Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 302: Chapter 92: Cooperation with the Military_1

The Faceless advanced by devouring the blood and flesh of mutant creatures.

Moreover, from the simple test Wen Yu had just conducted, he could draw a conclusion: most of the magic crystals consisted of Blood and Flesh Essence.

However, one thing was very strange. For example, Cyclops and Star could absorb evolutionary energy from the blood and flesh of low-level creatures, but they couldn’t extract evolutionary energy from low-level magic crystals.

Perhaps there were components in the magic crystals that Wen Yu himself didn’t know of, or perhaps there was a secret!

Wen Yu wouldn’t be able to figure out these substances himself. In fact, even the military hadn’t clearly researched what kind of material magic crystals were.

But this didn’t stop Wen Yu from maximizing his profits!

Hearing Wen Yu’s voice, Cyclops and Star immediately raised their heads, looking at him in confusion.

The two soul pets had been so engrossed in their meal they hadn’t seen the experiment Wen Yu had conducted.

Looking at the nearly half of the blood and flesh still remaining on the ground, Wen Yu felt his heart ache.

How many magic crystals and points have been wasted!

Commanding the Faceless to revert its replication state and return to its dough-like appearance, Wen Yu held it in his hands while directing Cyclops and Star to work.

Their task was to pile the remaining blood and flesh in a designated spot.

Cyclops and Star were reluctant, but under Wen Yu’s ”magic crystal” coercion, they quickly sprang into action.

The two gigantic Level 4 mutant beasts scrambled, their four legs a blur of motion.

After a while, a foul-smelling mountain of flesh stood before Wen Yu.

”You’ve taken out all the magic crystals, haven’t you?”

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, Cyclops and Star obediently squatted before him, their large heads bobbing up and down.

”They’re all yours!” Wen Yu declared with a generous wave of his hand, causing Cyclops and Star to let out excited yelps.

Wen Yu ignored Cyclops and Star’s exuberant shouts, as well as the small Soul Beast constantly nuzzling his cheek, and placed the Faceless directly atop the mountain of flesh.

Wen Yu had never fed the Faceless before, so he didn’t know how it ate.

Poor Faceless, since following me, it has only eaten dust and nothing else!

Now, encountering a large amount of blood and flesh, the Faceless immediately began to devour it. For the first time, Wen Yu witnessed its feeding process.

Countless white threads slowly extended from the Faceless’s body, plunging directly into the mountain of flesh beneath it.

These white threads, like straws, continuously absorbed nutrients from the mountain of flesh, transporting them into the Faceless’s body.

As a large quantity of Blood and Flesh Essence entered its body, the Faceless turned from its original white to gray. Its eating speed quickened, and soon, the entire mountain of flesh disappeared.

The Faceless’s size had also increased noticeably.

After a few seconds, the Faceless slowly shrank, and the gray Blood and Flesh Essence within it was gradually assimilated, restoring its original white color.

Wen Yu picked up the Faceless, kneading its body for a while before shaking his head.

I still can’t see any changes...

This was another drawback of the Faceless: it had no intelligence and was extremely difficult to communicate with, leaving Wen Yu clueless about its advancement progress.

Instructing Cyclops and Star to shrink down, Wen Yu took out a communicator from his space ring. Once the channel connected, he spoke immediately.

”Does the military have any high-level Bipedal Lizard body tissue?”

Kuangliu’s voice quickly came through from the other side.

”Of course! We have both Level 4 and Level 5!”

These tissues had been collected by the military from battlefields after missile strikes, intended for research into the species’ characteristics, physical composition, or genome.

”Kuangliu, I have a collaboration proposal. Interested in hearing it?”

The collaboration proposal was quite simple.

First, the military would provide the blood and flesh of a Level 4 Bipedal Lizard, allowing the Faceless to transform into one. Then, the military would supply blood and flesh to feed this Faceless-transformed Bipedal Lizard, enabling it to produce Third-level Bipedal Lizards.

The Faceless would then be responsible for hunting these produced creatures. All magic crystals would go to the military, and all points to Wen Yu.

Naturally, Wen Yu stood to gain significantly from this model. All he had to do was place the Faceless somewhere and issue a command: ”Kill the Demon Fiends you reproduce.”

The Faceless could barely accept this command, transmitted through the power of the Soul Realm.

This arrangement provided Wen Yu with a stable source of points, while the military gained a reliable, risk-free supply of Third-level magic crystals.

The two parties reached an agreement instantly.

However, the military strictly prohibited letting the Faceless advance in level first. At this stage, Third-level magic crystals were far more valuable to them than Level 4 magic crystals.

The military aimed to first create a large number of Level 4 professionists.

But they didn’t completely cut off the Faceless’s path to advancement. The Demon Beast Corpses from the creatures Wen Yu hunted could all be used for the Faceless’s evolution.

The designated location for this cooperation—or rather, for placing the Faceless—was just in front of the outpost.

Wen Yu was fast, but the military moved even faster.

When Wen Yu rode Star back to the outpost, military personnel were already waiting for him.

Since their agreement, Kuangliu had immediately returned to the outpost, his space ring filled with the blood and flesh of Demon Fiends he had hunted.

Upon seeing Wen Yu, Kuangliu smiled and said, ”Where’s that remarkable soul pet of yours? Let me have a look.”

Wen Yu promptly took out the Faceless and handed it to Kuangliu.

”Tsk, tsk. What is this thing? Its form is quite unique, but it doesn’t look like a living creature at all.”

”It’s an artificial creation, snatched from the Demon Worship Sect.”

Kuangliu knew about the Demon Worship Sect, as Wen Yu had discussed such matters with him before, though he had withheld information about the Faceless.

Revealing it now is no big deal, Wen Yu thought. Compared to the upcoming benefits, this small secret isn’t worth keeping anymore.

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, Kuangliu nodded slightly. He returned the Faceless to Wen Yu while saying, ”We’re also investigating the Demon Worship Sect and have some leads. We might need your help later.”

”No problem.”

Kuangliu nodded at Wen Yu’s reply and said without preamble, ”Let’s begin.”

A clump of Level 4 Bipedal Lizard blood and flesh was brought over by Wei Tian, the vice president of the Scientific Academy. It was then placed directly onto the Faceless.

In a short time, the Faceless’s body transformed into the likeness of a Bipedal Lizard.

Its 40-meter-long body and slimy, disgusting appearance made Kuangliu wrinkle his brow, but Wei Tian’s eyes lit up.

”Quick, quick, feed it blood and flesh!” Kuangliu urged.

Hearing his words, the surrounding soldiers immediately took out clumps of grayish-black Bipedal Lizard flesh from Kuangliu’s space ring and tossed them in front of the Faceless-turned-Lizard.

Wen Yu didn’t know the exact level of the Bipedal Lizard flesh being used. However, as long as it consumed enough energy-rich flesh, the Bipedal Lizard could activate its Fission Reproduction ability, regardless of the flesh’s level.
