Chapter 533: Chapter 21: The Bomb Duo

Su Xiao arrived near a wild campsite, and from the pile of extinguished charcoal, it was evident that Sasori and Deidara had stayed here for at least two days,

Ninjas not only have the glamour on the surface, but during missions, they endure the elements.

”Any missions recently?” Su Xiao asked.

”There’s a rather troublesome mission, to intercept and assassinate the Daimyo of River Country.”

Sasori was somewhat dissatisfied; he hated missions that involved waiting for the target to appear.

The Akatsuki Organization could be said to be lawless. Each Ninja Village had regulations prohibiting the assassination of foreign Daimyos, including those from medium-sized countries like River Country. Moreover, River Country borders the Country of Fire, separating it from the Wind Country, making most Ninja Villages hesitant to touch River Country.

The Akatsuki Organization does not care about such things; as long as there is a commission, they dare to take it, no matter which country’s Daimyo it is. If the price is right, they even dare to assassinate the Daimyo of the Fire Country.

Nagato dared to single-handedly challenge Konoha Village, let alone assassinating the Daimyo of the Fire Country.

”Are we just waiting here?”

”Yes, according to the spy’s information, the River Country Daimyo will pass through here. We’ve been waiting for two days.”

It seems the Akatsuki Organization is not completely lawless; otherwise, they wouldn’t choose a location in the wild for the assassination.

”At that time, you’ll be responsible for holding off the guards.”

”I can perform long-range sniping without getting close, reducing the risk of exposure.”

”Hmm?”

Sasori looked at Su Xiao, somewhat puzzled.

”You’ll understand when the time comes. If the guards aren’t strong, I can take down the enemy from a kilometer away.”

Su Xiao reignited the campfire and took out some food to roast.

”A kilometer... Alright, let’s hope nothing goes wrong.”

Sasori also wanted to get to know Su Xiao’s abilities, since the three of them would be working together in the future.

Whoosh~

The sound of something cutting through the air came from above, as a large white bird with a wingspan of about three meters flew by. This large bird seemed to be molded from white clay, belonging to Deidara who had gone out to gather clay.

The bird dove down, and a short blonde boy jumped off it.

The blonde boy had a short braid, his left eye covered by his hanging hair, and he wore an Iwa Shinobi Headband with a scratch on it, marking him as a rogue ninja of Iwagakure.

Deidara had returned from gathering clay. Though now an S-Level rogue ninja, he was only 19 years old, and according to the original storyline, Deidara would die at 19.

”Isn’t that the newcomer? Hmm.”

Deidara approached, sizing up Su Xiao. He often added a ”hmm” when speaking, as if to emphasize or confirm something.

”Yes, he’ll be working with us from now on.”

Sasori glanced at Deidara. Although they were teammates, their ideologies clashed, or rather, their understanding of art differed.

Sasori pursued eternal art, while Deidara sought the art of the moment, the explosion at that instant.

”I’m Deidara.”

Deidara greeted Su Xiao. Outside of combat, Deidara could be considered a straightforward and naive young man. His rogue ninja status largely stemmed from his clay explosion ability, although his personality did contain some degree of cruelty.

”Bai Ye.”

Su Xiao nodded at Deidara.

Deidara sniffed, squinting at Su Xiao.

”You have a smell of gunpowder... no, it’s a strange smell, a bomb?”

Bubu Wang looked at Deidara, a gaze seemingly recognizing a fellow kindred spirit~

”Bomb.”

Su Xiao raised his arm, and white spiders crawled out from his sleeve. Sasori showed some surprise, while Deidara leapt back.

”Do you know that old man Onogi?”

Deidara eyed Su Xiao warily; Su Xiao’s alchemy bombs were too similar to clay bombs.

As for the Third Tsuchikage Onogi, he was Deidara’s mentor. If Deidara hadn’t defected from the Iwagakure Ninja Village, he might have become the Fourth Tsuchikage.

Compared to Deidara, Onogi’s granddaughter Hei Tu was far less talented. If Deidara remained in Iwagakure, Hei Tu wouldn’t stand a chance for the Fourth Tsuchikage.

Onogi was strict in teaching Deidara, and the unruly Deidara feared only one person: the Third Tsuchikage Onogi.

”I’ve never met him.”

Su Xiao held a white spider made from an alchemy bomb. A few seconds later, Deidara furrowed his brow.

”This is... ”

Walking forward slowly, Deidara didn’t touch the alchemy bomb but faintly noticed something.

”This is another kind of bomb, similar to a clay bomb in appearance, but with a significant difference in texture.”

Deidara eased his guard; he previously thought Su Xiao was connected to Iwagakure.

”How do you make this thing?”

Seeing the alchemy bomb in Su Xiao’s hand, Deidara was clearly interested in it.

”65% gunpowder, 25% rare soft metal...”

Su Xiao gave Deidara a brief overview of the alchemy bomb’s composition.

”Metal? Bombs can integrate metal?”

”Yes, but it requires energy to harmonize, and the metal’s properties must be soft and unstable to enhance the explosive power.”

”Hmm, makes sense. But clay is a better choice; this type of metal is hard to find and replenishing it is inconvenient.”

Su Xiao and Deidara exchanged some bomb-making insights, yet neither revealed their core knowledge.

Sasori glanced at the two, deciding internally to be cautious during missions in the future. Having one bomb enthusiast in the squad was dangerous enough, now there was another.

”It’s for you.”

Su Xiao tossed an Intermediate Alchemy Bomb to Deidara, who hesitated briefly before catching it. With the two of them in close proximity, Su Xiao couldn’t detonate the bomb.

”What’s this thing for?”

Deidara squeezed the alchemy bomb, intrigued by it.

”After infusing your spiritual power, you can control it too.”

”Oh?”

Deidara seemed doubtful, as no one else could control his clay bombs.

The alchemy bomb in Deidara’s hand changed shape, forming a snake at one moment and a small bird at another.

”It’s easier to control.”

Deidara’s eyes sparkled, looking at Su Xiao as if contemplating bombing him half to death, then extracting the alchemy bomb formula.

Su Xiao watched the white bird flying in mid-air, an alchemy bomb-made bird. Despite attempts, he still couldn’t make it fly.

”How do you do it?”

”What?”

”Make it fly.”

Deidara smiled without responding. Su Xiao didn’t press further; after all, they had just met. Expecting to exchange bomb-related knowledge wasn’t realistic. Mutual trust was lacking, though there might be opportunities to exchange after collaborating for a while.

”They’re coming; the River Country Daimyo will pass here in half an hour.”

Sasori’s low, raspy voice interrupted Su Xiao and Deidara’s discussion.

Although Su Xiao and Deidara were meeting for the first time, and their auras were different, there were no signs of hostility.

”Show me your long-range sniping ability; I’m very curious.”

Su Xiao nodded, surveying the area for a vantage point.

”What are you looking for?” Deidara asked.

”High ground.”

”High ground? Like a higher place?”

”Yes.”

Deidara put his hand into a pouch on his waist, containing specially processed clay. The mouth on his palm bit off a piece of clay, chewing it slowly.

After a few seconds of chewing, the mouth on Deidara’s palm spat out a small bird-shaped clay figurine.

With hand seals and a puff of white smoke, the clay bird, initially palm-sized, transformed into a large bird with a five-meter wingspan.

Deidara jumped onto the bird, and it took to the air somewhat.

”There isn’t anywhere higher nearby than flying up.”
