Chapter 549: Chapter 37: Spare Your Life

The One-Tailed Shukaku actually trying to negotiate with Su Xiao, but Su Xiao remains unmoved, sealing other creatures inside him while retaining the other’s consciousness? That sounds like a pipe dream to him.

”Bastard! What kind of monster is this? How can something like this exist in the world? Even the old man Otsutsuki couldn’t absorb my origin power.”

Shukaku’s voice grows weaker and weaker as Su Xiao’s Blue Steel Shadow level continues to rise.

After the initial adaptation period, Su Xiao increases the force on his hand, the suction of the Core of Devour surges, and this time Shukaku can’t even speak.

The thrill of absorbing high-level biological energy is indescribable, especially since he can improve himself while absorbing energy.

Su Xiao finally understands what Marvin Hwaltz meant earlier; one must not lose oneself while absorbing energy, or they will become a Demon Blade.

As Su Xiao absorbs energy inside the Sand Ball, outside the Sand Ball is deathly silence. Deidara flies hundreds of meters into the sky, and the Sand Ninja Village stops launching crossbow arrows.

It is not because Deidara flew too high that the Sand Ninjas stopped firing crossbow arrows, but because of something that suddenly appeared near the Sand Ball in the sky.

”What... is that thing? Am I dreaming?”

A Sand Shinobi steps back two steps, the kunai in his hand falls to the ground. Even though he’s battle-hardened, his legs are shaking.

”That thing is... the Uchiha Clan’s Susanoo? Impossible, Susanoo isn’t this gigantic, and what is this terrifying pressure?”

The Sand Ninja Maki swallows hard, staring blankly at the sky.

At this moment, a blue phantom hundreds of meters high hovers mid-air, wearing armor, red light gleaming from its eyes, and a long knife at its waist.

”Choose me...”

The phantom emits a call that only a certain person can hear and tries to merge into the Sand Ball below.

Bam!

A force repels the enormous phantom. The phantom seems to lack subjective consciousness, merely trying to subconsciously merge into someone inside the Sand Ball.

”Demon Blade, everything can be cut, all withers.”

The phantom attempts again to merge into the Sand Ball but is again repelled. As long as Su Xiao’s consciousness doesn’t get lost, the heritage of the ’Shadow of Obliteration·Madness’ line won’t merge into him.

The heritage is not necessarily a good thing; becoming a Demon Blade in intense combat might lead to a loss of sanity until all nearby creatures are killed or until killed, which is why they are called Demon Blades.

Soon after, the phantom in mid-air dissipates. This was a test, and clearly, Su Xiao passed it. The phantom won’t reappear unless he completely loses himself while absorbing energy.

Inside the Sand Ball, Su Xiao’s hands emit light blue smoke as the unique high-level Chakra of the Tailed Beast continues to flood into his body.

This Chakra is quickly converted by the energy near his heart into nourishment for the Blue Steel Shadow; the quantity and quality of the Blue Steel Shadow energy continue to rise, and its level rises accordingly.

[Blue Steel Shadow has been upgraded to Lv.18.]

[Blue Steel Shadow has been upgraded to Lv.19.]

[Blue Steel Shadow has been upgraded to Lv.20!]

Su Xiao exhales pale red smoke containing Tailed Beast Chakra.

”Spare... spare me, if this continues I will die, please spare me.”

Shukaku’s plea made Su Xiao pause; the blue light in his eyes faded as he focused and entered the consciousness space sealing Shukaku.

Within the consciousness space, Shukaku is imprisoned in a cell, with iron bars sealed with seal markings. The cell door appears sturdy, but is actually bent out of shape by Shukaku’s charges, incomparable to the seals restraining the Nine-Tails.

Because the One-Tailed Shukaku is sealed inside him, Gaara has to use his consciousness to suppress Shukaku and cannot even sleep, or Shukaku would seize the opportunity to take over his body.

Then there’s Naruto, the Nine-Tailed Jinchuriki, who didn’t even know he had the Nine-Tails inside him as a child, clearly showing the difference in sealing quality.

Standing before Shukaku’s prison, if previously Shukaku was somewhat ’plumpy,’ now he is skin and bones, his purple markings faded, and its ears droop powerlessly like a stray dog that’s been beaten.

”You damn...”

Shukaku was about to speak when it noticed Su Xiao looking intently at it, light blue smoke rising from his left hand.

”So this is a Tailed Beast? An intriguing species. What exactly is its life form?”

Su Xiao contemplates Shukaku as though preparing to dissect and study it.

Shukaku is about to explode with rage, but dares not act out. Three-quarters of its origin power has been drawn, and its chakra almost entirely absorbed. If this human keeps absorbing its origin power, it will surely die.

”I’ll spare you for now.”

Su Xiao’s body dissolves into blue smoke and disappears.

”This terrifying human.”

Shukaku lies there motionless, utterly dispirited; who knows what Nagato would think upon seeing this dispirited One Tail.

Inside the Sand Ball, Su Xiao opens his eyes, a blue glint flashing through them, and not far from him, Gaara has already lost consciousness.

He punches the Sand Ball, and it shatters with the falling sand gradually slipping off the back of the clay bird, which had been carrying the Sand Ball in flight; otherwise, the Sand Ball would have already hit the ground.

Su Xiao stands on the back of the clay bird, sensing changes within his body roughly.

The Blue Steel Shadow energy surges within him, and Su Xiao clearly feels that the current Blue Steel Shadow, whether in quantity or quality, is far superior to before.

Now positioned above the Sand Ninja Village, Su Xiao has no time to check the changes in Blue Steel Shadow energy; escaping first is the priority.

With the unconscious Gaara in hand, Su Xiao controls the clay bird to ascend into the sky.

”Gaara!”

A heart-wrenching cry comes from below—it’s Temari, with a bandage wrapped around her neck. If Gaara hadn’t been saving her, he wouldn’t have been defeated so quickly.

”Stop them.”

Elite Jonin Maki’s eyes are bloodshot; if the Fifth Kazekage was kidnapped, it would severely disgrace the Sand Ninja Village.

A barrage of crossbow arrows is fired into the sky, with exploding talismans strapped to them, erupting with a cacophony of explosions. Unfortunately, Su Xiao and Deidara flew too high, far exceeding the precision range of the crossbows.

”Annoying pests, here’s a grand gift for you before I go, no, it’s art.”

Deidara brings out his carefully prepared Eighteen Techniques, forms a seal with his hands, and with a puff of white smoke, the explosive puppet swells in size, descending rapidly toward the Sand Ninja Village.

”Something’s coming down.”

”Prepare defenses!”

A multitude of defensive ninjutsu is employed as the Sand Ninjas go all out defending against Deidara’s bomb.

The Eighteen Techniques crash into a layer of earth walls, a blinding white light spreads out, and for that moment the explosion is utterly silent.

The white light shatters the earth wall above the Sand Ninja Village, and the Sand Ninjas have already taken cover inside buildings below.

Boom!

The explosion spreads, the fierce wind from the blast ruffles Su Xiao’s short hair, and a large fireball engulfs the Sand Ninja Village below.

”What a beautiful explosion, hmm.”

A smile spreads across Deidara’s face as fresh blood drips onto the back of the clay bird below him.

”Cough, cough, cough.”

Deidara coughs dryly, pulling at his collar to reveal obvious strangulation marks on his chest and abdomen—injuries inflicted by Gaara. Deidara has broken at least seven to eight ribs.

In contrast to Deidara, Su Xiao’s injuries are negligible; only his right arm is slightly swollen, with a few shallow wounds on his body.

After Deidara drops the bomb, the Sand Ninja Village no longer retaliates. Two-fifths of the village’s buildings are destroyed, and the casualties among ninjas cannot yet be fully accounted for.

”Let’s go.”

Deidara laughs heartily, Su Xiao carrying an unconscious Gaara, and the two stride off unhurriedly.

The two launch a direct assault on the Sand Ninja Village, resulting in them escaping with the Jinchuriki.

The reason for the Sand Ninja Village’s poor defense is, firstly, a traitor within caught them off guard.

Secondly, there were too few high-end combat forces within the village, only Gaara and Chiyo. Chiyo lacks aerial combat capabilities, and sensing that Sasori was nearby, she held back, always ready to respond if Sasori appeared.

Thirdly, the Sand Ninja Village was not united enough, perfectly described as disorganized sand. If Su Xiao and his companions attacked Konoha instead, the outcome would certainly have been different.

But that doesn’t matter—the actions of Su Xiao and his allies will definitely draw the attention of numerous ninja villages after this battle because it’s rare to see maniacs openly attacking a ninja village, at least not in recent years.
