Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 327: Chapter 116 Shell Breaking Storm_1

”Wen Yu, how much longer?” Kuangliu’s voice came through the communicator again.

Unfortunately, Wen Yu didn’t have the answer.

”I don’t know!”

With these three very straightforward words, Wen Yu hung up the communicator. He turned around and looked at Star, who was still eating meat and magic crystals.

It turned out that the advancement of a divine beast consumed a terrifying amount of resources!

For three days after Cyclops’s advancement, Star had been eating non-stop. Cyclops and Wen Yu provided the flesh and blood, while the military had airlifted another 200 beast attribute magic crystals for Wen Yu.

However, only now did Star show the slightest sign of wanting to advance.

”It’s so tough!” Wen Yu muttered, looking at Star. ”If you don’t advance soon, this treasure land will have no more meat for you to eat...”

During these three days, the military—or rather, the Human Alliance—had taken control of the situation at the outpost treasure land. The bipedal lizards surrounding the outpost were now just some Level 1 and Level 2 cannon fodder.

This was the result of discussions among the various national militaries. The idea, inspired by Faceless, was to use these low-level Bipedal Lizards to accumulate points.

Under these circumstances, the military was ready to achieve its second strategic goal: seizing the Demon Qi Shield Generator in the Demon City.

But Wen Yu had delayed it, using Star’s need for advancement as an excuse.

In the distance, Cyclops quickly approached, carrying a third-level Bipedal Lizard. Cyclops had to travel quite far to find this third-level Bipedal Lizard.

This also indicated that the battle was already decided.

「In the blink of an eye, several more hours had passed!」

Star, beside Wen Yu, ate slower and slower. Its huge body staggered, and even its consciousness seemed hazy.

”Hey, hey, hey, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?”

Star responded with a slightly weak Spiritual Fluctuation: ”I don’t know... sleepy...”

Immediately after speaking, Star collapsed to the ground and began snoring loudly.

”PHEW.”

Wen Yu let out a heavy sigh, carefully examining Star’s body.

Star’s scale armor was slowly losing its luster. Wen Yu gently touched Star’s body. It felt like a giant furnace emitting astonishing heat, and its originally hard scales were becoming softer.

Wen Yu easily tore off a scale. The scale was dull, with no flesh attached at its root, as if it had naturally shed.

Before Wen Yu could react, Star’s scales fell to the ground with a CLATTER.

Wen Yu’s heart tightened at the sight, and the minor Soul Beast on his shoulder began to wail frantically, ”SOB, SOB, Star is dying... Boss, save him... SOB, SOB, Star is gone...”

Wen Yu ignored the minor Soul Beast’s wailing, walked over to Star, and slowly observed its physical condition.

After the scales fell off, Star’s body grew hotter and hotter. As Wen Yu drew closer, he could hear the intense thumping of Star’s heart and the faint popping sounds of its bones shifting. On its skin, harder scales were slowly protruding.

Seeing this, Wen Yu finally felt a bit relieved. Star’s scales were shedding and being replaced, much like a snake shedding its skin. By the time Star successfully advanced, it would still be covered in scale armor as tough as a suit of armor.

Wen Yu comforted the minor Soul Beast. After much effort, he finally managed to explain to the minor Soul Beast that Star wasn’t ”dying” but ”advancing.” The minor Soul Beast flew directly to Star’s side, nudging its body vigorously and pressing close to its chest, listening intently to its heartbeat.

After a while, the minor Soul Beast seemed to understand and flew back onto Wen Yu’s shoulder.

”Master, when can we advance?”

Hearing the minor Soul Beast’s question, Wen Yu calmly replied, ”Soon. After Star completes its advancement, we will advance.”

Currently, Wen Yu had sufficient points and plentiful magic crystals. He just needed to return to the outpost and get some darkness attribute magic mirrors from the military. These would be used to upgrade the Soul Beast’s physical fitness to peak Level 4. Then, by touching the Exchange Stone Pillar, he could directly undertake the job-change task.

Nearby, Cyclops, a Level 5 entity, sat quietly beside Wen Yu, silently guarding Star. It occasionally let out soft whimpers, clearly also a bit worried about Star’s changes.

A divine beast’s advancement required far more energy and time than that of an ordinary mutant beast. Even the physical changes during the process were much more pronounced.

Wen Yu quietly took out a few low-level magic crystals to feed Cyclops and the minor Soul Beast, and also took out some food and water for himself.

Behind him, the aura emanating from Star grew stronger and more terrifying...

...

A Spiritual Fluctuation came from Star: ”Wow, the weather is so warm today.”

Wen Yu, who had been dozing off while leaning against Star, heard the Spiritual Fluctuation from behind him and immediately jumped up. He turned to see Star looking around, its eyes still somewhat hazy from just waking up.

”How do you feel?” Wen Yu asked with a smile as he approached Star.

”I had such a good sleep,” Star remarked with a sigh of contentment, stretching its massive body.

Its wingspan was nearly fifty meters, its body length around thirty meters, and its height approached twenty meters.

Its massive form, towering like a small mountain before Wen Yu, shimmered with a deep, black gloss. Its scales glinted with a fierce, cold light, and even its ’weapons’—teeth and claws—had grown longer and sharper.

However...

Wen Yu slapped Star’s body heavily. The immense rebound sent a numbing shock through his palm.

”I didn’t ask how you slept. I asked how it feels to have advanced to Level 5...”

”Oh? Oh, oh.”

Star shifted its body slightly, nodded at Wen Yu, and then rubbed its enormous head against him. The powerful force even made Wen Yu stagger.

Seeing this, Wen Yu instantly knew Star felt good. He then proceeded to examine its Fifth Skill.

Shell Breaking Storm (S-class, Active Ability): Shatters the scales on the host’s body. These scales then fly rapidly around the host, tearing apart all living creatures within range. The attack power of the scales is determined by the host’s physical attributes. After the scales are launched, new ones will quickly regrow, ensuring no reduction in the host’s defense capabilities!

After carefully studying Star’s New Skill, Wen Yu spoke directly to Star, ”Go further out and test your New Skill.”

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s command, Star immediately spread its wings, flew a kilometer away, and swiftly activated the skill.

Instantly, countless black scales, like sharp blades, enveloped the area within a 100-meter radius around Star.
