Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Wang Dajiang carefully climbed onto the bed, holding the motionless Kong Menglin, feeling deeply afraid now.

Initially driven by alcohol, there was no way out once he sobered up.

”Menglin, Menglin, I’m a bastard, I’m useless.”

”Get out quickly.”

”Menglin, I’m worried about you, don’t be like this.”

At this moment, Kong Menglin’s mind was a mess as she recalled the events of the day.

Regardless, the matter has already happened.

Actually, she knew how valuable chastity is, but because of Kong Mengjie’s situation, she felt it wasn’t that important after all. If a man truly loves you, happiness is the same.

She thought, Kong Mengjie could lose her chastity before marriage, she’s no worse than her.

”Menglin, don’t be upset.”

Kong Menglin was interrupted by Wang Dajiang, feeling contempt towards him. She used to think he was quite good, but after experiencing four men, she felt Wang Dajiang was really no good.

”Get out quickly before I change my mind, I know this was rape.”

Wang Dajiang helplessly left. Kong Menglin lay there until Sunday afternoon. She had considered reporting them, but that would truly tarnish her reputation.

She absolutely couldn’t do it. She felt under her pillow for the forty dollars left by the four of them.

On Sunday night, Kong Dehong returned home. He was helpless with this sister. Although they were twins, he truly couldn’t manage her.

On Monday, Kong Menglin went to work as if nothing was wrong, with Wang Dajiang carefully attending to her, and she didn’t refuse.

Wang Dajiang dared not suggest anything now, observing Kong Menglin closely and finding her increasingly licentious, always flirting with male colleagues.

He decided that was fine, not wanting to be entangled with her. He truly looked down on such a person.

Time flew by, and it was already the end of November, the weather had grown cold. Everyone’s days passed routinely.

Wei Kaiyun looked at the thick report in his hands, glaring after reading it, couldn’t believe the Kong Family had such talented people, truly formidable.

He instructed them to keep monitoring; that side’s situation must be under control.

By December, he received a call from Old Yang, ”Xiao Wei, there might be trouble, they might not be able to hold onto it from above.”

”What’s the situation?”

”I’m heading back now; I’ll find you once I’m there.”

”Alright.”

The struggle was truly intense now. When there’s trouble above, it won’t be peaceful here either.

The family housing was completed, just waiting for interior decoration.

The textile factory workers were incredibly enthusiastic about their work.

Everyone finally had some hope, finally had homes. The design of these homes was particularly reasonable, with collective heating. By December, homes could be delivered.

The first batch included ten buildings, comprising a hundred and twenty households. These were allocated based on payment order. Wei Kaiyun even held a meeting to explain that next year, there would be forty buildings, and the year after, it would be fully completed.

Everyone, though not completely satisfied, understood that hesitation placed them behind. There was no arguing about that. Despite Director Wei being at the front, he withdrew, waiting for the last batch.

The textile factory truly succeeded in their experiment, prompting other factories to follow suit.

The city even held a special meeting to have Wei Kaiyun share their experience.

The Management Bureau affirmed Wei Kaiyun’s work, and he was recognized as an advanced worker.

Wei Kaiyun felt more assured. Normally, given his temperament, he wouldn’t claim this credit, but with issues above, he needed to find a solution.

Before, he might not have cared, but now, with a wife and children, he had to think of them.

By the end of December, Old Yang arrived, and the two returned home directly. They didn’t emerge until a day and a night later.

Old Yang left, and Wei Kaiyun began packing everything, preparing.

Old Yang also returned to prepare, hoping their efforts weren’t in vain.

New Year’s Day of 1966, Wei Kaiyun approved a month’s extra wages for each worker, making them more satisfied than any benefits, raising Director Wei’s stature in the workers’ eyes.

Jiang Xinyu was also organizing things, having gathered the thirty sets of enamelware she needed, called Song Qingqing to have Wang Ailing answer the phone.

”Sis, I’m sending some items back; help pick them up and deliver them home.”

”Alright, Xinyu, you’ll be returning in half a year, won’t you?”

”Yes, I’ll take the train back in late July. I should be home by late August.”

”Okay, we’re waiting for you. Two days ago, I went to the supply and marketing cooperative, Secretary She mentioned you.”

”They must be missing me, I can return home this year.”

After hanging up, she proceeded with mailing, spending a hundred and twenty just on postage.

Feeling more assured now, she decided to leave the remaining cotton clothes and quilts for Bai Hongying; they weren’t worth the postage.

She dialed Wei Kaiyun’s number.

”Xinyu, I’ll send someone to pick you up.”

”No need, I sent everything back through the post office. The four of us aren’t bringing much.”

”Could you stay in the Provincial City for a few days? I’ve missed you three, I’ll take leave and accompany you back.”

”Alright. I’ll call you when it’s time.”

Shi Jing was already three years old, old enough for kindergarten. After attending one day, he refused to go back. He wanted to learn at home with Monk Master.

Jiang Xinyu had no objections; as long as the child was willing, it was fine. Besides, Master Shang was truly skilled, more than capable of teaching children.

The two children studied together for nearly three months, and Jiang Xinyu was delighted at their progress.

So she shared the children’s situation with Wei Kaiyun.

”Alright, as long as they are willing, it’s fine, can Feifei learn like Shi Jing?”

”Yes, Feifei learns faster than Shi Jing.”

Wei Kaiyun felt proud; that was his daughter.

The two chatted a bit more before Jiang Xinyu left.

Upon returning home, she saw the two children listening intently to Master Shang’s lesson, and quietly slipped back to her room.

At the New Year’s party, Kong Demin was completely captivated by a newly arrived clerk, listening to her heavenly singing, he thought he had to find a way to get her.

Kong Menglin also went on stage to sing a song, wearing makeup, looking seductive as male colleagues below applauded warmly.

During this past month or so, she got involved with the captain of the enforcement team, Cheng Changsheng, and before the party, they held a commendation meeting. Kong Menglin was among those commended, and had successfully transitioned into a regular employee after half a year at work.

Kong Demin asked about it, and Cheng Changsheng flatteringly mentioned it was for Director Kong’s sake; she was his sister, so he helped where he could.
