Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 326: Chapter 115: The Future of the Mutant Beast_1

Luckily, the rate at which mutant creatures level up is quite fast, and the process isn’t too dangerous.

In less than three minutes, Cyclops had finished leveling up.

The massive energy it absorbed before leveling up was quickly transformed into nutrients for its body. On one hand, this fueled its physical growth; on the other, it shaped Cyclops’ Level 5 skills!

Beast Instinct Activation (A-Class, Passive Ability): Stimulates the wild beast instinct hidden deep within the host’s body, greatly enhancing the host’s melee combat capabilities. This makes its physical attacks (equivalent to the force released at the moment of attack) significantly stronger, with an increase of up to 100%! It also adds a degree of defense penetration to the host’s attacks.

Wen Yu carefully read the skill description, frowning as he contemplated Cyclops’ various skill combinations.

Mortal Combat paired with the Blood and Flesh Badge—these two S-Class skills determined Cyclops’ fighting style: wild and unstoppable!

The Flames of Tyranny would provide Cyclops with more methods of attack.

As for Savage Strike, it would become Cyclops’ most frequently used single-target attack skill.

Thus, the newly appeared Beast Instinct Activation skill was quite a good addition to Cyclops’ ability set—its level was decent, and it was also quite practical.

Wen Yu was now starting to consider the issue of skill combinations.

Two complementary skills are definitely much stronger than two skills of the same level that lack synergy.

An Independent, theoretically speaking, should incorporate attack, defense, healing, and even curse-dispelling skills and more into his set of abilities to face all circumstances alone...

Upon this thought, Wen Yu couldn’t help but shake his head.

In reality, it’s not that easy to be an Independent! Of course, I’m an exception! My profession as a Soul Master ensures the diversity of my skills. Even if I lack certain skills, I can contract a soul pet that possesses them.

Just then, a faint tremor nearby interrupted Wen Yu’s thoughts.

...

”How does it feel, buddy?” Seeing Cyclops, now awake beside him and trying to adjust to its explosive growth, Wen Yu couldn’t resist teasing.

”WOOF WOOF... WHINE, WHINE... COUGH, COUGH...”

Strange sounds continued to emit from Cyclops’ mouth. The sounds slowly grew richer until a stuttering voice finally emerged.

”Feeling... absolutely amazing... Boss!”

The voice was somewhat low, and its tone and timbre were very strange, evoking an indescribable sensation. Anyone who suddenly heard it would surely get goosebumps.

Wen Yu, however, did not get goosebumps. All that remained for him now was astonishment and shock.

”You can speak?”

Cyclops lay on the ground, possibly still adapting to its sudden changes. In response to Wen Yu’s question, the large, dog-like head simply nodded.

Then, a Spiritual Fluctuation transmitted from Cyclops’ mind.

Changed vocal cord structure. Level 5 mutant beasts have excellent control over their bodies. They can manipulate their vocal cords to imitate human voices, but it’s troublesome and seems rather pointless...

Upon hearing this, Wen Yu didn’t know how to react.

It seemed he had just been schooled by Cyclops?

Then Wen Yu thought of something else.

As mutant beasts level up, their intelligence also constantly increases. Now, high-level mutant beasts can even control their vocal cords... It’s hard to imagine if mutant creatures would one day be able to control their own skeletal structure or even muscle tissue and transform into human appearances. If that happened, what difference would there be between mutant creatures and humans? Even if they believed their aesthetics differed from humans and disdained transforming into them, as their intellect grew significantly, they might form social groups suited to their own kind, perhaps even establishing a Kingdom somewhere. They could also delve into technology, develop their own culture, and create their own societal structures. And, they might not be content with humans ruling Earth for so long and could attempt to challenge human hegemony! Under these circumstances, should these creatures still be classified as beasts? How should their relationship with humans be handled?

These complex questions flashed through Wen Yu’s mind but were quickly dismissed by him.

These matters should be considered after Earth’s creatures have completely expelled the Demon Realm. Perhaps at that time, humans might need to compete with mutant beasts again for the position of Earth’s overlord! And it can be expected that this process will be extremely difficult!

As for now...

Wen Yu looked at Cyclops, who was now standing upright. Its body, nearly 20 meters tall, stood before Wen Yu like a mountain. Its grey-black fur grew smoother and tougher. Although its physical constitution hadn’t improved, the change in size from leveling up had undoubtedly increased Cyclops’ combat power significantly.

”Mutant beasts are not enemies for the moment, right?” A soft murmur escaped Wen Yu’s lips, unheard by any other creature.

Star was eating vigorously, clearly stimulated by Cyclops’ advancement.

The little Soul Beast was jumping up and down on Wen Yu’s shoulder, commenting on Cyclops’ new appearance.

Cyclops was also excited. Its large body vibrated back and forth, causing the ground to rumble.

”SIGH...”

Wen Yu took a shallow breath and dismissed these questions.

What becomes of the mutant beasts is a problem for the future. As long as my own strength is sufficient—so strong that I fear no creature—I won’t need to care about others, or what other creatures become! No matter what you do, you must all listen to me! This is the path I intend to follow—a path to ultimate power!

With a slight twist of his neck, Wen Yu curbed Cyclops’ ”liveliness” and instructed it to collect the Bipedal Lizard’s flesh and magic crystals.

The flesh was fed to Star, while the magic crystals were set aside for storage.

He briefly inspected the Level 4 magic crystals in his space ring.

Nearly a hundred beast attribute magic crystals remained, all obtained through trade with Kuangliu.

Within seven days, the military would naturally airdrop supplies to these forces operating in the external territories.

After organizing his current resources, Wen Yu glanced at Star, who was eating with increasing speed. The anticipation in his eyes grew more intense.

Star, a divine beast and currently the most powerful asset Wen Yu possessed, made him eager to witness its strength after advancing to Level 5!
