Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 325: Chapter 114 Conclusion_1

Listening to the distant roar of artillery fire, Wen Yu shrugged. He took the special military food Kuangliu handed him and began chewing it heartily.

Kuangliu, also eating, asked, ”When do you think this battle will end?”

”How would I know? Missing home? Missing your warm bed?”

Hearing Wen Yu’s teasing, Kuangliu shrugged again, a helpless expression on his face. ”It just feels like this battle has dragged on for too long,” he said. ”It’s been seven days, and we’ve just been wandering around out here, not even able to sleep properly.”

Kuangliu finished speaking and angrily bit into his food, venting his frustration.

After hearing Kuangliu, Wen Yu turned to watch the distant battle between his three soul pets, the soldiers previously withdrawn from the front lines, and the Bipedal Lizards. Mumbling to himself, he said, Seven days. I just want to get a good night’s sleep, okay?

”But it’ll be over soon.”

Hearing Wen Yu, Kuangliu nodded. ”Indeed, it’ll be over soon.”

Seven days had passed quickly since the reinforcements entered the treasure land.

The situation at the outpost was excellent. Four top-ten ranked super powerful experts each guarded a section of the wall. Combined with the military’s increasingly stronger professionists and a vast arsenal of hot weapons, the unorganized Bipedal Lizards couldn’t breach the outpost’s defense line. They merely became points for the human side.

Meanwhile, Wen Yu and Kuangliu had met up much earlier and were continuously roaming outside the outpost, clearing large clusters of Bipedal Lizards.

According to drone observations, the black hole formed after the Demon Realm’s Gate shattered was shrinking. Although the number of Bipedal Lizards emerging from it hadn’t decreased, their quality had significantly fallen, reaching only Third-level at best.

In this situation, the outpost was even deliberately controlling the combat rhythm, allowing Bipedal Lizards to consume the corpses of their kin to encourage more to spawn.

Of course, Wen Yu wasn’t paying much attention to the specifics. What mattered to him was his own power transformation during this period!

Kuangliu’s strength had already reached Peak Level 4. Moreover, he had accumulated countless points and only needed to return to the outpost to advance his rank.

Wen Yu was not far behind. Cyclops and Star had reached the Peak Level 4 stage early on. They were currently undertaking their final advancement task: storing advancement energy.

The advancement of mutant beasts doesn’t require a trial. However, each level-up signifies a fundamental change in their existence and demands a vast amount of energy. Cyclops and Star were currently honing their physical fitness through battle, feasting on Bipedal Lizard flesh and the Level 4 beast attribute magic crystals Wen Yu provided, preparing for their imminent advancement.

Wen Yu estimated it wouldn’t be too long.

Meanwhile, Faceless had already advanced to Level 5.

Faceless had transformed into a Level 5 Bipedal Lizard. It was currently devouring the flesh on the ground, then producing Level 4 Bipedal Lizards, only to kill and consume them.

Naturally, Wen Yu would exploit this ruthless cycle of farming points for his own benefit!

Watching Faceless with a touch of envy, Kuangliu said sarcastically, ”You’re truly ruthless. It’s like a mother eating her own child...”

Wen Yu ignored Kuangliu’s envious, jealous tone and said calmly, ”Stop talking nonsense. Don’t you know me by now? If the benefits are substantial enough, I’m capable of doing even the most terrifying things!”

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, Kuangliu fell silent for a moment. ”Sometimes I really envy you,” he eventually said. ”You have no ties, no constraints. You can do whatever you want, all on your own. How wonderful.”

Hearing Kuangliu’s sigh, Wen Yu also sighed. ”Yes, I think it’s pretty good right now too,” he responded. ”I only need to feed myself. If I encounter a Demon Fiend stronger than me someday and get killed, it won’t cause any ripples. No one will grieve my death, and likewise, I won’t grieve anyone else’s.”

”I still think you should find a girlfriend,” Kuangliu teased.

Wen Yu shook his head helplessly. ”Having a girlfriend means having attachments. The enemies I face, the battles I fight... there’s no room for weakness or distractions by my side. And besides...”

At this, Wen Yu gave Kuangliu a strange look. ”If I really had a wife and children, I wouldn’t feel safe leaving them at the Yanjing Assembly Site!”

That single sentence silenced Kuangliu. If Wen Yu gave Lin Haifeng any leverage, Lin Haifeng would undoubtedly not hesitate to ”trouble” Wen Yu.

The battle in the distance continued, but its intensity had decreased significantly compared to when it first began.

Cyclops and Star had been fully disengaged from the fight and were now lying beside Wen Yu, devouring the Level 4 magic crystals and flesh he handed them.

The time for the two soul pets to advance was near.

Technically, Star’s advancement speed should have been much faster than Cyclops’s. Yet, Star hadn’t advanced. According to Wen Yu’s estimates, it was likely due to the immense energy a divine beast required to advance!

Great power doesn’t come without a cost.

Kuangliu, who had gone to the front line to warm up earlier, now strolled over. He waved the communicator in his hand at Wen Yu and said directly, ”News from Fang Wenhai. The Bipedal Lizards at the outpost are no longer a threat. Fang Wenhai wants us to return and organize a team to seize the Demon Qi Shield Generator.”

Hearing this, Wen Yu nodded slightly. ”The generator, have they located it?”

”The Bipedal Lizards moved it back to Demon City.”

That order had been issued by the demon spawn when the Devil Qi Matrix was breached.

Wen Yu pondered for a moment before saying, ”You go back first. I need to wait here for my two soul pets to advance.”

Kuangliu nodded and, without further words, led a group of people towards the outpost.

Watching Kuangliu depart, Wen Yu could tell he was eager for the Level 5 advancement trial.

In fact, the time it took for Cyclops and Star to advance exceeded Wen Yu’s expectations.

It wasn’t until a full day after Kuangliu had left that Cyclops’s body finally began to change!

First, a series of cracking sounds erupted from its bones, then Cyclops’s body swelled rapidly like an inflating balloon. The excruciating pain made Cyclops howl loudly.

There was nothing Wen Yu could do. He could only stand his ground, occasionally dispatching any Bipedal Lizards foolish enough to approach, and wait quietly.
