Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 351: Chapter 140 Watch carefully! _1

When the Isolation Barrier exploded from within, Wen Yu stood right in front of it, incessantly wielding his battle saber!

Like a bloated balloon bursting, the force from the Isolation Barrier’s instantaneous rupture even made Wen Yu, in his Pitch-dark Demon Lord state, stagger backward a few steps.

It was worth noting that Wen Yu, in his Pitch-dark Demon Lord state, was practically immune to most physical damage.

Billowing smoke surged frantically from the confined space. The next second, Wen Yu pushed through the acrid smoke to a spot flashing with lightning.

Kuangliu lay sprawled on the ground, mechanically gulping down healing potions and Energy Recovery Potions. His hazy eyes caught a glimpse of the towering Shadow before him; then, his head lolled to the side, and he passed out. The exertion from his recent duel with the Ancient Demon spawn, combined with the explosion’s shockwave, had drained Kuangliu’s stamina and left him severely injured.

”Didn’t I warn you about this?”

A buzzing voice emanated from the Pitch-dark Demon Lord. He scooped up Kuangliu’s body with one hand and tucked Kuangliu inside himself. As long as Wen Yu refrained from using his various curse and corrosion abilities, the Pitch-dark Demon Lord’s body could accommodate certain ”items.”

Then, Wen Yu turned towards the source of the sounds within the smoke.

...

The smoke and heat gradually dispersed. A silver light slowly flowed up from the ground before gradually coalescing into Claire’s form.

Nanomechanical Body (SSS-Class, Active Ability): The body is constructed from nanomachines and can freely change its size and form. With sufficient energy, it can even transform into various mechanical structures!

This ability was much like that of the liquid metal T-1000 from the Terminator series. Undoubtedly, as Claire’s level increased, the effects this ability could display would become truly terrifying and bizarre. It could even develop a variety of additional skills, similar to Darkness!

Claire, pale-faced, stood beside the Pitch-dark Demon Lord. She glanced at him first, then hesitantly asked, ”Are you...?”

”Wen Yu!”

Claire nodded, wisely refraining from asking mood-killing questions like, ”How did you become like this?”

She quickly said, ”Just now, to break the barrier, I threw a super bomb. Andre was knocked out by the shockwave of the blast. I vaguely saw that Andre seemed to have been caught by that Demon Fiend!”

”’Mm.’ Wen Yu nodded in understanding.

Claire’s liquefaction ability, much like abilities of the elemental type, could significantly mitigate physical damage such as shockwaves. However, Andre hadn’t been so lucky.

”What about the others?”

”They’re all dead...” Claire’s eyes held traces of desolation.

”Sigh...” Wen Yu heaved a heavy sigh, a tribute to Fang Wenhai. Wen Yu hadn’t known Fang Wenhai for long. During their brief acquaintance, most of their interactions had been through a communication device. However, Wen Yu had to admit that Fang Wenhai was quite capable. It was a pity he had died here.

The smoke in front of him gradually dispersed. The next second, Wen Yu vaguely saw the Ancient Demon’s nearly three-meter-tall figure. In its hand, it held a bulky Shadow.

...

Upon seeing the Ancient Demon spawn’s figure, Wen Yu swung the battle saber in his hand as a greeting.

The demon spawn, visible through the thick smoke, lifted its right forelimb and enthusiastically waved at Wen Yu twice. At the same time, it shouted loudly, ”Hello, we meet again.”

”Yes, though I didn’t expect your greeting to be quite so... loud.”

Wen Yu, controlling the Pitch-dark Demon Lord, merely let out a buzzing sound, making no other movements. Wen Yu wasn’t sure if he could defeat the Ancient Demon spawn. Moreover, from the looks of it, the Ancient Demon spawn didn’t seem eager for a confrontation either.

The Ancient Demon spawn tilted its head slightly, first looking at the motionless Pitch-dark Demon Lord, then gestured with the hand holding Andre. ”What, aren’t you going to save him?”

Wen Yu shook his head. ”I can’t. My movement abilities aren’t as fast as yours.”

”Smart choice!” The Ancient Demon spawn nodded gently and casually twisted Andre’s neck.

Even for a Sequence Number 7, life seemed so insignificant before this Ancient Demon spawn. Perhaps one day, Wen Yu himself would face an opponent he was completely no match for, only to be ”casually” eliminated like a helpless chick.

Nearby, Claire evidently shared a similar sense of grief and helplessness. Watching Andre’s broken neck, her lips trembled slightly. She averted her gaze, as if unable to bear looking at Andre’s body on the ground.

...

After killing Andre, the Ancient Demon spawn lifted its head, its gaze fixed expressionlessly on the Pitch-dark Demon Lord. Unfortunately, Wen Yu still did nothing. If Wen Yu had intended to fight the Ancient Demon spawn, he would have acted while Andre was still alive. To make a move now would be pointless.

Seeing Wen Yu remain so ”wise and calm,” the Ancient Demon spawn nodded slightly and gave him a thumbs-up.

Then, the Ancient Demon spawn glanced at Andre’s body on the ground, pondered for a moment, then ripped open the palm of its right lower limb, pulling a pitch-black cylinder from its flesh. Gently prying open the cylinder’s lid, the Ancient Demon spawn gave Wen Yu and Claire an eerie smile.

”Let me ask you something. Have you ever questioned the existence of the Dominator?”

...

The smoke on the battlefield had long since dissipated, so Wen Yu could clearly see the Ancient Demon spawn’s actions. When he saw the pitch-black cylinder, his brows immediately furrowed. This pitch-black cylinder had originally been embedded within the Ancient Demon spawn’s body. Now, the creature had extracted it at the cost of injuring one of its limbs. This alone showed the item’s importance! Just as Wen Yu was pondering the Ancient Demon spawn’s scheme, its words brought his thoughts to a halt.

...

”Do you know what the Dominator is?”

His thoughts shifting, Wen Yu instantly dismissed the idea of retreating and asked the Ancient Demon spawn.

The Ancient Demon spawn shrugged while toying with the black cylinder. ”We’ve battled the Dominator across countless worlds. To suggest we couldn’t uncover any intelligence about our enemy would be to gravely underestimate us!”

”Information concerning the Dominator... I cannot divulge that to you. At least, not yet. However, that doesn’t prevent me from stirring up a little trouble for the Dominator—and for you... Human Race, Sequence Number 2! Watch closely!”

The Ancient Demon spawn flashed Wen Yu a mocking smile, then slowly placed the black cylinder on top of Andre’s head.
