Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 524: Chapter 12: The Cost

Boom!

Dull thunder echoed across the sky, lightning tearing through the pitch-black heavens, as if the apocalypse had arrived.

Cold raindrops pelted against the outside of the cabin with a snapping sound. Inside the slightly warm cabin, Su Xiao was in stark contrast to the stormy scene outside.

Luck wasn’t great; on the first night out at sea, he encountered a storm. Fortunately, the storm wasn’t large.

After taking off his drenched clothes, Su Xiao sat on the bed. Having been at sea for just a day, the bedding was dry, lacking any dampness.

There wasn’t much entertainment in the Naruto World. With nothing else to do, Su Xiao took out two treasure chests from the storage space.

A Blue one and a Purple one; the Fate Redeeming Lighter appeared in his hand as Su Xiao prepared to open them, gambling on the chance to obtain ninjutsu.

Even if it was a C-level or B-level ninjutsu, it would still hold considerable value. As for A-level ninjutsu, it would be a jackpot, and S-level ninjutsu wasn’t even something he considered.

He lit a cigarette, expelling light golden smoke, entering the European King’s State.

[Yes/No to open the Blue treasure chest.]

Without hesitation, he opened it. He didn’t have high hopes for the Blue Treasure Chest, just wanted to warm up.

Sapphire-like light shimmered, making Su Xiao pause for a moment.

It flashes! This chest, which he had little expectation for, gave him a surprise.

[You have received 5000 Paradise coins.]

[You have received a Chakra Cultivation Method (Primary).]

...

A scroll appeared in his hand, and Su Xiao’s first thought was that he struck it rich.

[Chakra Cultivation Method] is a special item. Every ninja knows the method to cultivate Chakra, so there is a chance of it appearing in any ninja’s treasure chest, although the probability is low, making it a rare event for him to obtain it.

Su Xiao had seen this item once at the Trading Square; it was priced at 200,000 Paradise coins and sold in less than half an hour.

[Chakra Cultivation Method (Primary)]

Type: Consumable

Description: A primary method of merging body energy and spiritual energy, slightly inefficient. ℴ

...

This was the first treasure chest Su Xiao opened in the Naruto World, maybe a sign that his luck was turning.

In the Hidden Mist Village, he’d been through numerous setbacks, imprisoned, used, and hunted. But after leaving the Land of Water, his luck began to turn, starting off with a brilliant start.

Su Xiao was in a great mood, his gaze shifted to the Purple Treasure Chest.

”Hulu～”

A snoring sound reached his ears, it was Bubu Wang sleeping on the bed, drooling as he slept.

Picking up the Purple Treasure Chest, he thought, if the Blue chest held an item worth 200,000 Paradise coins, what about the Purple one?

Su Xiao recalled the words of a certain ”father of massages”: ’If the 98 one is like this, then shouldn’t the 298 one take off?’

Opening the Purple Treasure Chest, the smile on Su Xiao’s face suddenly disappeared.

[You have received 1000 Paradise coins.]

...

”That’s it?”

Su Xiao picked up the Purple Treasure Chest and shook it. This was his first time getting an ’empty chest’.

That’s right, an empty chest—only yielding a chest with 1000 Paradise coins is commonly called an empty chest in Reincarnation Paradise; such occurrences are rarer than flashes.

Su Xiao ’luckily’ opened an empty chest while in the European King’s State...

Though somewhat speechless, the reality was as it was—he had to accept it.

Putting away the [Chakra Cultivation Method (Primary)], Su Xiao found himself with little to do in the cabin.

With nothing else to occupy him, Su Xiao began pondering an idea he had from a long time ago.

His Sword Technique Master had reached Lv.21, and he practiced sword techniques during his leisure time.

Su Xiao had been using a sword for a long time, developing many techniques during that time.

Developing techniques was truly a challenging task—he had developed over 30 techniques, with only one being practical, which was ’Ring Break’. The other techniques were unreliable, some even risked back injuries if used improperly, incredibly troublesome.

Only the ’Ring Break’ was practical, and Su Xiao intended to perfect it.

The power of Ring Break was unquestionable, proven multiple times, practical for dealing with both single and multiple enemies.

Ring Break was somewhat similar to Drawn Sword Slash but different. Ring Break’s technique incorporated Blade Aura, allowing it to spread in a diameter of over ten meters, creating a circular area of destruction.

Drawn Sword Slash only cuts a small area in front, whereas Ring Break is a 360-degree slash.

Su Xiao had previously used Ring Break to instantly kill a Contractor, but he always felt its attack power wasn’t strong enough against some powerful enemies.

Su Xiao thought of a solution to the problem of insufficient Slicing Power, which was to infuse Blue Steel Shadow Energy into the Blade Aura to enhance it.

However, the Blade Aura and Blue Steel Shadow Energy are of different natures. While Blue Steel Shadow is an energy, Blade Aura is a combination of Spirit, Swordsmanship Realization, and Enlightenment and doesn’t belong to the energy body, making the integration of Blade Aura and Blue Steel Shadow very challenging.

Su Xiao stood up from the bed, Dragon Slash appeared in his hand, and he slashed forward into thin air; a small Blade Aura flew off the blade but disappeared before reaching the cabin.

Su Xiao now released Blade Aura as second nature, almost instinctively.

Sheathing Dragon Slash, Su Xiao took a deep breath.

”Ring Break.”

Zheng.

Su Xiao slashed forward, a circle of pale blue Blade Aura spread out, disappearing after spreading one or two meters.

He deliberately held back the technique’s power; otherwise, it would have sunk the ship, which he needed to reach the Country of Fire.

When he executed ’Ring Break’ just now, Su Xiao attempted to integrate Blue Steel Shadow Energy into the Blade Aura, but he failed. They couldn’t merge, and their large-area contact made them very unstable.

The Blue Steel Shadow Energy is defined as energy consumed during close combat, and it repels most energy and matter, making integration into the Blade Aura understandably difficult.

With a tinge of disappointment in his heart, Su Xiao did not give up easily. He had failed similar experiments countless times.

”Can’t merge... What about coating?”

Suddenly, Su Xiao had a new idea. Since the two couldn’t merge, what if he coated the Blade Aura with Blue Steel Shadow Energy? It seemed like a good choice.

Acting on the thought, Su Xiao sheathed Dragon Slash and focused his mind.

”Coat, Coat...”

Slashing forward with Dragon Slash, he quickly guided the Blue Steel Shadow Energy to coat the Blade Aura before it spread from Ring Break.

Just at this moment, an abnormal change occurred!

Kaka~

A cracking sound was heard; instead of spreading, the Blade Aura from Ring Break changed form, sprouting thin, pale blue spikes along the circular Blade Aura.

As the circular Blade Aura formed, it surrounded Su Xiao, causing the half-meter-long spikes to shoot toward him rapidly.

Bang. Bang....

In less than a second, Su Xiao became a porcupine, the pale blue spikes extremely sharp, piercing his skin and muscle as easily as tearing through paper.

Blood dripped onto the floor, the circular Blade Aura and spikes around Su Xiao disappeared, and with a thud, he collapsed onto the ground.

Nearly dying while developing a technique; though it sounded somewhat laughable, more than a tenth of the strong perished this way.

The techniques developed for defeating enemies are inherently dangerous and unstable during development—this is the cost of developing techniques, the price of growing stronger.
