Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 303: Chapter 93 - Everything is Under Control_1

As the Faceless creature continued to eat, a large bulge slowly formed on the right side of its body. Then, with a ”POP” sound, a newborn Third-level Bipedal Lizard fell to the ground, only to be promptly bitten to death by the Faceless.

Wen Yu naturally received the message about earning points. Army personnel immediately stepped forward, dug open the head of the dead Bipedal Lizard, and extracted the magic crystal. After this, the Faceless devoured the corpse on the ground.

Then came another ”POP” sound.

...

”What a... perfect species!”

Watching this scene, Wei Tian’s eyes shone. He looked at the Faceless, ignoring the disgusting slime on its body, earnestly stroking its body while constantly exclaiming.

”POP!”

Another large bulge burst open, splattering Wei Tian’s face with slime. Luckily, the Faceless reacted quickly, immediately turning around to bite the newly born Bipedal Lizard to death, thus preventing Wei Tian from getting seriously hurt.

Wei Tian seemed oblivious to the slime splattered on his face and its nasty smell. He stood still, his eyes burning with a fervor that gave Wen Yu chills.

A mad scientist... Kuangliu’s faint whisper reached Wen Yu’s ear, and he immediately nodded in agreement.

...

In less than an hour, the Faceless had provided the army with nearly 100 Third-level magic crystals, and Wen Yu himself had also gained more than 200,000 points.

What was expended was merely a modest amount of flesh.

To say everyone was overjoyed with this collaboration would be an understatement!

Seeing everything back on track and the Faceless following the instinctual routine of ”eat—kill—eat,” Wen Yu walked outside.

Leaving the Faceless here posed no problem, and Wen Yu himself could return to the front line to kill Demon Fiends, gathering points and flesh.

Strictly speaking, the Faceless didn’t generate points as quickly as Wen Yu could during a killing spree, but it provided a constant supply. This operation could continue, whether inside or outside the treasure land.

Given these benefits, unless Wen Yu encountered a very tricky situation requiring the Faceless’s power, the Faceless would otherwise remain a ”magic crystal and points generator.”

...

The battlefield situation remained straightforward.

Elite squads, led by the army’s powerful experts, constantly hunted small groups of Demon Fiends, steadily increasing their strength. If large groups of Demon Fiends appeared, Wen Yu and Kuangliu would immediately rush over to clear them out.

Without the presence of Level 4 or Level 5 Bipedal Lizards, the entire battlefield was developing steadily, just as the army had anticipated.

”Everything is under control!”

These were the exact words of Fang Wenhai, who was in charge of overall command at the army’s forward command post.

Wen Yu looked at the distant Demon City, shrouded in fog, a wave of doubt rising in his heart. Is everything really under control? Those Bipedal Lizards have been too quiet!

...

”Those humans seem very pleased!”

Within the Demon City, shrouded by the Fog of War, a demon spawn spoke in a deep voice.

”It appears so, Milord,” the Soot Skin Demon Fiend, who was blind, respectfully answered from the side.

The demon spawn’s Fog of War ability didn’t obstruct its own vision, but other creatures weren’t afforded such a luxury, not even the Balu Monsters under its control. But that didn’t really matter, since Balu Monsters didn’t have eyes to begin with.

Through the pervasive fog, the demon spawn’s grim gaze fixed on the outpost as it mumbled softly, ”Kill, kill... kill to your heart’s content! Become a little stronger! Then you’ll provide more food for my precious ones!”

”Such naive folks, don’t you agree?”

”Yes, my lord,” the Soot Skin Demon Fiend answered respectfully.

The demon spawn chuckled devilishly, nodded, and turned its head to look behind.

Behind the demon spawn, countless high-level Bipedal Lizards were ceaselessly digging. In a short time, they had excavated a massive pit, and this activity was still ongoing.

Seeing this, the demon spawn’s smile widened further as it muttered, as if to itself, ”So, as I said, everything is under my control!”

...

It was hard to say who had a more comprehensive grasp of the current situation or who had more confidence in this outpost battle.

However, at a glance, the army seemed to have the upper hand. Under this somewhat bizarre ”everything is under control” attitude from both sides, the entire treasure land had essentially become the army’s private garden for harvesting points and magic crystals.

In this situation, within a short week, a large number of Level 4 professionists emerged within the army. These newly promoted Level 4 professionists would then each lead a small squad to continue these hunting operations. The army deployed more and more personnel, and at the same time, the outpost’s defense capabilities were continuously strengthened.

This resulted in the area between the Demon City and the outpost becoming a chaotic battle zone—a Shura Field.

Large numbers of Bipedal Lizards died in battle, their flesh subsequently transported back to the outpost to feed the Faceless. Similarly, many soldiers were torn apart and devoured by Bipedal Lizards. However, compared to the Bipedal Lizard casualties, the army’s death rate wasn’t high.

And the Bipedal Lizards from within the Demon City kept pouring out incessantly, a terrifying testament to the transport capabilities of that black hole.

...

”BOOM!”

With a loud explosion, countless shrapnel bits whizzed in all directions. The Bipedal Lizard hit head-on by this shoulder-fired missile opened its maw wide, as if roaring silently, yet it couldn’t hide the mangled, bloody wounds on its body.

Large amounts of flesh sprayed from the wounds on the Bipedal Lizard’s body. Under the immense power of the Hot weapon, the Bipedal Lizard didn’t struggle for long before it crashed to the ground.

Unfortunately, there were far too many of these creatures.

Before the soldier carrying the rocket launcher on his shoulder could react, a slippery tongue shot out rapidly from the earth, instantly coiling around him.

The tongue was slender, and its strength wasn’t great, indicating the attacking Bipedal Lizard wasn’t very strong. At least, not strong relative to this peak Third-level soldier.

Before this soldier could exert force to break the Bipedal Lizard’s tongue, countless more tongues erupted from the ground, instantly enveloping him into a cocoon.

”Damao!”

Up ahead, a Level 4 professionist wielding a battle saber saw this and roared furiously.

Unfortunately, being loud was useless.

The numerous Bipedal Lizards hidden underground suddenly exerted force. The recoil from their tongues alone was enough to drag their entire bodies out of the earth, and they lunged directly at the soldier called ”Damao.”

The sounds of flesh tearing and bones cracking echoed unceasingly.

In a brief moment, a peak Third-level professionist had lost his life, leaving only scattered crimson stains on the ground.

Then, rapid Fission Reproduction began. Relying on the flesh of a peak Third-level professionist, these Bipedal Lizards, in a very short time, created a legion of hundreds of Level 1 and Level 2 Bipedal Lizards.
