Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 322: Chapter 111: Open_1

The death of the demon spawn meant a temporary cessation of the outpost’s crisis; at the very least, it bought enough time for reinforcements from other nations to arrive.

Although the turmoil caused by the Bipedal Lizard swarm temporarily relieved the outpost’s crisis, this was not a sustainable solution. To completely clear the outpost of these Bipedal Lizards, relying solely on the military posed a considerable risk.

After pondering for a while, Fang Wenhai took out his communication device again to inquire about the combat losses on various fronts and any information about Wen Yu’s Kuangliu.

At this time, Wen Yu, along with the entire Shadow Assassin squadron, was ceaselessly circling in the sky on Star.

Occasionally, several slippery tongues shot out quickly, but they could not reach Star, which was hundreds of meters above the ground.

This was the importance of air supremacy!

Star occasionally spat Dragon Flame downwards, while Wen Yu, standing on Star’s head, continuously shot downwards. Together, he and his pet were constantly harvesting points.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Shadow Assassin squadron was communicating with Fang Wenhai about the situation while continuously observing the Bipedal Lizards’ movements from the air.

A large number of Bipedal Lizards were constantly swarming from a distance, their target to complete the demon spawn’s final order before its death—to eradicate the Shadow Assassin squadron.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t fly and could only follow Star, being led by Wen Yu further and further away from the outpost!

Wen Yu continuously annihilated Level 5 Bipedal Lizards on the ground. These dead Bipedal Lizards were then quickly eaten by their brethren, producing a large number of lower-level Bipedal Lizards!

Therefore, even though Wen Yu’s killing speed was not slow, the number of Bipedal Lizards on the ground was still increasing!

However, the most troublesome point was that these newly born Bipedal Lizards did not follow Star closely. Instead, they ran directly towards the outpost, which had the strongest smell of blood! Wen Yu estimated that these Bipedal Lizards had likely not received the demon spawn’s order before its death.

After a brief communication with Fang Wenhai, they quickly reached a consensus.

Wen Yu would continue to kill Bipedal Lizards, but not too quickly, allowing these newly born ones to run towards the outpost.

After all, these newborn Bipedal Lizards had no Level 5 individuals among them; they were few, scattered, and lacked leadership. The professionists remaining in the outpost could easily deal with them.

And Wen Yu was also happy to do the military a favor.

The outpost’s crisis was temporarily resolved, but this ’temporary’ reprieve ended much faster than anyone had expected.

After Wen Yu had led the massive swarm of Bipedal Lizards away for about 30 minutes, great chaos suddenly erupted among the Bipedal Lizard group below!

Countless Bipedal Lizards were CROAKING incessantly, their voices chaotic and disorganized. At the same time, the Bipedal Lizards further from Wen Yu suddenly turned back, heading towards the outpost with the strongest smell of blood. Only a few Bipedal Lizards were still chasing the ’delicacy’ seemingly within reach.

Seeing this, Wen Yu immediately took out his communicator and connected to Fang Wenhai’s communication channel.

”Original plan failed. The Bipedal Lizards are heading towards the outpost again.”

Fang Wenhai on the other end was silent for a moment, then slowly said, ”It doesn’t matter anymore... Reinforcements will arrive soon.”

”Alright, I’ll take care of my own business then.”

Upon saying this, Wen Yu directly hung up the communication.

His so-called ’own business’ now meant only one thing—to kill the Bipedal Lizards below; kill as many as possible!

Turning his head, Wen Yu looked towards the Shadow Assassin squadron.

”Now, everyone, it’s time to reap the rewards!”

Following that, Star plummeted towards the ground like a falling star!

After disconnecting the communication with Wen Yu, Fang Wenhai carefully observed the footage being transmitted back by the drone.

Numerous Bipedal Lizards of varying levels were quickly advancing towards the outpost. The sheer number on the screen made Fang Wenhai frown.

”How long until the foreign reinforcements arrive?”

”According to Akado’s response, it will take about ten more minutes.”

Fang Wenhai made a quick calculation and nodded slightly.

Ten minutes isn’t a long time, and the Bipedal Lizards in the outpost have already been drawn away by Wen Yu. Ten minutes isn’t enough time for them to return.

This means my mission to defend the outpost has been accomplished! Thinking of this, Fang Wenhai couldn’t help but heave a long sigh of relief and turned to leave.

「At the entrance of the outpost treasure land.」

Blood was everywhere on the ground. Dark red splatters were scattered all around, slowly seeping into the earth.

These were all traces from the recent defense.

Following the dying demon spawn’s final command, the heavily defended entrance to the treasure land returned to military control.

By now, large numbers of troops and weapons had been moved back to the outpost, and the Magic Energy Mage Special Ops Team members who had departed earlier had all returned to the treasure land.

This meant that the second round of battle was about to begin.

However, this time, the scale of the battle was bound to undergo some small changes!

Standing at the entrance to the treasure land, Fang Wenhai occasionally checked the Bipedal Lizards’ movements on the tablet in his hand, and the countdown for Akado to open the treasure land had already begun.

Behind Fang Wenhai, Cao Ling, soaked in blood, said resentfully, ”In my opinion, there’s no need to let people from other countries in. We can hold it ourselves. Why let other countries benefit from this?”

Shen Yi, from the side, teased, ”Oh? I didn’t realize you, a butcher, were quite the nationalist.”

”Hmph. Have you heard the saying, ’Those not of our kind are sure to be of a different mind’? I despise those damn foreigners the most.”

”Alright, enough of that,” Fang Wenhai interjected. ”It’s necessary to let troops and forces from other countries into the treasure land. The death toll has already exceeded our budget. In the previous defensive battle, our military incurred considerable losses. If it happened again, the military’s gains in this treasure land wouldn’t justify the costs. Letting others share our burden is also a good thing.”

Hearing Fang Wenhai’s words, Cao Ling immediately fell silent.

In the recent battle, which had lasted for tens of minutes, at least one-third of the Heavy Shield Guard Special Ops Unit under his command had perished. If another battle like that occurred, the entire Heavy Shield Guard unit would likely be wiped out in this treasure land, not to mention the other professionists! Such a loss would be absolutely unbearable for the military!

In this somewhat oppressive and silent atmosphere, the exit of the treasure land suddenly grew larger, expanding from nearly 30 meters high to over 200 meters!

Then, a slender, blonde, blue-eyed figure walked out from the entrance to the treasure land.
