Apocalypse: I Raised the Ultimate Antagonist from Scratch

The rear concrete wall of the commercial distribution complex didn’t merely break—it disintegrated under the overwhelming momentum of the heavily modified strike vehicle.

With a deafening, metallic roar that echoed like thunder through the massive, hollow structure, Lin Qing’s heavy armored transport truck smashed through the reinforced rear loading gates at full throttle. The massive steel snowplow welded to the front bumper crumpled the heavy iron doors like thin foil, sending jagged shards of metal, concrete dust, and icy debris showering across the interior floor in a violent spray.

Before the roaring echoes of the violent collision could even begin to fade, the transport’s side pneumatic hatches hissed open with a sharp, high-pressure release of air.

”Go! Go! Go!” Lin Qing’s voice cut sharply through the interior cabin over the steady, heavy hum of the idling diesel engine.

Ah Hua and Xiao Li dismounted with terrifying, practiced speed. Xiao Li took point the instant his boots hit the icy concrete floor, his jaw set in fierce concentration as his Earth Hardening power surged through his physical frame.

A dull, stone-hard mineral sheath spread rapidly across his bare forearms, neck, and face, turning his skin into an impenetrable biological armor as he raised his heavy steel riot barrier into position. Right behind him, Ah Hua brought up his heavy, belt-fed machine gun, opening up with controlled, rhythmic suppressive bursts that forced three mercenary marksmen to duck frantically behind a row of towering industrial shipping containers.

”Secure the perimeter around the fuel bay!” Ah Hua bellowed, his deep, resonant voice carrying clearly over the sharp rattle of gunfire. ”Don’t let a single one of those bastards reach those detonators!”

High above in the dark rafters near the ceiling, the sudden burst of chaos below was the exact opening Han Zheng and Captain Lu Feng had been waiting for. Crouched under their thermal cloaks along the narrow steel catwalks, they moved like silent phantoms through the lingering shadows.

Han Zheng didn’t waste a single round of ammunition. Extending his right hand into the icy air, he channeled a sharp, focused wave of kinetic force directly through the iron catwalk railing. The invisible pulse slammed into the elevated platform guard post sixty feet away, snapping the thick wooden support beams like dry twigs. The two mercenary snipers stationed on the platform lost their footing instantly, screaming as they plunged down onto the hard concrete floor below, violently taken out of the fight in a single second.

”Catwalks are clear!” Lu Feng called out, racking the bolt of his assault rifle and providing precision cover fire for Lin Qing’s ground squad below. ”Move up and lock down the perimeter!”

Down on the main warehouse floor, the initial shock of the breach quickly dissolved into brutal, calculated resistance. Gao Feng’s men weren’t raw recruits or frantic scavengers—they were elite, battle-tested mercenaries who had survived weeks of post-apocalyptic horrors and ruthless skirmishes.

From behind a row of heavy forklift machinery, a massive, hulking figure stepped out into the open aisle, completely unbothered by the rain of ricocheting bullets hitting his frame.

It was Zhao Kang.

Gao Feng’s iron enforcer roared, his dense, heavy jaw clenching tightly as his reinforced muscular mutation flared to life. Within seconds, his skin darkened into a dull, metallic iron sheen, absorbing high-velocity rifle rounds with nothing more than faint, metallic clinking sounds. The impact of the heavy bullets barely slowed his momentum as he lowered his broad shoulders and charged directly toward the breaching squad’s position.

”Battering ram incoming!” Xiao Li shouted, bracing his stone-hardened body and leaning his weight fully behind his riot shield to absorb the brutal impact.

”Hold your ground, Xiao Li!” Lin Qing’s calm, authoritative voice echoed from the side aisle.

Lin Qing stepped out from behind the rear transport hull, completely unbothered by the whistling crossfire whipping through the air. She didn’t raise a rifle or sidearm. Instead, she swung up a customized, pneumatic pressure launcher—a heavy rig she had spent long, quiet hours modifying back in the research facility’s underground laboratory.

Lin Qing locked her sightline onto Zhao Kang’s iron-sheathed chest. She remembered every single detail of Lin Tao’s interrogation intel: Zhao Kang’s iron skin was virtually immune to standard kinetic impact, but the rapid, extreme muscular transformation required a massive, instantaneous chemical reaction within his cellular tissue.

To break an iron wall, you don’t use a heavier hammer—you dissolve the chemical foundation beneath it.

Pfft-THUMP!

The launcher hissed loudly in the cold air, firing a heavy glass-polymer pressurized canister straight across the thirty-yard gap between them.

The canister struck Zhao Kang square in the middle of his hardened chest, shattering instantly upon impact and releasing a dense, pressurized cloud of deep violet aerosol. The specialized chemical agent—an acidic compound synthesized specifically to react with the mineralized proteins of his unique mutation—coated his heavy body instantly.

The reaction was immediate and terrifyingly effective.

Zhao Kang’s iron-hard skin hissed violently as the volatile chemical agent breached his skin’s pores. The dark metallic sheen across his chest, shoulders, and face rapidly corroded, turning into a dull, flaking grey ash before their very eyes. A guttural scream of pure, agonizing pain tore from Zhao Kang’s throat as his muscle density violently collapsed under the chemical assault, the sudden neurological shock dropping the massive enforcer straight to his knees.

”Now! Suppress him!” Lin Qing ordered coldly.

Ah Hua pivoted his heavy machine gun without missing a beat, firing a concentrated burst directly into the concrete floor at Zhao Kang’s feet, the concussive force knocking the severely weakened enforcer flat on his back, completely neutralizing him before he could attempt to recover his strength.

With Zhao Kang effectively taken down, the center aisle of the warehouse fell into a tense, chaotic lull. Firefights rattled from the far side of the fuel depot where Lu Feng and Da Yong were pressing the remaining mercenaries back into a tight corner.

Han Zheng vaulted over the high catwalk railing, dropping twenty feet down to the concrete floor with a light, soundless thud, his kinetic manipulation absorbing his momentum effortlessly. He unholstered his sidearm, his sharp, dark eyes scanning the lingering smoke and dust to locate Gao Feng and bring an end to the battle once and for all.

Suddenly, the dense curtain of grey smoke near the central forklift lane parted smoothly.

A lone figure stepped out from behind a towering stack of wooden pallets. Unlike the heavily armored mercenaries, this man wore a simple, dark trench coat that rustled softly in the draft. He carried no heavy rifle, held no sidearm, and made no effort whatsoever to take cover behind the concrete pillars.

It was Gao Feng’s second powered user—the quiet, mysterious operator whose abilities Lin Tao had known nothing about during his interrogation.

The man stopped ten paces away from Han Zheng. Slowly, deliberately, he lifted his head. Beneath the shadow of his cap, his dark ballistic goggles slipped down his nose, revealing a pair of strange, glowing violet irises that swirled with an unnatural, rhythmic hypnotic light.

Han Zheng’s combat instincts flared instantly, screaming at him of immense danger, but as he raised his weapon to acquire the target, his eyes reflexively locked onto the man’s glowing gaze.

The moment their eyes met, the chaotic noise of the surrounding warehouse instantly vanished from his perception.

Snap.

It was as if the entire universe had been suddenly muted. The roaring transport engine, the rattling machine-gun fire, and the bitter bite of the blizzard outside all dissolved into absolute, heavy silence.

Han Zheng’s momentum froze mid-step. His arm remained half-raised, his finger resting limp against the trigger of his firearm. His pupils dilated rapidly, the deep black depth of his eyes turning completely glossy, unfocused, and unseeing. An unnatural, suffocating stillness washed over his central nervous system, trapping his active consciousness behind an impenetrable wall of sudden mental fog.

The hypnotist smiled thinly, stepping forward with slow, unhurried strides as he maintained absolute, unbroken eye contact with the paralyzed commander. He raised a small, suppressed pistol toward Han Zheng’s completely exposed temple.

---

Across the smoky floor, fifty feet away near the transport, Lin Qing was in the middle of reloading her chemical launcher when her sharp eyes swept the central aisle.

Her gaze landed on Han Zheng—and her heart instantly dropped into a cold, weightless pit.

Something was horribly, dangerously wrong.

Han Zheng wasn’t taking cover behind the nearest pillar. He wasn’t aiming his weapon. He wasn’t using his kinetic power to shield himself. He was standing completely rigid in the middle of an open kill-zone, his body locked like a statue as he stared blankly into the swirling eyes of the man in the trench coat.

Lin Qing didn’t need a briefing or an explanation to realize what was happening. She saw the hypnotist stepping closer, raising his weapon with precise aim targeted directly at Han Zheng’s forehead.

”Han Zheng!” Lin Qing shouted, her voice echoing across the concrete floor, but he didn’t even flinch or turn his head.

Abandoning her heavy launcher where she stood, Lin Qing’s eyes widened in realization. She didn’t hesitate for a single second—she threw herself into a full, desperate sprint directly across the exposed, bullet-riddled concrete floor straight toward his motionless body!
