Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 684: Chapter 683: Chaotic Opening

”......”

As Fang Zheng turned around, Black SABER raised his greatsword seriously. Just a moment ago, he had considered intervening in the battle between the two parties. Although this person seemed to be an ally, for the time being, no one knew what was actually going on. Moreover...

Black SABER involuntarily glanced at Gold. He should be thankful that his master had been too shocked just now, so much so that for a moment he hadn’t responded to issue any commands. Otherwise, if Gold had ordered Black SABER to join forces with that mysterious person to attack Red LANCER, then Black SABER also didn’t know if he should carry out the command.

Fang Zheng stared coldly at Black SABER. To be honest, he really wanted to kill this guy, but after hesitating for a moment, Fang Zheng turned around instead. The radiance of magic flickered across his body, and the next moment Fang Zheng disappeared into the wilderness.

”It seems, this battle ends here.”

While saying this, RULER once again looked at the two people in front of her.

”Then, I shall take my leave.”

”Ah, please wait, Miss RULER!”

Hearing RULER’s statement, Gold rushed to the girl’s side, as if awaking from a dream.

”Please consider traveling to our World Tree of a Thousand Realms castle, it’s relatively safer there...”

”No need, as a RULER, I can sense all battles within this region. As soon as a battle occurs, I will naturally go to investigate.”

With that, the girl turned and left directly. Watching her departing figure, Gold bit his teeth and clenched his fists. After a while, he scoffed coldly and turned toward a car parked beside the other side of the road.

”I really didn’t expect to waste a Command Seal just as the battle started.”

When Red LANCER opened his eyes again, the first thing he heard was a very relaxed voice. Accompanying this voice, a young man dressed in a priest’s uniform, with brown skin and white hair, approached with a smile. This man was the commander of this time’s Red Faction Camp, as well as the supervisor sent by the Church—Kotomine Shirou.

He wasn’t Red LANCER’s master, but when Red LANCER had been summoned, the first person he saw upon opening his eyes was him. According to the priest, the other MASTERS wouldn’t show themselves for safety reasons, leaving him to relay commands and execute plans—although it sounded as if there was something amiss, but for Red LANCER, these things didn’t matter; he just needed to complete his mission.

But... the mission had failed.

”I really didn’t expect you to fail,”

Behind the priest, several other Servants also materialized, like Red LANCER, summoned to the Red Faction Camp. Frankly, they all agreed that Red LANCER possessed the most formidable power and skills among them, but unexpectedly even he had failed in what was merely meant to be a preliminary battle, finding himself in a situation where he had to use a Command Seal to escape.

”The opponent was well-prepared.”

Red LANCER replied gravely, reflecting on the fight. During the battle, he hadn’t thought much, but thinking back, every move of that knight had almost perfectly predicted his own responses. His fighting wasn’t for probing or a desperate struggle, but had a clear objective ”to kill him.”

Every attack from the start of the battle was aimed at achieving this purpose, and... without hesitation.

”That was really close.”

The smile on Kotomine Shirou’s face did not change in the slightest.

”Honestly, I was worried whether you’d manage to escape successfully, especially since there are Noble Phantasms that once entangled can make escape impossible.”

”It was good luck on my part that I managed to avoid that fate.” free𝑤ebnovel.com

Red LANCER spoke faintly, and as he said, Red LANCER had managed to break free largely because of the Noble Phantasm he possessed—a set of strong armor that protected Red LANCER and weakened all hostile interventions against him. It was precisely because of that Golden Armor Noble Phantasm that the binding power of the adversary was greatly diminished; otherwise, even with the support of the Command Seal, it would have been unlikely for Red LANCER to escape the bindings of Lock of Heaven.

”I was merely taking a chance.”

Kotomine Shirou smiled slightly and walked over to sit on a chair nearby.

”At that time, since the adversary could bring out that Noble Phantasm, they must have been confident about trapping you. In such a situation, I had no choice but to go all in. After all, the battle had just begun, and we could not afford to lose our strongest Servant...”

Upon saying this, the priest’s expression also turned serious.

”So, can we confirm the adversary’s identity? Although they appear to be SABER, the Black Side has obviously already summoned a SABER. It’s impossible to summon two SABERS simultaneously; if they truly used such a method, RULER wouldn’t just stand by and watch. Regarding this Heroic Spirit, do you have anything to say?”

”Of course.”

Hearing Kotomine Shirou’s question, Red LANCER silently nodded.

”First, I must clarify one thing, the adversary is not a Heroic Spirit or a Servant; they are human.”

”... What?”

Astounded cries echoed in the hall, Gold stared at Black SABER in front of him, clenching his teeth.

”Don’t joke around, SABER! Are you trying to say that Red LANCER was defeated by a human?”

”Exactly, MASTER.”

Black SABER nodded.

”Servants generally have a sense of each other; I could feel that the knight was not summoned like Red LANCER and me, composed of Magic Power in a Spiritual Body. They were not like RULER, who descended and manifested in a living person. Instead, they were utterly human... If I need to be more specific, they were more like the heroic figures that would appear in the myths and legends of our era.”

”What a joke! How could such an existence possibly appear nowadays?!”

Gold shook his head; he even doubted whether his Servant was lying. In this era, it seemed impossible for a figure from the age of legends and myths to exist. If such a powerful person really existed, the magicians would definitely not be oblivious. Could this person have just sprung from the cracks in a rock?

”Gold, don’t be hasty.”

At this time, Danik, who had been silent, finally spoke.

”Regardless of who the person is, from their actions, it’s clear they bear us no ill will. Besides, thanks to him, the Red Faction’s MASTER has already used a Command Seal. For us, that’s good news, isn’t it?”

”Yes... Mr. Danik, of course, I understand...”

Gold’s face, full of flesh, trembled as he struggled to find the right words. Initially, Gold had taken the initiative to attack with SABER, partly to display the bravery of his Servant and partly to try to sway RULER to their camp. Now, those purposes had not been achieved.

RULER had not accepted his invitation, and the spotlight he was supposed to have was stolen by someone he didn’t know!

As a result, he ended up looking like a fool, wasting so much time!

What absolute misfortune!
