Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 679: Chapter 678: This Setting is Finally Being Used!

Hearing the fat man’s speech, the atmosphere in the hall suddenly became somewhat delicate.

”Uncle Gold, wasn’t it pre-discussed and decided to announce the True Name?”

Fiore looked uneasily at the fat man and asked in a low voice, to which Gold merely shook his head. freewebnøvel.coɱ

”I can’t reveal the True Name to anyone other than Danik. Disclosing my Servant’s True Name would have a fatal impact, so I prefer as few people as possible to know it.”

I almost forgot about that rule!

After hearing Gold’s response, Fang Zheng slapped his forehead, remembering that indeed there was such a setting in the Holy Grail War, which he recalled from when he first played the game. But since he never had to use it, Fang Zheng had forgotten about it.

That’s right, it was never used.

Despite the rule established in the original game, ”revealing a Servant’s True Name could likely allow the opponent to find a way to counter them,” it was in fact useless from the Fourth War all the way to the Fifth War; Fang Zheng’s memory held no instance where a Servant was killed specifically because their True Name was discovered...

Over time, Fang Zheng almost forgot about this setting.

Not to mention, in the game, if you drew a Five-Star Servant, you couldn’t wait to show it off to the whole world—who cared about that damn rule!

I’m European and I can draw Five Stars; you poor chief, don’t even think about Five Treasures in your lifetime if you don’t top-up!

The Holy Grail War is essentially a battle between Europeans and Africans; you think you can win to the end without a Five-Star Servant? It’s not happening!

But on second thought...

Contemplating this, Fang Zheng narrowed his eyes again, looking towards the fat man, Gold.

Looking at the situation, there seems to be no lethal weaknesses in the True Names revealed by those present. Whether it be Frankenstein, Jack the Ripper, or Vlad III, none had specific weaknesses. As for the remaining three, they were not very famous... at least not as universally known as heroes like King Arthur or Alexander the Great. If those three Masters weren’t lying, then their Servants should belong to ”legends within a certain civilization or domain.” In short, considering even someone like Fang Zheng, who had no knowledge of mythological legends, had never heard of their names, they certainly weren’t particularly famous.

But then again, if this fat man is so nervous about his Servant’s True Name, it implies that his Servant must be one of the ”world-renowned” kind and even more so, a hero who has been defeated with a specific weakness. Moreover, it is very likely that his hero wasn’t taken down due to a particular Noble Phantasm or magic effect, but rather there exists some physical flaw in his body...

Using a sword, taken down by stealth due to a physical defect, and a very famous hero... Big brother, do you know that by trying to hide it this way, you’re actually making it easier for someone to narrow down the target?

”Alright, I’ll make an exception for you,”

Danik seemed indifferent to this, showing a content smile on his face after hearing his reply.

”Then, we’ll take our leave first.”

Saying so, Gold bowed and then turned to leave with his Servant. Watching his departure, the enchanting woman on the other side huffed in dissatisfaction.

”It’s just summoning SABER, what’s there to be arrogant about!”

”Alright, let’s not discuss these irrelevant topics,”

Danik clapped his hands to signal everyone to stop dwelling on these trivialities.

”Now that we’re all here, I will announce our next course of action. As you all might have guessed, we will use this castle as our center for a thorough defensive battle. Does anyone have objections to this?”

”I have an objection.”

No sooner had Danik finished speaking than Fang Zheng spoke up, and upon hearing him, Danik turned to look at him.

”What is your objection, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

”My Servant is quite different from yours and isn’t well-suited for defensive battles. Thus, I plan to move around the outskirts and perform reconnaissance when necessary. I may also engage in combat depending on the situation. Is that alright?”

”Hmm...”

Upon hearing this, Danik thought for a moment. Indeed, by conventional wisdom, there is strength in numbers. However, Fang Zheng’s Servant was ASSASSIN, Jack the Ripper, who was clearly more suited for solo encounters. If they were thrust into a chaotic battle, they might not be effective at all. In that case, it might be better to let him act independently, as it could lead to unexpected gains.

”I understand, you may act independently, Mr. Fang Zheng. But please try not to stray too far from here, and retreat immediately if you encounter any danger. We will provide support when appropriate.”

”No problem.”

Hearing Danik’s response, Fang Zheng also silently heaved a sigh of relief inwardly. This was another reason why he had Illya pretend to be ASSASSIN. After all, Servants like LANCER and SABER are mostly suited for the frontline as the ADC, whereas CASTERS and ARCHERS could be used in a supporting role. Only the ASSASSIN is more suited for roaming rather than direct combat.

After all, Garen who doesn’t hide in the bushes wouldn’t be Garen.

After a brief discussion, everyone dissolved again. Since the Holy Grail War hadn’t started yet and both the opponents’ Servants and their goals were unclear, discussing battle plans further was meaningless. It would be more sensible to make targeted adjustments after the Servants on both sides had been revealed.

”Illya, you go back and rest first.”

As they left the hall, Fang Zheng gave an order to Illya. Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s instructions, Illya seemed a little surprised.

”And what about you, MASTER?”

”I’ll take a look around, and besides...”

While speaking, Fang Zheng lowered his head to glance at the floor beneath his feet.

”I have some matters to investigate. You go back and rest. If anything happens, you can discuss it with Kurumi.”

”Yes, MASTER.”

Illya obediently nodded, and then her figure disappeared into the air, vanishing without a trace. Fang Zheng fell silent for a moment before he turned to walk towards the other end of the corridor.

He pushed open the door and descended the stairs; soon, a massive ”Human Factory” appeared before Fang Zheng.

Hundreds of Artificial Humans were submerged in nutrient fluids, their eyes closed, with Magic Circuits shimmering intermittently all over their bodies. This was the largest trump card of the World Tree of a Thousand Realms—an endless reserve of Magic Power.

Generally, a Servant’s Magic Power is provided by their MASTER. The amount of Magic Power a MASTER has also relates to the combat effectiveness of the Servant. Matou Kariya of the Fourth War is a good example—if he had enough Magic Power, he could have used BERSERKER to cut down SABER, but each time the lack of Magic Power meant his efforts fell short.

Clearly aiming to avoid such situations, the World Tree clan had chosen a very special method to circumvent the Holy Grail System. By creating Artificial Humans with a large number of Magic Circuits, they used them as a source of Magic Power, sharing the burden that was supposed to be solely on the MASTER. This meant that as long as there was sufficient material to create Artificial Humans, one could have an unlimited Magic Power reserve.

In this case, there would be no need to worry about depleting Magic Power when releasing Noble Phantasms, and it would even be possible to deploy Noble Phantasms multiple times without concern for limitations. Little wonder the World Tree clan held such strong confidence in winning this Holy Grail War.

However, for Fang Zheng, his visit here wasn’t for such trivial matters.
