Chapter 687: Chapter 686: Mordred’s Personal Opinion

”Boom!!”

The explosion sounded, and Fang Zheng lifted his head, seeing the dust and smoke not far away.

As expected, trouble! But...

He glanced around, at this moment, because of the explosion, many people had already left their rooms. They stood at the doors and windows, curiously looking toward the source of the noise.

Things had become troublesome, Fang Zheng of course knew that in this city there were many Familiar Spirits of the World Tree of a Thousand Realms. If possible, he did not want his battle to be witnessed by them... but now...

There was no other way, he had to use that!

With this thought, Fang Zheng turned around and hurriedly ran into a nearby alley, then he raised his right hand, and quickly, the pitch-black greatsword appeared again in Fang Zheng’s hand. He gripped the greatsword and then thrust it powerfully into the ground.

”Seal!”

The hot flames, at this moment, burned the entire world.

”What’s going on?”

Red Saber’s eyes widened in surprise as she watched the flames approaching her like a raging flood. She instinctively raised her weapon in front of her, but to Red Saber’s surprise, she did not feel the hot airwaves and high temperatures accompanying the flames. Instead, when she looked up again, she found that everything had changed.

The original house had already vanished without a trace, replaced by what looked like an enormous abandoned city, and she and Illya were standing atop the high walls of this city.

”Is this... an Inherent Barrier?”

Perceiving the magical aura in the air, Red Saber also scoffed coldly. She gripped her longsword once again, looking at Illya in front of her.

”Very well, I didn’t expect you had this ability, so let’s see what else you can do!”

While shouting, Red Saber swung her sword again, chopping towards Illya. Illya, meanwhile, gripped the Holy Sword in her hands, gritting her teeth to face the enemy before her.

”Clang!!”

Their swords crossed, Red Saber’s swordsmanship was like a violent storm, fiercely attacking the enemy in front of her. Illya, using the power of a Heroic Spirit obtained through ”Phantasmal Summoning”, desperately held on. Sword after sword, then another, the two engaged in battle atop the high wall.

The fierce Sword Qi howled, tearing apart the broken stones on the high wall. Illya, relying on the Holy Sword in her hands, barely blocked the opponent’s attacks. Red Saber’s sword skills were so fierce that even Illya felt almost unmatched...

”Haah!!”

Red Saber swung her longsword once again, this time Illya could not hold on, and with a huge impact, she was sent flying backward, falling to the ground.

This is bad!

Realizing the dire situation, Illya quickly tried to roll over and get up, but as she just lifted her head, she saw a steel boot stomping down hard towards her. Illya could only curl up her body, trying to dodge this fierce blow, but unexpectedly, at the moment the steel boot hit the ground, it suddenly changed direction and kicked her in the abdomen.

”Ugh——!”

Accompanied by a muffled groan, Illya was sent flying like a cannonball and then crashed heavily into a nearby wall. The petite girl slid down along the wall, collapsing against it. At the same time, Red Saber’s blade ruthlessly stabbed toward Illya’s chest.

”Clang!!”

But in the last moment, Illya mustered the strength to swing her sword, blocking Red Saber’s nearly fatal blow. As a result, her longsword did not pierce Illya’s heart but instead grazed her shoulder and lodged into the wall beside Illya.

”Who are you, actually...?!”

Red Saber stared coldly at Illya, her voice tinged with anger and agitation she couldn’t hide. At first, she was simply enraged by the Holy Sword in the opponent’s hand, but as their fight continued, the fury within Red Saber grew more and more intense.

Because she was none other than—Mordred.

The last Knight of the Round Table in the legend of King Arthur who betrayed him, ultimately leading to King Arthur’s death, and also his child.

Mordred had once believed she would inherit it all, but that was not the case, the King formally told her—”I do not intend to acknowledge you as my child, nor will I entrust the throne to you.”

In that moment, Mordred finally realized, no matter how hard she tried, no matter how exceptional she was, she could never gain King Arthur’s recognition.

Anger was born in her heart at that moment, and afterwards, she finally raised the banner of betrayal and destroyed everything King Arthur had once possessed.

It was for this reason, upon seeing the Holy Sword in Illya’s hand, that she became so furious.

That was the symbol of the King, which should have been her proof, but now, it was held in the hands of this little girl! Why could this little girl obtain what she, after exhausting all her efforts, could not?!

Initially, for Mordred, that was all. But as the battle between her and Illya progressed, the rage in Mordred’s heart grew fiercer. For the more she fought, the more she realized, the swordsmanship used by this girl was nearly identical to King Arthur’s.

Who exactly is she?!!

Mordred felt her head was about to explode, though this girl’s swordsmanship seemed somewhat green and immature, it was undoubtedly King of Knights’ sword skill. Mordred could vouch for it, she was certain; this was the King’s sword skill but... the girl in front of her couldn’t possibly be King Arthur. Not to mention the age was not right, her hair color and appearance were vastly different from King Arthur’s.

But precisely because of that, Mordred grew even angrier.

Because she had a very unpleasant thought.

Why does this girl possess the Holy Sword? Why does she have the King’s sword skill?

There was only one answer, she was the true heir to King Arthur! She was the one who inherited the King’s Holy Sword and was going to inherit the throne, the child acknowledged by King Arthur!

Yes, it was her, the one who had taken everything from her, it must be so!

”Who exactly are you!?”

This time, Mordred almost roared out the question, racking her brains but unable to recall when King Arthur had a child, although it was well-known that King Arthur was married to Guinevere. However, Mordred was well aware that there were no children between the King and Guinevere, and he had no other women, so how could she have had a child?

All she wanted to know now was this, yet Illya was totally unable to answer her question.

In fact, Illya didn’t even understand what SABER was talking about.

”Since you refuse to answer, then go die!!”

Mordred gave up asking any more, and again raised her weapon high, thrusting it forcefully towards Illya—this time, she would not miss.

But in the next moment, Mordred suddenly turned around and swung her sword, striking a pitch-black arrow. The sparks of metal clashed instantly flashed, then Mordred quickly retreated, while simultaneously, Illya seized the opportunity to leap up and stand again.

”Little Hei, perfect timing!”

”Hah...”

And at a distance, on a tall tower, Little Hei held a longbow, helplessly staring at the distant castle walls, and sighed deeply.

”Really, why is it that every time I, as the older sister, have to clean up after you, my younger sister?”
