Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 197: Chapter 198: The Concert Begins

”Eight Gates?”

The boy was very puzzled; he hadn’t heard of this name before. Kano was kind enough to tell him a story.

”Then do you know who the members of the first generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist were?”

”Of course I do!”

The boy proudly recited the names of the first generation Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. They were like heroes of their Village, known even to children.

”Then do you know the second generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist?”

The boy thought for a while and realized he only knew two: the rogue Zabuza Momochi and Master Suigetsu Hozuki.

”Then let me tell you. There aren’t many in the second generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. First, the two you mentioned, and another holder of the Great Sword Samehada named Kisame Hoshigaki. Then there’s the next holder of the Lightning Blades Kiba, named Ameyuri Ringo. And the holder of the Blunt Sword Kabutowari... is you!”

Kano’s words left the boy completely stunned, and the grin never left his face.

”Ahaha, thank you for your support. I will definitely work twice as hard and will surely obtain the Blunt Sword Kabutowari!”

”I believe you. Now, let me test you with another question: do you know how the first generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist died?”

”Well, I heard they encountered a powerful enemy while on a mission, and four of them died in that battle.”

”Then do you want to know who that powerful enemy was that took down the mighty Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist?”

”Who was it?”

”It was an obscure Genin from our Konoha.”

”How is that possible! How could a Genin defeat the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist!”

”This Genin was different. Not only was he a Genin, but he also lacked talent for Ninjutsu, just like you. However, he mastered a secret Taijutsu technique. Using that secret technique, he challenged the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist alone in a fight to the death, killing four and wounding three.”

”That’s way too exaggerated! What kind of secret Taijutsu technique is it?”

”This secret technique is called the Eight Gates. It can comprehensively enhance physical fitness and grant power beyond limits, applicable to all Taijutsu! How about it, do you want to learn?”

”I want to learn, I want to learn!”

This was a secret technique that could allow a Genin to defeat the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist; saying he didn’t want to learn would definitely be a lie.

”This is a secret technique of our Konoha Village, and it cannot be easily shared with outsiders. Moreover, not everyone can practice this move. Young man, I see you have an extraordinary build, and since we are so destined, I will make an exception and teach you this secret technique.

Once you’ve learned it, never tell anyone I taught you. And you must not use this move against the people of Konoha, understood?”

Kano had actually asked Rock Lee about the training method for the Eight Gates long ago. The method wasn’t difficult, but it was extremely hard work, requiring enough perseverance and determination to practice. Although Kano couldn’t learn it herself, she could teach it to others.

”Understood. I, Senta Umehara, swear that after learning the Eight Gates, I will never use it to become an enemy of Konoha.”

After saying that, Kano taught him the training method for the Eight Gates.

”Then work hard on your training; I won’t disturb you for now. In three days, I’ll be holding a concert over by the stage. I hope you can come and support me.”

”Okay, I will definitely go!”

The boy’s gaze was burning. He felt that the cute girl before him was his person of destiny, and he resolved to protect her with his life!

Scenes like this were happening all over the training grounds. Kano specifically chose people with good character to teach the Eight Gates to, avoiding anyone who might actually master it and use it against Konoha.

People from her own Village were hard to exploit, but Kano had no psychological burden using people from other Villages. Once these people practicing the Eight Gates died in battle, she would collect their bodies and create a Shadow Ninja capable of opening the Gate of Death.

After telling her older brother Shikamaru about this later, Shikamaru couldn’t help but complain:

”Not only are you using people from the Hidden Mist Village to raise death soldiers, but you’re also using them as materials! You’re really being inhuman!”

Meanwhile, still at the training ground, Kano returned to Hohzuki Mangetsu’s side.

”How is it? You’ve already mastered our training methods, haven’t you?”

”Yeah, it’s not that hard.”

”Do you have any other conditions then?”

”No. However, if he wants the kubikiribōchō, he has to come to me for a test to see if he’s qualified.”

Kano pointed at Suigetsu.

”Bring it on! I won’t lose to you!”

Suigetsu drew the Ninja sword from his back and took a stance, ready to challenge Kano. Mangetsu wanted to stop him, but this time Kano stopped him instead.

”It’s fine. I just happen to want to test the strength of the child prodigy Suigetsu Hozuki, who is hailed as the Second Coming of the Demon.”

Kano threw the kubikiribōchō directly to Suigetsu.

”Use this sword. If you can last five minutes against him, you’ll be considered qualified.”

Shadow Zabuza stepped out from the shadows, still holding a pitch-black kubikiribōchō.

Hohzuki Mangetsu also recognized at a glance that the black sword was the kubikiribōchō.

I see, has the kubikiribōchō already been replicated? No wonder returning the sword was so easy.

”You’re looking down on me too much!”

He didn’t think the summon of this girl, who was even younger than him, could be stronger than him. Not to mention he was holding the kubikiribōchō he had longed for; along with his clan’s secret technique, taking down a summon would be a piece of cake!

Five minutes later, Suigetsu lay on the ground, struggling to get up.

”Not bad, you can still move. I’ll count it as your win; the kubikiribōchō is yours.”

Suigetsu’s heart was filled with joy and frustration. He hadn’t expected this girl, who was younger than him, to be so powerful.
