Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 521: Chapter 9: Songstress

Standing on a towering water tower, Su Xiao observed the situation inside the Hidden Mist Village through the scope.

The Spider Queen’s skill ’Optical Infrared Detector 8x (Active)’ is not truly eight times its actual range, despite its name suggesting so. The so-called eightfold range merely denotes the infrared detection range, within which the Spider Queen can detect the enemy’s body temperature and more.

By adjusting the settings, the range of the [Optical Infrared Detector 8x (Active)] can reach up to the effect of a 20x scope, but there is no infrared detection in this setting.

Adjusting it to this level, Su Xiao needed to slow his heartbeat and hold his breath, as breathing caused the 20x scope’s view to shake violently, making it impossible to lock onto the enemy.

Now, the Spider Queen had shifted from rapid-fire to single-shot mode, requiring precise calculation for each shot, taking 1 to 3 minutes to fire one shot.

Watching the Mist Ninja scattered in the scope like headless flies, Su Xiao remained vigilant. It’s only a matter of time before the Mist Ninja find him; he needed to retreat before being discovered.

Two minutes later, the Hidden Mist Village erupted like a stirred-up hornet’s nest, with a large group of ninjas rushing out from the village, certainly out to find Su Xiao.

At this moment, Su Xiao was a full 1.4 kilometers from the Hidden Mist Village—a straight-line distance—and the Spider Queen had a silencing feature, making it not so easy to find Su Xiao.

...

Ten minutes later.

In the Mizukage Office, Lady Mei Terumī sat at the Mizukage’s desk with furrowed brows.

She succeeded, and if all went well, she would become the next Mizukage in less than half a month. Previously, she lacked an opportunity, and Su Xiao’s appearance gave her that opportunity—a chance to make the warring faction edgy and reveal their weaknesses.

A ninja wearing a mask and dressed in black suddenly appeared in the Mizukage Office, holding a small box.

”Lady Mei Terumī, Qing’s White Eye has been found.”

Seeing that small box, Lady Mei Terumī did not show any emotional fluctuations; the White Eye might already be damaged, or it wouldn’t be boxed.

”Is it damaged?”

”...”

The member of the Mist Assassination Squad hung his head in silence.

”Qing’s body has been buried?”

”Not yet.”

”Give him a proper burial, and treat his family as heroes’ relatives.”

”Yes.”

The Anbu member showed some envy, as the heroes’ family treatment was indeed enviable. Just as he was about to step back, Lady Mei Terumī spoke again.

”Bury the White Eye with Qing,”

”Understood.”

Lady Mei Terumī thought for a moment and said: ”Anbu, find that thief at all costs. Also, share his profile with the other Four Great Countries, including his specific powers...”

Lightly tapping the desk, Lady Mei Terumī stood up.

”Mark him: Capable of assassinating Shadow Level...”

Before Lady Mei Terumī could finish her words, she suddenly sidestepped to leap away.

Smash! The glass window shattered, a dark bullet hole appeared on the desk, nearly breaking it apart.

Lady Mei Terumī stood up, not looking very happy.

”Persistent spirit.”

As she spoke, the Anbu had already dashed out from the window.

...

On a mountain at the edge of the Hidden Mist Village, Su Xiao pulled the Spider Queen’s bolt and ejected the magazine.

He fired a total of four shots, among which three were aimed at taking down Lady Mei Terumī, but all failed.

Su Xiao didn’t expect success; if Lady Mei Terumī were that easy to kill, that would indeed be odd.

”Woo.”

Bubu Wang’s barking came, and Su Xiao turned his head to see Bubu Wang holding two treasure chests in its mouth. With the divine skill ’You Can’t See Me’, Bubu Wang faced little risk in fetching the treasure chests.

Staying longer had no meaning; Su Xiao was ready to retreat. He had achieved his goal: reclaiming the treasure chests and letting the Mist Ninja know he hadn’t fled, thereby reducing their pursuit intensity and guiding them to search around the Hidden Mist Village instead.

Having taken the two treasure chests, one of which was Blue Quality, dropped by that Taijutsu Jonin; it was unfortunate that a Jonin only dropped a Blue Treasure Chest, somewhat unlucky.

The second treasure chest was a Purple Treasure Box, dropped by Qing.

Su Xiao was quite curious about what these two treasure chests might contain—ninjutsu? equipment?

If they yielded ninjutsu, he would hit the jackpot, as Chakra is one of the most popular power systems in Reincarnation Paradise, and the price of Ninja Scrolls remained high.

Now was not the time to open the chests; he needed to leave the Land of Water quickly, then find a faction to join.

Although escaping the Hidden Mist Village, leaving the Land of Water was not easy as it was surrounded by sea, and to reach wider lands required a boat.

Ships in the Naruto World were not highly advanced, generally powered by people rowing or large sailing ships.

...

One day later, at the border of the Land of Water, in a fishing village.

Inside some rundown wooden houses.

Tap-tap-tap~

An old man tapped his long smoking pipe, seemingly pondering something with his dim eyes.

”The route from the Land of Water to the Country of Fire is long, taking at least five days, and that’s if nothing unexpected happens.”

The old man looked at the young man not far away, in whom he smelled a faint blood scent—a common occurrence in the Land of Water.

”Is there no faster way?”

Su Xiao’s expression wasn’t good; he didn’t wish to join a faction within the Land of Water, where the Hidden Mist Village was the ’local power.’

”There is a way, but it is slightly difficult.”

”What way?”

”Taking a large ship, which only takes two days.”

”Thank you.”

Su Xiao placed a few bills in front of the old man; currency from the Naruto World, he had exchanged some in Reincarnation Paradise with Paradise coins.

The old man silently accepted the money without another word, as if he had never seen Su Xiao.

Leaving the dwelling, Su Xiao donned a hood as he stepped outside.

The Anbu of the Mist Ninja never gave up pursuit; had Su Xiao not been adept in stealth, there were times when those hunting hounds might have found him.

Leaving the Land of Water by fishing boat was no longer possible; he needed a large sailing ship, but the Land of Water was too poor, with few large sailing ships, and this small fishing village had none, struggling merely for subsistence.

The sky was a hazy grey; in this cursed place of the Land of Water, it rained for more than one-fifth of the year.

Drizzling rain fell; Su Xiao took out a map to make way to a nearby ’big city.’

...

Misty Rain Town.

This is a relatively prosperous town within the Land of Water, comparable in scale to some cities, located along the coast.

A coastal city like this should ideally have flourishing trade, but unfortunately, the Land of Water didn’t encourage commerce. The reason for its prosperity was its production of songstresses.

Songstresses in the Naruto World were somewhat similar to performing artists in the real world, differing from actors; some songstresses mastered ’ninjutsu’ without destructive power, thus able to stage exquisite performances.

On a large ship by the sea of Misty Rain Town, this ship was preparing to set sail, aiming for the Country of Fire, and then the Land of Thunder, ready for a tour performance.

A slender young girl stood on the deck, seemingly having just woken up. She stretched, showing her exquisite curves.

”Mr. Hino, when does the ship sail?”

Songstress Nao was naturally beautiful, her big eyes radiant.

”Very soon, no more than ten minutes.”

A short, plump middle-aged man gave Nao a fawning smile, making his ingratiation all too apparent.

”Hey, you over there, move the goods to the lower hold, don’t scatter them.”

The short, plump man cast a glance at a ’laborer’ carrying a wooden crate and then ignored him.

The ’laborer’ was very young, carrying a large wooden crate.

”These damned things.”

The ’laborer’ suddenly spoke, glancing towards Misty Rain Town, startling the short, plump man.

”What did you say!?”

The short, plump man was instantly infuriated, rolling up his sleeves to deal with this ’laborer.’

Not only the short, plump man was surprised; songstress Nao was too. She didn’t expect a ’laborer’ to be so feisty.

Swoosh~

A masked figure appeared on the deck, standing upright with a shinobi dagger strapped to his back.

”This is... the Assassination Squad!”

Songstress Nao instinctively stepped back; the Mist Assassination Squad was notoriously infamous.

”Just you alone?”

The ’laborer’ spoke, surprising Songstress Nao, did the person not want to live?

”I alone am enough; Lady Mizukage has ordered your capture.”

The word Mizukage startled everyone on board.

”Lady Mei Terumī has become the Mizukage? That’s surprising news.”

The ’laborer’ took off the ragged hemp garment, revealing a stout physique and a long knife in hand.

The laborer was Su Xiao in disguise; he was just moments away from sailing and leaving the Land of Water, but unfortunately, the Assassination Squad caught up. Yet, it wasn’t much of a concern; he just needed to deal with them, then he could sail away on this ship.
