Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 181: Chapter 181: The Blood-Boiling Bond of Team 7

”Kano-chan, I’m leaving.”

After Naruto learned the news of his departure, he chose to say goodbye to Kano last. He still couldn’t let go of her; Sasuke had left, and now he was leaving too.

”Naruto, you have to work hard on your training. You must become super strong by the time you come back.”

”Yeah, I promise. I’ll definitely become strong—strong enough to protect you.”

Naruto intended to become super, super strong during this training journey! Strong enough to be worthy of Kano, and then confess his feelings, date her, and propose!

”Then, this is for you,” Kano said, taking out a flute. ”This is my most frequently used flute. You can play it whenever you miss me.”

”Thank you, Kano-chan!”

Naruto and Jiraiya left; the next time they would meet would be two and a half years later. Kano didn’t plan on leaving; she wasn’t an orphan who could just pack up and go.

Besides... ”With Naruto and Sasuke gone, I’m invincible! Hahaha!”

”Hey, Kano, what are you giggling about? The Fifth Generation called for us; there’s an emergency mission.”

Kakashi came to Kano’s side and called her to go on a mission together. Kakashi wasn’t a fool; even if Kano hadn’t told him, he had heard the truth from rumors and his own intelligence network.

”I heard you found me a foreign wife?”

To prevent the villagers from continuing to pressure him into marriage, he would occasionally apply for long-term missions to stay away.

As if she couldn’t see that Kakashi was angry, Kano began to advise him earnestly:

”Kakashi-sensei, you’re not getting any younger, yet you haven’t even found a girlfriend. You’re really making me, your student, worry myself to death.”

”Are you an old nag?”

”Do you know how much I sacrificed to persuade this foreign beauty for you?”

”Did you use your Brainwashing Technique?”

”Stop obsessing over my damn Brainwashing Technique. Just because you started that rumor, everyone comes to ask me if I know how to use it.”

”You say that as if you didn’t start rumors about me. A few days ago, as soon as I stepped out, I was met with the villagers’ enthusiastic blessings. Every time they opened their mouths, it was about wishing me a child soon.”

”Oh, come on, you won’t lose anything by marrying her. She’s a great beauty, has a good personality, and is very capable.”

”You make it sound so simple. I never planned on getting married anyway; growing old alone is fine. Besides, think about it—we’re Ninjas. This is a high-risk profession; we could lose our lives at any moment. If we had a child and I accidentally died, life would be so hard for that child.”

”Are you feeling guilty?”

”What do you mean?”

Kakashi felt something was off with Kano, as if she was about to say something dangerous again.

Kano hesitated for a moment before dropping her serious expression. She didn’t plan to handle Kakashi the same way she handled Sasuke; this was a blind date, not something else. It would be too irresponsible toward Mei Terumī to use threats or bribes.

”Nothing. I was just wondering, since Kakashi-sensei hasn’t found a girlfriend for so long, could it be that you like men? Like Naruto and Sasuke... you don’t happen to like Guy-sensei, do you?”

”Hey, don’t look at everyone through fujoshi eyes! I’m a normal man, and I like women. My sex drive is just relatively low!”

”Then why do you carry around icha icha paradise all day? If you’re not gay, could it be... impotence?”

”Pfft! I am not! How can a young girl like you say such things!”

”Hmph, if you don’t manage to win her over during this blind date, I’ll spread rumors throughout the village that you’re gay and impotent.”

”Kano, how can you be so wicked! If you dare spread rumors about me, I’ll tell the whole village you’re a lesbian.”

”But I am a lesbian anyway.”

Kakashi was so angry he almost coughed up blood. He couldn’t find a way to counter her. It was over; he was going to be toyed with by this Little Devil.

”Alright, Kakashi-sensei, if you can win her over, I’ll give you a piece of intel you’ll definitely be interested in—intel about an old friend you haven’t seen in years.”

”An old friend I haven’t seen in years?”

For a moment, Kakashi thought of several friends he had made during missions. He was indeed looking forward to finding out whose intel it was.
