Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 172: Chapter 172 Kano took the children to make quite a few hunting traps

The car was driving at a steady speed on the road; although it couldn’t compare to a Ninja running, it was much faster than walking. It was dark, but it wasn’t time for everyone to sleep yet, so they started finding things to do inside the car.

Kano took the children to make quite a few hunting traps, planning to set them nearby after they went to sleep at night. They would harvest them in the morning, and that way, there would be breakfast.

”Alright, let’s stop here for tonight. Rest a bit, and we’ll set off again tomorrow morning.”

”Okay.”

”However, when spending the night in the wild, everyone needs to learn how to keep watch. There are four of us, so we can split into two groups. Who wants to be in my group?”

”Me!” ”Me!” ”Me!”

”Since everyone wants to be in my group, I can’t play favorites, so you can all be in my group. But that means no one will be responsible for the second group. Since all three of you are very important, just optimize your teacher out and go be responsible for the second group.”

”???”

”I’m going to rest first. You just need to keep watch until one in the morning. When the time comes, you can rest. I’ll take the second half of the night.”

Thus, Kano let the three children keep watch and returned to the RV to sleep. As for why she didn’t use Shadow Exchange to go home to sleep, it was because the soft and fragrant Karin had also come out to carry out the mission. If she went back, she wouldn’t have a loli body pillow to hug, so it was better to sleep here.

Besides, since the night watch was just training for the children and there wouldn’t actually be any danger, Kano wouldn’t get up in the second half of the night. The whole time, there would be Shadow Ninjas keeping watch, so Kano didn’t need to worry at all.

This time, Kano used Shadow Haku and a few female Shadow Ninjas to keep watch. She didn’t use Shadow Zabuza because she was afraid he might actually kill someone.

There was a real possibility of a night raid tonight, and it would be the hostile Ninjas disguised by Iruka and the others; this was agreed upon from the beginning.

If Zabuza were left to keep watch, and she woke up to find heads rolling like during the Chunin Exams, that scene would be too terrifying.

Before the Chunin Exams, Iruka had pulled this kind of test. That time, Kano had deliberately feigned weakness and almost slashed Iruka directly. If Iruka hadn’t spoken quickly, and Kano hadn’t reacted fast, Iruka would have almost died.

...

A night passed, and Kano slept very well. When she woke up, she still had two small loli body pillows in her arms. She tidied her clothes slightly, combed her hair, and woke the three children up.

They had only slept for half the night, so of course they weren’t fully rested, but she had to wake them up.

”Get up, it’s time to set off. If you’re still sleepy, you can sleep on the road later.”

The children got up one after another. Outside, the sound of rain was constant; the overcast rain seemed like it would last for a long time. But mere rain couldn’t stop the footsteps of a Ninja! So...

”You guys hurry up and go retrieve the traps you set last night. Let’s see how much prey you caught.”

”But it’s raining outside...”

Kano didn’t coddle these three children; they were here to learn, and if Kano did everything, it wouldn’t achieve the effect of training.

The three children were sensible and went out into the rain to retrieve the traps. They knew the locations where they had placed them themselves.

Soon, the little boy in the group, Rentai, was the first to run back, holding a rabbit in his hand. Although he was soaked through, his eyes were still shining.

”Teacher, Teacher! Look, I caught a rabbit!”

Kano patted his head to encourage him.

”Great job! To have a harvest on your first try is really amazing.”

Rentai was very happy, and under Kano’s guidance, he very enthusiastically processed the rabbit into rabbit meat.

Afterward, Rio returned. She was covered in mud, and aside from the traps, her hands were empty.

”Ahaha, I actually caught a fox. But I accidentally let it run away...”

Rio apologized with a laugh; she hadn’t caught any prey and had held everyone back.

Kano still patted her head and comforted her:

”It doesn’t matter. This is a common occurrence. Learn from this, and next time you won’t let the prey run away.”

Rentai ran over to show off his prey to Rio. Rio was very envious and then praised Rentai, saying ”So amazing!”. Rentai, having his nose in the air from being praised by a girl, immediately offered to share half with her.
