Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Kong Mengjie looked at her sister, who seemed to have grown up overnight, not knowing what to say.

She really couldn’t take long-term leave, and besides, her little girl was only a few months old, so she truly couldn’t get away.

”Okay, I’ll stay with you tonight, but I really have to go to work tomorrow.”

Kong Mengjie fetched some water for her to freshen up.

Early the next morning, before Kong Mengjie left, Kong Zhongyou and his wife, along with Kong Dehong, came over.

”Mom, Dad, you’re here?”

The couple didn’t say anything, just stared at the little girl lying on the bed.

”Sis, you go to work. There’s no problem here.”

Kong Mengjie glanced at her sister, ”Mom, Dad, I’m going to work. Dehong, come with me to buy some food.”

When Kong Dehong returned, he found his mother crying and his father sitting by the side.

”Mom, Dad, have some food first.”

Kong Zhongyou stood up, ”Dehong, you eat first, and later have your second brother and that man come over.”

”I understand. Please, Mom, Dad, you eat as well.”

Tian Shulan came over with porridge and sat by the little girl’s bedside.

”Mom, I can manage myself. It’s just that my face looks terrifying; actually, everything else is fine.”

”Okay, then eat by yourself.”

”Mom, Dad, you have your meal too.”

After eating, Kong Dehong rode his bike to work. At the office, he found Kong Demin, ”Second brother, Mom and Dad are at the hospital. They want you to bring Cheng Changsheng to the hospital.”

”Okay, I got it. You go to work.”

An hour later, the two arrived at the hospital. Today, Cheng Changsheng’s attitude was much better, but Kong Demin had already made up his mind that this man should not be promoted, otherwise, Meng Lin definitely wouldn’t have a good life in the future.

He is absolutely cut from the same cloth as me; such a person should just work dutifully.

After arriving at the hospital, Kong Zhongyou took the two of them out.

They went to a secluded corner of the hospital, where Kong Zhongyou punched Cheng Changsheng in the face, followed by punch after punch, without stopping.

Cheng Changsheng was also getting angry from being hit, but he didn’t dare to fight back.

”What good does it do hitting me? It was Kong Menglin who seduced me. When she was with me, it wasn’t her first time anyway, and I never promised her anything at the time.

Now I’ve put up with it, what more do you want?”

Kong Zhongyou stopped, panting, and stood to the side glaring viciously at Cheng Changsheng.

”That’s just your side of the story; you can say whatever you like.”

”I, Cheng Changsheng, swear to God, if I say a single false word, may lightning strike me dead.”

These words were serious, and the Kong family father and son believed him. But given the current situation, even if they knew, they had no choice but to continue down the same path.

”Let me tell you, if you don’t treat my daughter well in the future, I will make you pay an unimaginable price.”

Cheng Changsheng didn’t respond and left abruptly.

Only the father and son were left. ”Demin, is this how you look after your sister?”

Kong Demin felt really wronged, but he didn’t explain, waiting for the old man to vent his anger first.

Kong Zhongyou knew he was taking out his anger elsewhere, but there was really no other way. The incident had already happened. The little girl was lying so miserably in the hospital bed, and she would never have her own child in her lifetime. It was too heartbreaking to blame her any further.

”What are you planning to do about this man?”

”Dad, he’s not a good person, but Meng Lin insists on marrying him, then let her marry. In a few days, I’ll be promoted to a top position. The first thing I’ll do is demote him, just let him be ordinary. Otherwise, he will definitely abandon Meng Lin in the future.”

”Okay, do it like that, don’t give him a chance to rise.”

The father and son shared the same mindset, both intending to suppress Cheng Changsheng.

”Alright, you go to work. Be mindful of your reputation; you should also be getting married.”

”Dad, I know what I’m doing. I’m leaving now. Would you and Mom like to stay at my house?”

”No, I’ll be heading back shortly. Let your mom stay and take care of Meng Lin for a while.”

They are all our children, how can we not care for them?

None of them are trouble-free, so as soon as I go back, I’ll find a wife for Dehong and hurry and get him settled.

In other people’s eyes, I’m the one most envied, but who knows my own worries?

Kong Demin left for work. During lunchtime, he asked Wang Dajiang to come over to buy food for them. If it was just Mom there, he wouldn’t be at ease.

Kong Zhongyou returned to the ward, ”I’m heading back. You stay,” and with that, he turned and left.

Now, only the mother and daughter were left in the hospital. Tian Shulan gave Kong Menglin a hard smack on the arm, ”Now do you understand? What are you going to do in the future? Other people’s children are already grown; you can never truly rely on them, you fool.”

”Mom, let’s just leave it at that. It’s already like this. We’ll see what happens step by step in the future.

Mom, I’m thinking of being discharged. Actually, I can handle things now.”

”Why the rush to leave the hospital? Just stay here quietly.”

”Mom, I’m just thinking for my own family. Let them watch me like this every day, let them see I’ve generously let go of their mom.”

”You, well, you’re technically in confinement, so you can’t get in contact with water.”

”Mom, I’m already like this; what confinement is there?” Kong Menglin smiled bitterly.

”I’ll go to your house to take care of you.” Tian Shulan had made up her mind. For her daughter, what does it matter if she’s uncomfortable?

Kong Menglin shook her head, ”Mom, no need. I just want him to know that for their sake, I’ve lost everything.”

Tian Shulan burst into tears again after hearing this, calling her daughter foolish.

At half past ten, Wang Dajiang arrived. ”Auntie, I’ll go buy some food.”

”Who is he?”

”He’s my second brother’s subordinate.”

Wang Dajiang came back with the food, ”Wang Dajiang. Tell Cheng Changsheng to come pick me up tonight. I’m going to be discharged.”

”Alright, I got it. Menglin, take care of yourself. The rest isn’t urgent.”

”I understand. Just let him know.”

He really doesn’t dare not to come.

Wang Dajiang went back to the office and first found Kong Demin to report on Kong Menglin’s situation.

”Alright, just go along with her wishes, go ahead. Dajiang, thank you. I won’t forget your kindness.”

”Director Kong, it’s my duty.”

He found Cheng Changsheng, ”Captain Cheng, Kong Menglin asked me to pass a message to you. She said she wants to be discharged tonight and wants you to pick her up.”

Cheng Changsheng frowned, very displeased in his heart, wondering why she had to be so capricious. Who could look after her like this?

”I understand, thank you, Dajiang. How is Kong Menglin today?”

”She looked a bit better. I was only there to deliver food, didn’t stay long, and honestly don’t know much.”

”Dajiang, do you think it’s because I couldn’t hold myself back that I ended up like this? Does this mean I have no hope left in life?”
