Chapter 542: Chapter 30: Trap

Goo, goo~

The sound of birds chirping came, and the two people in the room looked out the window.

Googoo goo~

The chirping sounded more urgent.

”Let’s go.”

Su Xiao opened the window, jumped out, and quickly ran towards the nearby forest with Deidara following closely behind.

Not long after entering the forest, Su Xiao heard some low conversations.

”I won’t say anything.”

Following the direction of the voice, Su Xiao found Sasori.

Sasori was hiding inside the Scarlet Stream Tiger, next to him lay a Hidden Mist Ninja.

The Mist Ninja’s body trembled slightly, unable to make any movements other than speaking softly.

Sasori hadn’t infiltrated the Hidden Mist Village; he was waiting around the village, capturing Mist Ninjas on missions outside.

This Jonin was captured shortly after leaving the village, poisoned and paralyzed.

”Did you get anything?”

Su Xiao lifted the Jonin lying on the ground, propping him up against a tree.

”Bai Ye!”

The Jonin looked at Su Xiao with surprise.

”You recognize me?”

”I guarded you once.”

The Jonin glanced at Su Xiao, eyes filled with disdain.

”What’s your name? Never mind, I’ll call you Dog Taro, it’s a fitting name.”

Su Xiao squatted in front of Dog Taro, who sneered coldly.

”Call me whatever you want, kill me or do whatever, but you won’t get anything from me. I’ve had professional training.”

Dog Taro remained calm; after all, he was a Jonin who had survived many life and death experiences.

”Do any of you know how to interrogate?”

Su Xiao looked at Deidara and Sasori; he wasn’t too interested in interrogating the Jonin, whose mental defenses were strong, requiring violent methods.

”I know a bit, but it’s unlikely we’ll get anything.”

Sasori wasn’t proficient in interrogation; he excelled in puppet-making.

”Don’t look at me; my interrogation method is just cutting off limbs, probably useless.”

Deidara shrugged, indicating he had no solutions.

”Seems it’s down to me, though I’m not fond of violent interrogation.”

Su Xiao took out a dagger, Dog Taro looked surprised.

”Is that all? Are you looking down on me?”

Su Xiao stabbed the dagger into Dog Taro’s chest; Dog Taro merely frowned.

”Good pain resistance. To prevent you from screaming, let’s gag you first.”

Su Xiao tore a piece of cloth from Dog Taro’s clothes to gag him, as Blue Steel Shadow Energy covered the dagger, slowly infiltrating Dog Taro’s body.

”Mmm!”

Dog Taro’s eyes widened, and his eyeballs turned bloodshot.

”Feel with your ’heart’; until your chakra runs out, the pain won’t fade.”

After a dozen seconds, ’Dog Taro’ was a pile of flesh, eyes glazed over, snot and tears mixing.

”Did he die?”

Deidara kicked Dog Taro, but there was no response.

Su Xiao grabbed one of Dog Taro’s ears and sliced it off with his dagger, still no reaction.

Tossing the ear aside, Su Xiao pried open Dog Taro’s tightly shut eyes.

”His nervous system is close to collapsing; he might still be able to speak.”

Su Xiao removed the cloth from Dog Taro’s mouth, who looked at him dazedly.

”Kill... kill me.”

Dog Taro’s voice was wooden and numb, with pleading and longing intertwined.

”Answer a few questions.”

Dog Taro turned his head, refusing to betray the Hidden Mist Village.

”He’s got guts.”

Su Xiao swiftly slit Dog Taro’s throat with the dagger.

[You have killed Jonin Red Well]

[Red Well was an ordinary plot character, gained 0.6% World Source, now totaling 10.6%.]

[Your Talent ’Soul Eater’ activated, permanently increasing Mana Value by 13, now at 1476 Mana Points.]

The gain wasn’t significant. The Jonin wasn’t defeated by Su Xiao, and was just a side character, despite having some strength.

”Nothing we can do; should we catch another? I don’t believe all Mist Ninjas have such strong willpower.”

”There’s another lower ninja.”

Sasori flashed away, returning shortly with a lower ninja tied up by the Iron Tail of Scarlet Stream Tiger.

”A lower ninja...”

Su Xiao wasn’t hopeful; lower ninjas knew too little, though they were easier to interrogate.

”Answer a few questions and we’ll let you go.”

The lower ninja nodded desperately, and Deidara removed the cloth from his mouth.

”Huf, huf~, who are you...”

Dangling in mid-air, the lower ninja gasped for breath until he saw the Jonin’s corpse.

”Teacher Red Well.”

The lower ninja gulped with difficulty, his lips trembling.

”Are Mist Ninjas so low-quality now?”

Deidara looked at the lower ninja, who was almost frightened to the point of wetting his pants, somewhat surprised.

”How is the radical faction’s power in the village now?”

Su Xiao asked for the information they sought; once confirmed, they would know the next steps.

”I won’t...”

Bang.

Deidara punched the lower ninja in the stomach as Su Xiao approached with a bloody dagger.

In the pitch-black forest, surrounded by three villains in clothes with red clouds on black, it was nothing short of terrifying, especially with a corpse nearby.

”Answer the questions; you have one chance.”

The pressure of being surrounded by Su Xiao and the others was immense, breaking the lower ninja’s defenses without torture.

”I... I haven’t heard of any radical faction.”

The lower ninja wasn’t lying, so Deidara grabbed his neck.

”I’m not lying, I really don’t know what the radical faction is. Didn’t you say you’d let me go if I answered questions? W-wait.”

Crack.

The lower ninja’s neck was snapped by Deidara; trusting the enemy’s words, it seemed the lower ninja had just graduated.

”What now? Keep catching?”

”Yeah, I’ll go.”

Sasori controlled Scarlet Stream Tiger to move away, leaving Su Xiao and Deidara waiting.

A few hours later, the sound of clothing dragging on the ground came, unique to Scarlet Stream Tiger. Sasori often swapped out his Akatsuki uniform every half month due to wear and tear.

Seeing Scarlet Stream Tiger at this moment, Su Xiao raised an eyebrow.

”Is this a whole class?”

At this moment, a line of ninjas dangled from Scarlet Stream Tiger: one Jonin and three lower ninjas.

This time, Sasori interrogated, with methods much bloodier.

After three lower ninjas died, the almost broken Jonin surrendered; not all Jonin were as resolute as Red Well.

”After the village’s peace, Lady Mizukage began absorbing the radical faction. With the three leaders of the radical faction mysteriously disappearing, there were no opposing voices in the village, and the radical faction crumbled; now everyone listens to the Fifth Mizukage, no opposition.”

The Jonin spoke, looking longingly at the dagger in Su Xiao’s hand, having been tortured beyond recognition by Sasori.

A quick throat slash, yielding no World Source, Su Xiao only gained 12 Mana Points.

The so-called radical faction no longer existed; if true, this mission was a trap.

”Things are getting more complicated; this is beyond the mission’s scope. I disagree with continuing this kind of mission.”

Deidara was the first to express.

”Agreed.”

”Motion seconded.”

Though Su Xiao had a grudge against Mei Terumī, he refused to be used as a pawn.

”I’ll contact the leader.”

Sasori formed seals, using the Phantom Lantern Body Jutsu, while Su Xiao and Deidara waited.

In their team of three, Nagato trusted Sasori the most; mission details always communicated by Konan to Sasori, and in case of emergencies, Sasori would contact Nagato.
