Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 812: Chapter 527: Power of the Great Crystal (2)

It’s hard to appease Mawile with just words; you need to add a sweet treat, and it has to be the sweeter, the better.

A Poffin was gobbled up.

Mawile finally stopped being angry, and Baimu patted Blissey’s round head, ensuring its attention was fully on the simulation after watching TV together.

At this moment.

The dancer, along with Quaxwell and Oricorio, arrived at the junction of South District Three and East District One—

Artazon Town.

[You’ve arrived at Artazon Town, where the ever-present flowers and sculptures remind you of what was introduced in the student manual – a town of flowers and art.]

She mainly came here to challenge the Gym and collect information about the Celestial Star Team.

The narration indicated that the dancer had been wandering around for days but couldn’t find a trace of the Celestial Star Team. Asking the locals, her old schoolmates, yielded no answers as they remained tight-lipped.

This really worried her.

[You think the Gym Leader might know something, so you quickly head to the Artazon Gym]

Artazon Gym.

From the outside, it looks like a very formal office building.

Once inside, the interior is quite similar to the Gym arenas in the Galar Region; you need to register at the front desk to participate in the Gym challenge.

Not only that, she also had to pass a small test.

”Playing a game?”

Baimu watched with great interest as the dancer and her two ”dance partners” ran around the town, catching Sunflora, feeling a bit of novelty.

In the animations, they always went directly to battle the Gym Leader, never with such a program.

Speaking of which, wouldn’t this be something only in the games?

Very likely!

In almost every generation, before battling the Gym Leader, you’d have to do some small gimmicks, which later turned into various mini-games.

Most aren’t particularly interesting, just a bit of seasoning.

And in the process of chasing Sunflora, they would inevitably resist, forcing the dancer to ask Quaxwell and Oricorio for help.

At this moment.

An unexpected scene left Baimu amazed.

Quaxwell and Oricorio seemed to integrate dance into their combat rhythm, not just using dance moves, but genuinely incorporating it into their movement and other techniques.

When they first set out, there wasn’t any sign of this...

He thought of someone—

Tieryu.

That chubby guy in XY who liked Sarina; he was very good at dancing and successfully incorporated dance into battle tactics.

But his dance revolved around Ghost Step Dance, quite hip-hop in style, often spinning like a top while doing handstands.

The dancer, however, didn’t have a fixed dance style, be it traditional or modern.

She and Quaxwell performed ballet, samba, and navy dance, while with Oricorio, she did flamenco and Latin cha-cha. The narration also mentioned that she collected nectar to transform Oricorio’s form to dance more diversely.

”Integrating dance into the Tao...”

Baimu rubbed his chin. Compared to those in previous simulations, the dancer’s professional skills seemed most effective for Pokémon battles.

Very soon.

Her first Gym Battle began.

[You met Artazon Gym Leader Kousha, a man with a gaunt, pale face, holding a thorny whip that made you feel he’s quite intimidating]

Kousha’s pixelated character looked rather fierce.

Upon searching for information through Porygon II, Baimu found that the real person seemed quite intense too, though he appeared to be an artist who also espoused natural art.

Such a peculiar individual.

Different from Gym battles in other regions, Artazon Gym had set the battle ground in the city center, allowing students and townsfolk to watch.

The dancer appeared to have some mild social anxiety, unused to being watched by so many people, keeping her head down, avoiding eye contact.

[You felt the multitude of gazes and unconsciously became pressured]

[Quack!]

A sudden clap of thunder.

In a critical moment, Quaxwell cried out, its bubble large enough to take up half the screen. With its signature navy dance starting stance, the dancer looked up and immediately calmed.

[You felt Quaxwell’s encouragement, no longer nervous, and assumed a similar stance]

Brother Ya to the rescue.

Baimu clicked his tongue, thinking the choice of this starter Pokémon was perfect, like an older brother offering constant care to the dancer.

Unexpectedly.

Though Kousha specialized in Grass Attribute Pokémon, in front of Quaxwell, he couldn’t gain much advantage, mainly because he couldn’t touch the latter.

Quaxwell danced so agilely that Kousha’s Petilil and Mimikyu couldn’t catch it and ended up being taken out by its wing attacks.

The Gym Battle went so smoothly that the dancer found it hard to believe, expecting it to be a bit more challenging.

At this point.

Kousha sent out his third Pokémon—Sudowoodo.

The dancer and Baimu were both taken aback.

A Grass Attribute Gym using a Rock Attribute Pokémon? Even if Sudowoodo looks like a tree, it’s not of Grass Attribute!

”Wait—”

Baimu suddenly thought of something.

But before he could speak, Kousha revealed the answer.

He pulled out a radiant sphere from somewhere and threw it fiercely at Sudowoodo.

All at once.

Sudowoodo shone like a crystal, with crystal-clear sunflowers and bouquets of red flowers adorning its head, looking so dazzling it seemed like the sky had darkened.

Baimu: ”Great Crystal Transformation!”

[You saw Great Crystal Transformation for the first time, watching Sudowoodo in awe. Kousha told you that this Sudowoodo had now become Grass Attribute]

The Great Crystal Transformation, the new Scarlet & Violet system, allows a Pokémon to gain an additional attribute, with resistance calculated based on the new attribute, excluding the original from damage calculation.

This conclusion Baimu reached combining online research with memories from numerous trailers from a prior life.

Admittedly, this thing is likely very powerful, but it’s probably a system only usable in the Padia Region, just like Gigantification.

The Z-Move was also originally Alola-exclusive until it somehow got used in Kanto, making it accessible worldwide.

On the screen.

Both the dancer and Quaxwell saw this for the first time, pausing in surprise, almost leading to the latter being struck by some jump attack from Sudowoodo.

[After considering, you withdrew Quaxwell and replaced it with Oricorio]

Ah, this.

A Fire and Flying Attribute Oricorio; Baimu felt it might get blown away by Sudowoodo’s Rock Techniques.

But surprisingly, this didn’t happen.

Oricorio’s dance steps were equally mesmerizing, capable of deflecting the rock throws from Sudowoodo. It was even more adept with Flying Attribute moves, continuously lowering Sudowoodo’s attack with Feather Dance.

Eventually.

Oricorio defeated the Grass-attribute Sudowoodo with an Air Blade.

[You’ve defeated Artazon Gym Leader Kousha and received the Artazon Badge]

Holding the badge Kousha handed over, the dancer stood still for a long time, her heart moved by the hard-won victory, as she had always been immersed in the world of dance.

[You looked at the badge, recalling your encounter with Oricorio, and gained a new understanding about the treasure hunt]

Outside of the Gym challenge.

The dancer did not forget to ask Kousha about the Celestial Star Team, though his knowledge was limited, only knowing that they often caused trouble in Mesagoza.

However, Kousha provided her with a clue—

The foothills west of Artazon Town have seen quite a few strange people recently. The League had asked him to check it out, but he found nothing after several rounds.

[You’ve gained a lead on the Celestial Star Team, immediately setting off in that direction]

The dancer plunged into the forest west of Artazon Town and did encounter some strange individuals.

Most of them rode a Pokémon named Cyclizar, wearing white motorcycle helmets and star-shaped sunglasses, striking imaginary pentacle gestures.

Of course.

Their school uniforms identified them as members of Orange Academy.

[Your path is blocked by strange people who claim that beyond here is the base of Wang Liang’s Fourth Squad of the Celestial Star Team, and no unauthorized individuals are allowed near]

Seeing this scene, the dancer quickly explained her purpose for being there.

And upon hearing she was one of the leading figures in the recent campus incident and wanting to thank those who helped discipline the two bad students, the Celestial Star Team’s subordinates immediately cleared the way.
