even with Space Solidification acting as a ”shield,” the sheer noise and blast waves from the explosions left the professionists dizzy!

”You’re insane!” Andre, relentlessly striking the Isolation Barrier beside him, roared at Claire. ”This is an enclosed space! If you detonate so many bombs at once, we’ll all die in here!”

Claire ignored Andre’s words and once again launched a barrage of various bombs at the same location.

Unfortunately, it was still ineffective.

However, it couldn’t be said there was no effect at all.

Activating the Ancient Demon spawn’s Space Solidification skill consumed a great deal of its stamina every second. Furthermore, when dealing with external interference, it drained additional stamina proportional to the force’s intensity.

The raging shockwaves caused the Ancient Demon spawn’s assault to falter momentarily, proving that Claire’s attack had indeed affected it.

Unfortunately, it only caused the Ancient Demon spawn to hesitate briefly.

Claire looked at the Ancient Demon spawn, which was relentlessly launching its attacks, then glanced at Kuangliu. His eyes were streaming with blood, yet he still fought on, teeth clenched. She sighed softly and said slowly, ”I have one ’big one’ left... Detonating it might break this barrier or the Demon Fiend’s skill. The choice is yours!”

Claire didn’t mention one thing. It was common knowledge that a bomb exploding in an open space had different lethality compared to one in an enclosed space. Inside this Isolation Barrier, if they detonated a ”big one” that could shatter this barrier, it went without saying how devastating the impact would be on the professionists present! They couldn’t possibly be tougher than the Isolation Barrier!

And how could the military representatives from various countries not know this?

”Well, what are we waiting for? Hurry! Hurry!!! Kuangliu can’t hold on much longer!” Fang Wenhai, standing to the side, shouted at Claire while violently pounding the Isolation Barrier. His knuckles were already raw and bloody, blood dripping everywhere, with bone exposed in some places!

Claire gave a soft sigh, her gaze shifting to the others.

”Do it. Sequence Number 3 can’t die! At least not here!”

The speaker was an elder with a resolute look. He had a full head of silver hair, a thin yet upright frame, and wore an immaculate American forces uniform. This was the representative of the American forces.

The elder slowly stopped his futile attacks, turned, and looked at Kuangliu, who was passively taking a beating. He spoke rapidly but forcefully, ”The Sequence Numbers are the hope of the Human Race—not an old man like me, nor us military representatives here! Anyone can be a military representative, but there are only a few Sequence Numbers. One Sequence member has already died; the loss is already great enough.”

After finishing his words, the elder directly took out a pile of protective items from his space ring and pressed them into Claire’s hand.

”Fire it.”

”General...” Claire looked at the old man before her with a complex expression.

This American military representative was a typical hawk within the American forces. Before the apocalypse, he had staunchly believed in the ”Cathay threat” theory and never compromised. She hadn’t expected him to be the second to step forward.

”Fire it.”

The Russian military representative stepped forward, quickly gathered his protective gear, shoved it all to Andre, and then strode to the very front. ”Sequence Number 3 cannot die, and Sequence Number 6 and Sequence Number 7 cannot die either! Exchanging our lives for yours is worth it! Let us use what little strength we have left to absorb some of the impact for you!”

With those words, the heavily bearded man retrieved a colossal shield from his space ring and planted it at the very front.

”Hurry up...” The British military representative stepped forward as well.

”Although I don’t want to die, it seems there’s no other choice.” The Japanese military representative hesitated for a moment before his resolve firmed. He placed all the protective items from his space ring into Claire’s hands and strode forward!

”Don’t hesitate... Also, thank you.” Fang Wenhai walked from the back to the very front. He gave a firm nod to Claire and then stuffed a large quantity of protective items into her hands!

The military representatives from various nations, their different languages intermingling, caused Claire’s gaze to instantly harden with determination!

”Prepare!” Claire shouted. Then, a spherical object unexpectedly rose from the shoulder of her battle armor. Under the influence of her Metal Control skill, it floated slowly towards the spot where she had just fired the missiles.

Then...

”BOOM!”

Violent shockwaves spread in all directions. Even though the area of Space Solidification in front was meant to shelter the professionists behind it, it was utterly ineffective against this!

The entire barrier swelled instantaneously, like a balloon about to pop. An enormous force filled it, and in less than a second, this massive ”balloon” burst!

A mushroom cloud slowly rose from where the central castle had stood, gradually dissipating into the treasure land.

The instant the explosion occurred, the Ancient Demon spawn sensed its power. An irresistible force instantly tore through its Space Solidification, consuming a massive amount of its stamina!

The Ancient Demon spawn immediately ceased its movements and activated its dimensional asylum.

Kuangliu, on the other side, whose consciousness was already fading, instinctively activated Invincible before being blasted far away by the explosion’s shockwaves!
