Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 660: Chapter 659: Science and Technology are the Primary Productive Forces

”Alright, Mr. Fang Zheng...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Yoshino nodded with a somewhat tense expression. The little one wasn’t fond of fighting. But this time, she had heard that Fang Zheng was going to rescue an imprisoned Elf, so she also decided to assist them... Of course, Fang Zheng would not let Yoshino personally enter the fray and battle with those Magicians.

However, since he brought Yoshino along, naturally he had his reasons.

Yoshino walked up in front of them, then she closed her eyes, clasped her hands together, and placed them in front of her chest. Soon, a cold chill began to spread from her feet to the surrounding areas, and not long after, an icy wind howled into being, accompanied by a blanket of snowflakes that enveloped the entire valley.

Yoshino could manipulate cold and water, and for this reason, it was always raining where she was. It was only because Yoshino hadn’t been able to control her power very well. Now, after being taught by Fang Zheng and Kurumi, Yoshino could not only control her power but also maintain her presence in the Present Realm, so she wasn’t ”randomly” returning to the Borderland anymore.

Now, Yoshino was using her power to create a blizzard. As this area was deep in the snowy mountains, blizzards were quite normal here. This would not only obscure others’ vision but also ensure that the enemy couldn’t leave. After all, in such adverse weather conditions, neither vehicles nor planes could operate. It could be said that the moment the blizzard started, the base had already become an isolated island.

The snow around them increased, even reaching the level of large, feather-like flakes. One could hardly see the surroundings if a bit farther away. And with the howling bitter winds, ordinary people simply couldn’t withstand such a blizzard. Thanks to his keen vision as a member of the Dragon Race, Fang Zheng had already seen soldiers who had been guarding at the base entrance and sentry posts hastily return to camp. After all, standing guard outside in these conditions could cost lives.

”Let’s go, Kurumi. Leave some of your clones here to protect Yoshino.”

”Yes, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Hearing Fang Zheng speak, Kurumi nodded, then snapped her fingers.

”Come out, ’us’!”

Following Kurumi’s words, the shadows at her feet suddenly spread out, and several clones emerged from them.

”Leave Yoshino to you all. Take good care of her, and if there’s any trouble, contact us using the prearranged signal.”

Fang Zheng immediately gave orders to Kurumi’s clones, who giggled and nodded.

”Don’t worry, Mr. Fang Zheng, I will certainly protect Yoshino.”

”Don’t mess up, ’me’. It would be quite embarrassing to make a blunder in front of Mr. Fang Zheng.”

”Then, I wish you all good fortune in battle.”

Looking at the clones in front of them, Fang Zheng and Kurumi nodded, then made a gesture. Soon, the two of them rapidly headed toward the direction of the base under the cover of the blizzard.

If it were just an ordinary base, it wouldn’t pose a challenge to Kurumi. Her Angel ”Chronos” possessed the power to manipulate time and shadows. Even the secret base of America’s Area 51 would be accessible to Kurumi. However, DEM’s base was not that simple. As an organization devoted to fighting and eliminating Elves, they would naturally consider the possibility of their base being invaded by Elves. Therefore, the interior of DEM’s base had what one might call a ”Barrier” Random Domain defense. As soon as an Elf intruded, it would trigger an alarm. Kurumi had come back empty-handed several times before because of this very reason.

But for Fang Zheng, this wasn’t a problem.

The shadows around them warped, and in the next moment, Fang Zheng and Kurumi stepped out from within the shadows, appearing inside a narrow and pitch-black sewer. A pungent smell hit them, causing both to frown involuntarily.

”Isn’t there a better way?”

Kurumi covered her nose, a look of dissatisfaction sweeping over her as she glanced at her feet, and she took a step back—As a young lady who loved cleanliness, she naturally despised such filthy and stinking spaces.

”For now, this place is relatively safe,”

Fang Zheng swept his gaze around the surroundings and then approached the cables near the wall. He raised his right hand and activated the scanning mode on the personal terminal he wore on his wrist. Soon, azure rays of light emanated from the bracelet, scanning the cables before him. Shortly after, a diagram of the base’s internal structure appeared on the screen before Fang Zheng.

”Even though it’s not the first time I’ve seen this, no matter how many times I look, I still find it incredibly impressive...”

Even Kurumi couldn’t help but remark upon witnessing this scene. It was quite embarrassing to say, given that an Angel who could manipulate shadows and time, Kurumi was one of the highest ranking beings in terms of combat power. But her strength, while perhaps easily able to defeat enemies, was somewhat useless against all this high-tech equipment. After all, before becoming an Elf, Kurumi was just an ordinary young lady, perhaps an excellent student with outstanding academic and character grades, but definitely not one of the new humans with an IQ of 320 who could code an operating system in a Gundam in five minutes. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

This was also why, even though Kurumi had been searching for the Second Elf for so long, her accomplishments were few and far between. DEM Corporation was, after all, a high-tech group, and faced with all sorts of encryption and stealth techniques, Kurumi could turn the Earth back to the Dinosaur Age but still be helpless against them.

For this reason, Kurumi had no choice but to employ the most inefficient strategy of using a sea of soldiers, sending her shadows to sneak into DEM Corporation to eavesdrop and steal information. Of course, this approach was highly risky. Kurumi’s shadows had only half her strength, and they could not use the Angel abilities. If they were discovered by a powerful Magician, they would only be facing death. Kurumi had sacrificed quite a few shadows before she finally managed to obtain some vague information about the Second Elf.

But what she had so desperately pursued and struggled to obtain was merely a matter of moving a few fingers for Fang Zheng... This reality made Kurumi’s feelings incredibly complex.

”Knowledge is power, technology is the primary productive force,”

Hearing Kurumi’s musings, Fang Zheng replied without turning back, then continued to carefully examine the data.

”Found it, ’Material A’ is indeed here.”

”Really?”

Upon hearing this, Kurumi quickly walked over to Fang Zheng’s side, disregarding her surroundings, and stared at the information on the screen before her, then took a deep breath.

”It seems we’ve come at just the right time.”

”Indeed,”

Fang Zheng nodded, and as Kurumi said, according to the data, ”Material A” was originally scheduled to be transported by airplane to a small island in the Pacific Ocean half an hour ago. However, due to the sudden blizzard, DEM Corporation had to suspend the transportation plan, and ”Material A” was currently placed in the deepest part of the underground warehouse, guarded by DEM’s Magicians.

Now that they had located ”Material A,” there was only one thing left for them to do.

”...How about it, Kurumi? Is the passage on the other side connected yet?”

While keeping his eyes on the screen, Fang Zheng asked. The plan was simple; once ”Material A’s” location was determined, Fang Zheng would have Kurumi use the shadows to pinpoint it. Then, at the right moment, he would overload the entire base’s internal core power, completely paralyzing the base’s power system. After that, while others were distracted, he and Kurumi would rush through the shadows to the underground warehouse and steal Material A... That was the straightforward plan!

”I’ve found it, we can act anytime!”

”Good!”

Hearing Kurumi’s response, Fang Zheng nodded, then extended his finger and lightly swiped across the screen before him.
