Chapter 537: Chapter 25: Shameless Combination

”Great Flame Bomb.”

Jiraiya puffed out his cheeks and spewed brown oil from his mouth, which ignited into a fierce blaze as soon as it left his lips.

This technique was extremely ruthless, as it wasn’t just about a single burn. If the oil stuck, the flames would keep burning.

Seeing Jiraiya give up using Rasengan, Su Xiao was a bit disappointed. He swung Dragon Slash forward in his hand.

Clink.

The iron-hard white hair was severed, and Su Xiao descended towards the ground as the flaming oil shot towards him.

Just as Su Xiao was about to be engulfed by the flames, a clay bird with a wingspan of about four meters flew under his feet and carried him up, flying sideways.

Whoosh~

The oil splashed onto the ground, the flames spreading and continuing to burn.

Standing on the back of the clay bird, Su Xiao couldn’t help but appreciate his teammates’ support at the most critical moment.

”Well done.”

Sasori looked at the wound on Jiraiya’s chest still gushing blood. He understood why Pain recruited Su Xiao, whose close combat ability surpassed anyone in Akatsuki.

Jiraiya gazed at Su Xiao in the sky, a strand of white hair reaching his chest as it quickly stitched the wound closed.

”That should do it.”

Jiraiya was worthy of being one of the Three Ninja; facing the siege of Su Xiao and the others, aside from being slashed once by Su Xiao, no other attacks hit him.

With blood stained on his thumb, Jiraiya pressed a single hand onto the ground.

”Summoning Technique.”

Bang.

A large puff of white smoke rose with voices conversing within.

”It’s Jiraiya.”

”Hmm, sorry to trouble you, Gamaken.”

”No problem, I’m clumsy, but I’ll do my best to help you.”

The white smoke cleared, revealing Jiraiya standing on the back of a giant toad. The toad was massive, as big as a two-story building, holding a U-shaped steel fork in one hand and a giant shield like a pot lid in the other.

Gamaken was not weak, an ideal Summoning Beast, fierce in battle, obeying commands, and most importantly, loyal.

Some Summoning Beasts would flee in times of crisis, returning to their Spatial Realm, but Gamaken was different. As long as his summoner didn’t command otherwise, he would fight until near death or even die, which was rare among Summoning Beasts.

”Gamaken, be careful. There are three enemies: one uses bombs, another controls a puppet, and one specializes in close combat.”

”Hmm, I’ll hold off the close combat and the puppet.”

”Good.”

Jiraiya looked towards Deidara in the sky, planning to eliminate the aerial threat first. The various types of bombs were highly irritating and extremely dangerous.

”Sasori, hold him off. You don’t need to hurt him, just keep him busy.”

Su Xiao shouted high in the sky.

”Okay.”

Sasori gauged the tactics the three intended to use, a strategy almost shameless.

”Stall the enemy... with that.”

Sasori took out a scroll, a storage scroll.

Bang, white smoke rose as Sasori summoned a puppet, a man in a black robe. The man’s skin, due to preservation treatment, appeared slightly dark, with joints bearing signs of fixation.

”This person is...”

Jiraiya halted the ninjutsu he was about to release upon recognizing the puppet.

”The Third Kazekage!”

Jiraiya took a deep breath, having once faced the Third Kazekage. In his youth, the iron sand almost took his life.

Even today, Jiraiya had remnants of iron sand in his arm that couldn’t be removed.

Inside the Scarlet Stream Tiger, Sasori waved his hand, and the Third Kazekage flew into the air. Iron particles from the earth floated, gradually forming into an Iron Sand Hammer.

Under Sasori’s control, the iron sand hammer struck towards Jiraiya. Seeing the attack coming, Gamaken raised the giant shield in hand to block it.

Bang!

A loud crash spread as dust billowed, Jiraiya using the moment the dust spread to form seals.

”Shadow Clone Technique.”

Bang. Two shadow clones appeared within the dust.

As the smoke dissipated, Jiraiya still stood behind Gamaken. The two shadow clones vanished, Jiraiya formulating a strategy. If successful, at least two of the three Akatsuki members present would remain.

Jiraiya was unaware that one of the most frustrating battles of his life was about to begin.

”Bai Ye, formation C.”

Deidara, high in the sky, grinned, forming a gun shape with his hand aimed at Jiraiya. The so-called formation C was just to confuse the enemy, making them think the three had long collaborated, creating psychological pressure.

”Same idea.”

Su Xiao pulled the Spider Queen from his storage space, with 11 minutes remaining on the active 8x Optical Infrared Detector.

Deidara maneuvered the clay bird beneath Su Xiao, flying off to a distance of about a kilometer before stopping.

Su Xiao crouched on the clay bird’s back, drank an Alchemy Secret Medicine to stabilize his injuries, aiming the sight at Jiraiya behind the giant toad.

As soon as the gun was aimed at Jiraiya, Jiraiya sensed it.

”This feeling... super long-range ninjutsu.” ℯ

Jiraiya had an extremely strong perception force. Su Xiao hadn’t even fired, yet Jiraiya sensed it, making it impossible to snipe him alone.

Su Xiao wasn’t alone; he had two very strong teammates.

”Iron Sand Shower.”

A dense array of iron sand shot towards Jiraiya, as he flicked his white hair, sweeping away all the iron sand.

Su Xiao pulled the trigger. The firing pin struck the bullet’s base, creating a dent, shooting the bullet out. It accelerated through the rifling, exiting the barrel.

Whiz~

Due to the distance, the bullet emitted a slight breaking void noise, slicing through air like waves.

The bullet flew toward Jiraiya’s head. Just as he deflected the Iron Sand Shower, he was replenishing energy.

The bullet reached within 100 meters of Jiraiya, a sting emanating from the back of his head, a familiar sensation.

Crunch.

Blood splattered as the bullet embedded itself, blasting a hole as wide as an arm, causing Gamaken beneath Jiraiya to grunt.

At that moment, Jiraiya tilted his head, a finger-thick hole in the white hair on the side of his neck, severed hair falling, stained red by Gamaken’s blood.

”Impressive power.”

Jiraiya’s brow furrowed, realizing things were off today. He predicted the enemy’s attack would hit Gamaken, and although he dodged the bullet, he still used his hair to block it.

Proving a heavy sniper rifle could penetrate Jiraiya’s hair.

”Iron Sand Spear.”

Sasori controlled the Third Kazekage’s attack, an iron sand spear forming, three meters long, aimed not at Jiraiya but Gamaken.

All three, Su Xiao included, noticed the Summoning Beast’s strong defense ability, making it hard to harm Jiraiya with it around.

As expected, the iron sand spear was blocked by Gamaken’s big shield. Gamaken swung the U-shaped iron fork, shattering the iron sand spear with a clang.

Gamaken just blocked Sasori’s attack, and Su Xiao immediately fired.

A crunching noise, the bullet drilling into Gamaken’s skull, a blood hole bursting. Jiraiya’s hair, attempting to block the bullet, was penetrated again.

Gamaken’s huge size and high body strength could withstand dozens of shots, with Jiraiya’s hair reducing bullet kinetic energy.

A gentle breeze swept through the battlefield, and Jiraiya knew continuing like this wouldn’t work. He had grasped the enemy’s attack methods and was ready to counterattack.

Just as he planned to retaliate, a whistling sound came overhead. A clay bird flew past, dropping several white substances as it passed — the team’s ’bomber,’ Deidara, had arrived.
