Chapter 669: Chapter 668: The Moment to Change History Has Arrived!

When Fang Zheng opened his eyes once more, they had already arrived at a vast prairie that stretched as far as the eye could see.

It was dawn at that moment, and if the information given to them by Nia was correct, then in six hours, a massive disaster would occur in this place, resulting in the deaths of one hundred thirty million people and bringing about a completely different transformation to this world.

And now, Fang Zheng and his companions had come here to prevent all this from happening.

”Are all of you ready?”

Fang Zheng turned around and looked at Kurumi and Yoshino, who stood behind him, both of them looking a bit tense. Kurumi, in particular, looked serious and somber, a clear departure from the elegant smile she usually wore.

”You all know what to do, but before we officially start the operation, there’s something I must remind you of.”

”What is it, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

Gazing at the surrounding prairie, Kurumi appeared somewhat restless, but she forced herself to calm down and faced Fang Zheng, asking him the question. Fang Zheng simply shrugged his shoulders, then looked at the two of them.

”Firstly, I want to tell you... do not underestimate the continuity of time.”

”Continuity?”

”It’s simple.”

Fang Zheng extended a finger as he looked at the puzzled Kurumi and Yoshino.

”We have traveled from the future to the past, and for this past, our future is certain, definite. At least in the future where you both resided, Kurumi and Yoshino, you two became elves, and that is a fact already established—so don’t think that by simply disrupting the enemy’s plan, we can prevent all this from happening.”

”So that’s why you chose this time period?”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s explanation, Kurumi furrowed her brow and asked. Previously, after accumulating enough Power of Time, her original proposal was to go back to half a year before the explosion, giving them ample time to eliminate the three prime culprits, and should they fail, they could have another chance. However, Fang Zheng had rejected Kurumi’s suggestion and instead chose this most aggressive time period—six hours before the great explosion thirty years ago.

”That’s right. Indeed, with our abilities, killing three human magicians is as easy as flipping one’s palm. But there’s no evidence to suggest that the world line would change because of their deaths.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng spread his arms.

”Remember, for us, the important point is—thirty years ago, those three lunatics created a disaster in an attempt to create elves. The Primordial Elf emerged as a result, followed by a series of events where she split her power, and transformed these powers into Spirit Crystals that she gave to you, Kurumi, and to Yoshino, turning you into elves... Of course, the unreliable Nia Honjo and Kotori Gokawa were no different. Therefore, the focus is on...”

At this point, Fang Zheng gently slid his finger forward.

”Thirty years later, elves like you exist in this world. However, this does not mean that the process in between is also fixed and unchanged. Indeed, in our known history, the appearance of elves is related to these three magicians. But that doesn’t really prove anything; even if we kill them a few years earlier, or even destroy all their notes and documents, it’s possible that fate could play a big joke on us. For instance, they might have disciples who could inherit their research, or some unrelated passerby could accidentally find records we might inadvertently leave behind...”

Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

”You know, this world is full of all sorts of accidents; maybe, no matter how much we do, we only change the process, but not the final outcome of ’elves emerging thirty years later’.”

”So, everything we’re doing is useless?”

Upon hearing this, Yoshino timidly asked, while Kurumi shook her head.

”I don’t care, Mr. Fang Zheng, you know what my goal is.”

”All right, I was just giving you a heads-up.”

Fang Zheng certainly knew that Kurumi didn’t care about the continuity of history and time; what she wanted was to change the past where she had killed her own friends and other innocents with her own hands.

For Kurumi, that was what mattered the most.

”In fact, we’ve come here precisely because the process can be changed... History has countless futures, but each has its reasons and foundations. And we’re here to destroy that foundation.”

Indeed, according to the intelligence Fang Zheng had gathered from Nia’s Angel, just before the great explosion, those three magicians were merely slightly capable of using some menial Magic Power, not so ordinary people. However, after the explosion, they developed the Random Domain and thus became powerful magicians.

That is to say, the emergence of the Random Domain was, in fact, closely related to that explosion.

The nature of the explosion was that these three magicians used their spells to condense the world’s Magic Power and incarnate it.

What Fang Zheng had to do was to destroy this ”foundation”.

As he had said, even if he killed these three people, fate might very well find another way to fix the future. However, this wasn’t an unchangeable situation.

That was to disrupt the spell at the most critical moment of the ritual, when the magic power was fully condensed, and then turn the magic power into firewood to burn it off completely.

In this way, the world would change from a ”Low-Magic World” to a ”World Without Magic”, and without the foundation of ”Magic Power”, fate would no longer be able to create ”Elves”, those extraordinary beings, no matter how hard it tried.

That’s why Fang Zheng had chosen this moment to come here.

”Kurumi, Yoshino, you both must follow my orders and act without the slightest hesitation, understood?”

Although he wasn’t sure if things would go smoothly, to be on the safe side, Fang Zheng still issued the command. Kurumi and Yoshino looked at each other and then nodded.

”All right, no problem.”

”I’ll do my best... Mr. Fang Zheng...”

Time passed by the minute and second.

When the sun reached its zenith at noon, three figures appeared above the plains.

What lay before them was a circular device—the Magic Power Furnace.

A powerful device capable of drawing magic power from the sky, the earth, and all things, then condensing it.

Next, by chanting the Elf Spell Formula, they could concentrate the world’s magic power at this point and then create an entirely new life form.

And with the birth of the elf, a new world that would envelop the real world would also take shape.

That was precisely the future the magicians yearned for.

Their world.

”It’s starting...”

Hiding in the shadows, watching everything in front of them, Kurumi’s voice trembled slightly, while Fang Zheng narrowed his eyes, focusing on the device. He could feel the vast magic power gradually condensing toward the Magic Power Furnace, becoming solidified. Accompanied by the chanting, the magic power around the Magic Power Furnace turned into shimmering Radiance and began to rotate.

But that wasn’t enough...

Fang Zheng clenched his fists, hidden in the shadows. Beside him, Kurumi trembled slightly. Sensing her nervousness, Fang Zheng reached out and placed his hand on her shoulder.

”Don’t be nervous, Kurumi. Remember, we have Zero Hour Resurgence, which means we have countless opportunities to change all this. If we don’t succeed this time, there will be a next time, so... you don’t need to pressure yourself too much. On the contrary, it might have the opposite effect.”

”Huh... Thank you, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Kurumi closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and her previously rigid expression softened considerably.

”I will act according to the plan.”

”Good, remember, a second after I move, you must step forward and kill those three magicians without hesitation or waste words, just take them down, and then, with Yoshino, be on the lookout for anything unusual, just in case. Whatever I ask you to do, just go ahead and do it, understand?”

”Okay.”

At this moment, the roaring of the Magic Power Furnace grew louder, and Fang Zheng could feel an incomparable, massive magic power condensing into shape, approaching the critical point. The three magicians also seemed to sense this and showed expressions of excitement and joy, watching everything that was happening.

Then, the leading magician raised both hands.

”Now!”

Just as that magician opened his mouth, intending to chant the final Elf Spell Formula, Fang Zheng suddenly leaped out from the shadows. Raising his right hand, the pitch-black Greatsword appeared instantly in Fang Zheng’s hand, slicing through the land with a howling gale and piercing the center of the Magic Power Furnace that was incessantly roaring and flashing with power!
