Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”The aura of the Demon Lord, and also, the scent of the Sequence...”

Simple Demon Realm Language was uttered by the Ancient Demon spawn. Then, a contemplative look flashed in its eyes.

Its back suddenly sprouted two wings!

The Ancient Demon spawn’s legs bent slightly before it pushed off forcefully!

A tremendous force erupted from its feet, propelling its entire body upward as swiftly as a rocket. Then its wings abruptly spread wide and flapped vigorously!

A tremendous Sound Explosion and shockwave scattered outwards, and the Ancient Demon spawn’s body vanished in the blink of an eye!

While the Ancient Demon spawn was en route, the convoy hadn’t traveled far.

After all, the weight of the Demonic Energy Shield Generator severely hampered the convoy’s overall speed.

Fortunately, the surrounding Demon Fiends were quite scarce; they had hardly seen one all day.

The relief of completing the mission, coupled with the anticipated rewards from the Cathay military, left everyone feeling somewhat exhilarated.

The Cathay military was certainly generous with rewards!

Currently, Wen Yu was holding his two soul pets and constantly bargaining with Kuangliu.

”Add thirty percent more for tools and magic crystals! This thirty percent is the price for the Sequence Authority!”

Kuangliu muttered as he slowly drove the vehicle, ”Wen Yu, bro! We’ve been partners for so long, can’t you ask for a bit less? Constantly talking about magic crystals strains the friendship!”

Wen Yu decisively shook his head. ”Let’s not talk about feelings; that stuff is useless and just costs money! Thirty percent is thirty percent! Or we can trade for high-level skills!”

”No way, twenty percent at most. You can forget about high-level skills; the military would never offer those for trade. At best, they’ll give you some of the research institute’s latest products.”

”What earthly use do I have for those things!”

”Don’t say that. The institute’s stuff is quite impressive. Just wait, when I take you...”

Before Kuangliu could finish, a BOOM erupted from the lead military vehicle, its entire frame instantly disintegrating!

As the fireball erupted, three figures swiftly dashed out from the vehicle!

The quickest to react was Sequence Number 5, Yang Pengguang. He instantly transformed into a streak of Sword Light, escaping the blast radius in the blink of an eye.

Next, a silver light twisted and flowed like a stream of water, sliding towards Wen Yu and Kuangliu’s position. It appeared slow but was, in fact, extremely fast. Before the flames from the vehicle’s explosion had even subsided, this silver stream had already ’slid’ into Wen Yu and Kuangliu’s vehicle. It slowly solidified in the back seat, transforming into Claire.

Then, the third figure... vanished into the dust cloud kicked up by the explosion!

Only then did a violent Sound Explosion finally reverberate through the air.

The moment the explosion occurred, Wen Yu and Kuangliu had already kicked open their vehicle’s doors and jumped out, looking directly towards the exploding military vehicle.

Everything transpired in moments. By the time Wen Yu and Kuangliu exited their vehicle, Claire was already in their back seat, and Yang Pengguang had fled to a safe distance. Even the heavily loaded transport truck had just barely managed to screech to a halt.

”Boss, no scent... I didn’t sense anything,” a spiritual fluctuation emanated from Star, perched on Wen Yu’s head.

Star’s senses were extremely sharp. The fact that even Star hadn’t sensed anything proved just how formidable the attacker’s stealth capabilities were.

Moreover, judging by the force of its attack and its incredible speed, it was clear the assailant would be exceedingly difficult to handle!

Soon, the dust stirred up by the explosion settled, and the attacker’s figure came into view.

It was a winged Ancient Demon! A demon spawn!

In its grasp, Sequence Number 9—Suzuki Masao—thrashed, twisting his body, but the Ancient Demon spawn held him tightly by the throat.

Seeing this, both Wen Yu and Kuangliu remained silent.

The situation was clear: if Suzuki Masao possessed no potent means of self-preservation, he... was doomed!

Seeing the individuals who had exited their vehicles, an inscrutable smile touched the lips of the Ancient Demon spawn. Then, a light flickered in its hands...

An unknown power enveloped Suzuki Masao’s neck. A series of CRACKLES sounded, and then Suzuki Masao’s neck instantly vanished!

No, it hadn’t so much vanished as... it had turned into a sheet of paper...

His meridians, flesh, bones, and even his blood had fused into the paper, dyeing it with a bizarrely beautiful pattern. Suzuki Masao’s eyes widened, bewilderment flashing through them before they slowly dulled... He was dead!

BANG!

Palpitation materialized in Wen Yu’s hand, and he fired several shots at the Ancient Demon spawn.

Since Suzuki Masao was dead, Wen Yu had no reason not to attack!

Pale Energy Bullets erupted rapidly from Palpitation’s muzzle, then... passed straight through the Ancient Demon spawn’s body!

Yet, the Ancient Demon spawn remained completely unharmed!

”Spatial abilities!” Wen Yu spoke quickly. Immediately, Star, who was in his arms, rapidly enlarged and lunged at the Ancient Demon spawn!

The ability the Ancient Demon spawn had just used to dodge Palpitation’s attack resembled dislimning. In this world, truly Invincible abilities didn’t exist—all abilities consumed stamina!

Thus, Wen Yu’s tactic was quite simple: fight! He would drain the demon spawn of all its stamina, rendering it unable to use any abilities!

”You all go on ahead... I’ll keep this one busy!”

Wen Yu himself had just advanced, and his strength had undergone a significant transformation. Combined with the various defense tools in his space ring, the demon spawn before him was a perfect whetstone. It would allow him to familiarize himself with and test his new abilities. Moreover, even if he couldn’t defeat it, given his current strength and his Sequence Number 2 authority in the treasure land, he was confident he could escape.

Hearing Wen Yu, Kuangliu didn’t hesitate for a moment, immediately directing the rest of the convoy to detour and drive far away.

Observing the humans’ actions, the Ancient Demon spawn nodded slightly. He first glanced at the convoy preparing to depart, then at Star, who was furiously attacking beside him to no avail. After a moment’s hesitation, he spoke in clear Mandarin.

”Sequence Number 2 is a priority elimination target... That would be you!”

Hearing this, a glint flashed in Wen Yu’s eyes as he furiously squeezed Palpitation’s trigger, firing relentlessly at the Ancient Demon spawn!

But it was still futile... And from all appearances, the Ancient Demon spawn seemed completely unfazed, showing no signs of significant stamina depletion.
