Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 312: Chapter 101 The Three Major Special Ops Teams_1

As events unfolded, the situation at the outpost was indeed, just as Wen Yu had anticipated, about to transform into a vast Shura Field!

At this moment, with the military’s modifications and reinforcements, the outpost had become a grand steel fortress!

Towering city walls bristled with heavily modified high-powered weapons, and in the city center, countless missile vehicles constantly fired missiles.

An endless stream of soldiers and weapons was being transported to the outpost, ensuring its firepower!

Moreover, hundreds more human clone armored troops had been transported to the outpost and then rapidly charged forward under Wei Tian’s control!

And on the city wall, beside Fang Wenhai, three more professionists had appeared!

One was Shen Yi, the captain of the Magic Energy Mage Special Ops Team, who had been the first to arrive with reinforcements!

The military controlled various treasure lands, among which were quite a few that abundantly produced hidden profession-change scrolls!

The Magic Energy Mage was a special profession originating from one such large treasure land under military control.

The military didn’t just possess hot weapons. They had reacted the fastest to the apocalypse and adapted the quickest. While vigorously developing hot weapons, their exploration and application of professionists and Exchange Stone Pillars had never ceased!

Beside Shen Yi stood a burly man, over two meters tall, resembling a giant, holding a shield in one hand and a short axe in the other.

For an Asian man to grow so tall and sturdy was indeed rare!

This was Cao Ling, the captain of the Heavy Shield Guard Special Ops Unit, one of the military’s three elite special professionist teams, renowned for its defense capabilities and melee prowess.

Cao Ling was currently discussing frontline battle plans with Fang Wenhai, occasionally offering his own suggestions.

Shen Yi, observing from the side, couldn’t help but curl his lip and murmur, Cao Ling is such a show-off, acting like he knows everything... As if we don’t all know who he really is!

It was no wonder Shen Yi said so. Cao Ling had been specially recruited by the military after the apocalypse; he was formerly a butcher. To claim he possessed any military expertise was truly laughable.

Though his voice was low, Cao Ling, who was ahead, caught the gist of it. He turned and glared fiercely at Shen Yi, only to receive Shen Yi’s middle finger in return.

Seeing this, Fang Wenhai couldn’t help but cough twice.

Although the two didn’t appear to be on good terms, Fang Wenhai actually knew that as members of the first batch of military super warriors, they were very close. This behavior was merely friendly banter.

A stern-faced middle-aged man beside them then spoke up, ”What do you need us to do?”

Hearing this, Fang Wenhai nodded. ”Our intelligence indicates there might be controllers among those Bipedal Lizards. Once the battle begins, I’m afraid we’ll need you to go and assassinate their leaders...”

At this point, Fang Wenhai hesitated briefly but said nothing more, merely looking at the middle-aged man who had just spoken.

The middle-aged man nodded slightly and said slowly, ”It’s our duty!”

As the military’s smallest Special Ops Team, the Shadow Assassin squadron consisted of only a few dozen members. However, their assassination capabilities were undoubtedly top-tier. Entrusting this kind of task to them, Fang Wenhai felt at ease.

After glancing at the military personnel who had already gathered, Fang Wenhai asked the communications soldier beside him, ”When can Kuangliu and Wen Yu withdraw and return?”

”It might take a few hours. The way back is difficult.”

Fang Wenhai nodded in understanding and asked again, ”When can the entrance to the treasure land be reopened?”

”It might take over an hour. Kaldo is currently working on it, and Commander Lin has already coordinated with other countries.”

Upon hearing these two pieces of news, Fang Wenhai silently made some calculations, then addressed everyone, ”Alright then, starting now, our mission is to defend the outpost for at least one hour. Even if the outpost cannot be held, we must, at the very least, prevent these Demon Fiends from breaching the Central Castle.”

”Don’t worry! With us here, it’ll be a piece of cake!”

The one who spoke was Shen Yi. But judging by his cautious expression, it was clear that his inner thoughts were definitely not as relaxed as his words suggested.

Cao Ling also nodded slightly. ”Defense is our specialty!”

Hearing these words, Fang Wenhai remained silent, merely watching the Bipedal Lizards gradually approaching in the distance and murmuring, It’s starting...

...

The widespread missile bombardment didn’t cause much damage to the Bipedal Lizards, which had already dispersed.

After all, Level 5 individuals could already, to a large extent, negate the impact of hot weapons!

Although the missiles’ lethality was high, unless they scored a direct hit on a Bipedal Lizard’s head, the concussive force of the explosion and the minor flame damage alone were not enough to kill them outright!

Furthermore, due to the Bipedal Lizards’ terrifying reproductive capabilities, any deceased Level 5 Bipedal Lizards quickly transformed into Level 4 ones. The missile attacks, paradoxically, were causing their numbers to increase!

Amidst the barrage of artillery fire and billowing smoke, the Bipedal Lizards rapidly closed in on the military’s first line of defense!

The first line of defense was one composed of landmines!

...

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!!!

Explosions rapidly erupted in front of the outpost. Countless flashes of fire and shrapnel shot skyward, gouging gruesome wounds on the Bipedal Lizards in the first wave of the charge.

Unfortunately, their effect was minimal!

These landmines, despite improvements made by researchers from the Academy of Sciences, still lacked the lethality to inflict devastating blows upon Level 5 creatures!

Thus, the first wave of Demon Fiends completely overran the minefield laid out by the military.

Seeing this, a muscle in Fang Wenhai’s eye twitched. Even the captains of the three Special Ops Teams beside him, who had only ever seen these Bipedal Lizards in video files, had long since lost their nonchalant expressions.

”Level 5 creatures...” Cao Ling, at his side, spoke gravely.

”Can we stop them?” Shen Yi’s voice drifted over, prompting Cao Ling to shake his head slightly.

Cao Ling understood that Shen Yi’s question wasn’t about the landmines, but was directed at the entire Heavy Shield Guard Special Ops Unit.

”Extremely difficult... The entire Special Ops Team only has a few Level 4 professionists, and they’ve only recently advanced. It will be very hard for us to withstand the assault of Level 5 creatures.”

”Even if we can’t hold, we must!” responded Fang Wenhai, his tone solemn and resolute.

Cao Ling fell silent for a moment, then nodded faintly.
