Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Song Qingqing’s eyes lit up, and she ate one mouthful after another.

Until she finished a bowl, she didn’t feel uncomfortable and even felt she couldn’t get full.

Song’s mother watched her daughter like this, and her eyes turned red with distress.

As long as her daughter could eat, it was good. This way, she could produce milk to feed the child.

In the evening, her milk started to come in; after much effort, the baby finally got the first taste of it.

Dinner was brought by Mrs. Zhou. She liked this daughter-in-law: gentle, beautiful, with a good job, but she herself had lived an ordinary life all her life, of course, wouldn’t make an exception.

This made Song’s mother dissatisfied, but considering her manners, she didn’t make a fuss.

”In-law, really, thank you for your efforts.”

”It’s nothing. There’s no hard work about taking care of my daughter. It’s my duty.

In-law, let’s do it this way. I’ll go home and prepare meals for Qingqing every day. This child needs nourishment; she can’t be lacking at this time. Don’t worry, I mean no harm, I just want to make soup for the child to drink, so she can have enough milk, and our granddaughter can eat well and grow strong.”

”Fine, I can come over at noon, but afternoon is not possible; there are many people at home.”

”Please try to overcome the difficulties, in-law. Qingqing will only stay in the hospital for a week; things will be better when she gets home. I can make soup and take care of the child then.”

Mrs. Zhou was particularly dissatisfied, but the request wasn’t excessive, and it was said with a smile, so refusing would seem unreasonable.

”Fine. I’ll come over at three in the afternoon.”

After Mrs. Zhou left, Song’s mother curled her lips, ”Even without work, she keeps such a precise schedule?”

”Mom, let it be for now. I can manage in the afternoon myself. There’s no need to make yourself unhappy; as you said, it’s only for a few days.”

”You, this meek temper, makes you unable to stand up for yourself and lets people take advantage.” Song’s mother also felt helpless about her daughter.

This week wasn’t particularly happy for Song Qingqing; her mother and mother-in-law just couldn’t get along, and she felt uncomfortable.

In the evening, when it was just the young couple, Zhou Zhaodong comforted his wife, ”Qingqing, don’t take it to heart; you need to keep a good mood, or our daughter will become a sour face.”

Song Qingqing rolled her eyes at Zhou Zhaodong, ”What nonsense, I’d rather be discharged soon, these two elders really are troublesome.”

”Don’t worry, I can understand your mother, she’s worried about you, blame me.

Qingqing, don’t overthink, we’ll spend our lives together.”

”Hmm.”

Finally, it was time to be discharged. Song Qingqing was wrapped up tight, riding a bike home.

Song’s mother is a clean person, so the house was tidied up exceptionally well; this made Song Qingqing feel much better.

During this month, Song’s mother changed up the dishes she made for her daughter.

Song Qingqing visibly gained weight. Because the relationship between the two elders wasn’t good, so Mrs. Zhou only came over every afternoon to check in, but she didn’t skip any visits.

Zhou Zhaodong was gentle and attentive to his wife during this month and went all out pleasing his mother-in-law.

Kong Mengjie completed her postpartum confinement earlier, sent her son to kindergarten, and went back and forth five to six times a day to feed the child, and still left the child in the room alone.

In September, Jiang Xinyu also started school. To be honest, this is the fourth year; students cherished this opportunity, and they started exchanging contact information now.

”Xinyu, once we part, who knows when we’ll meet again.”

”Yes, I’m too far away, but you have my address, you can write to me.”

”It would take about a month for the letters, right?”

”Yes, there’s phone too, if anything changes, we can inform each other. If any of you have the chance to come there, make sure to contact me, I’ll treat you to a meal.”

”Definitely.”

”Sister Baozhen, your husband is from the enamel factory?”

”Yes, why? Do you want enamelware?”

”Yes, I don’t know what to give friends when I return, enamelware is good, although we have it there too, but here has its own style.”

”What do you want? How much?”

”Could you prepare thirty sets for me? Each set includes four tea mugs, one teapot, four tea trays, and four enamel basins.”

”Wow, you’re asking for quite a bit!”

”Can you ask your brother-in-law if it’s possible? I plan to send them back in advance. I’m bringing two kids, not planning to carry much.”

”Alright, I’ll ask when I go back on Saturday. I feel it’s not feasible to get so many at once, but it can be accumulated gradually.”

”As long as there is some, it’s fine.”

Jiang Xinyu indeed thought a lot and didn’t know what to bring back for friends.

”Xinyu, you bought your house, right?” Zhang Shuping asked.

”Yes, I bought it when I came here, after all, it’s been four years, I don’t want to keep moving.”

”What about the house after you leave?”

”Just leave it as is; maybe someday I’ll come back.”

”You really have financial strength; that’s a few hundred for the house.”

”It’s not about having money, just feels like the development here will be great, keeping it as an investment.”

Both looked at her in surprise, it’s the first time hearing such an opinion.

”Xinyu, leaving your house like that makes it easy to degrade.”

”I have a cleanliness obsession, my family doesn’t like others living there, just keep it as is, and hire someone to renovate later.”

Jiang Xinyu had already considered this issue; in the future, although it won’t be as precious as gold, the price will definitely be very high, so just leave it be.

Neither spoke, thinking it wasn’t a trivial matter and Jiang Xinyu’s statement seemed a bit far-fetched.

On Jiang Feifei’s birthday, Jiang Xinyu specially made a cake; although it didn’t have cream, she sneaked in some butter, making the taste particularly fragrant.

The two kids loved eating it. ”Mom, will I also have a cake on my birthday?”

”Of course, you’ll have one too. From now on, I’ll try to prepare one for your birthdays.”

Shi Jing was satisfied, and in the afternoon, Niang San also specially called Wei Kaiyun.

Wei Kaiyun seemed absent-minded all day, waiting in the office for his wife and kids’ call. Lunch was brought by Lu Weiqi.

”Dad!”

”Sweetheart, happy birthday.”

”Thank you, Dad.”

Jiang Xinyu and Shi Jing listened to the father and son chatting away, and Shi Jing also followed talking a lot with Dad.

Jiang Xinyu took over the phone, and Wei Kaiyun finally heard his wife’s voice, ”Xinyu, how have you been?”

”Okay, and you?”

”I just miss Niang San.”

Jiang Xinyu wasn’t comfortable saying such things in public phones, so after a few words, she hung up.

In the evening, Bai Hongying made longevity noodles for the family; everyone ate with satisfaction because they couldn’t break the noodles, so the way the two kids ate the noodles was really funny. Jiang Xinyu felt very content, having them both was her blessing.
