Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

In the evening, after Yu Jing fell asleep, Kong Demin went to Meng Xiu Fen’s room.

”How is it?”

”Still okay, she’s capable, let’s keep her.”

”Alright, is this child Wang Dajiang’s wife?”

Kong Demin paused, then shook his head, ”I’m not sure, but Wang Dajiang brought her over.”

”You sleep, there’s no need for you at night, just leave the diapers for Xiao Chun to wash tomorrow.”

”Okay, I didn’t nap this afternoon, feeling a bit tired. By the way, I’ll take Xiao Chun to send Yu Jing tomorrow, and thereafter let her handle the pick-up and drop-off.”

”Okay, just give her clear instructions.”

And so, Meng Xiu Fen spent a comfortable postpartum month.

She found herself increasingly satisfied with Xiao Chun, even giving her two sets of clothes.

Over the month, Xiao Chun changed too. Because she was not mistreated, eating the same food, she didn’t have to work in the fields, became fairer, and even gained some weight.

Her relationship with Yu Jing was especially good, the little girl insisted on sleeping with her.

This made Meng Xiu Fen even more willing, as it meant Demin could sleep in the same room with her.

Finally, the postpartum month ended, and the two couldn’t contain their excitement at night.

”Demin, now I’m scared of getting pregnant. It would be hard to explain in the future.”

”No problem.” Of course, Kong Demin didn’t want to bring this up at that moment.

They lived like normal couples; Meng Xiu Fen went back to work, leaving Zheng Xiuchun to care for the child. After all, she couldn’t breastfeed; the child was on formula.

Wei Kaiyun looked at the report in his hand, finding Kong Demin to be a competent person as well.

His wife was due for leave in a month, and he had been too busy lately, unable to make time to visit her.

He was reluctant to let the three of them take the bus alone, but he missed her dearly. Every night, whenever he dreamed, it was of her.

It was truly agonizing, unbearable. He called the Capital again, sent his wife ten bags of milk powder, not wanting them to miss out. Calls were inconvenient, so he could only write letters, always filling five to six pieces of paper.

Filled with longing, all of it was love for them.

Jiang Xinyu’s replies were the same, as if there was an endless amount to say. She even sent over handprints of the children. On a piece of white paper, there was handprint from all three of them, specially leaving a blank space for him.

Wei Kaiyun indulged in childishness once, coated his hand with ink, and imprinted his palm on it too.

As he looked at this piece of paper, he couldn’t help but smile. He decided to put it in an album and preserve it well.

Lu Weiqi came in to see Director Wei with a silly grin, clearly having received a letter from Director Jiang, it was hard to watch.

”What’s up?”

”Someone in the workshop got injured.”

”Hmm, leave it to Ding Mingqiang, let him handle it.”

”Yes.”

Right now, he didn’t want to be too tired, there were people below him, he preferred to take it a bit easier.

Ding Mingqiang also got the news, Secretary Lv also came by once, he personally went to the infirmary to visit the injured worker.

He noticed that Wei Kaiyun was barely handling things now, leaving it all to him, what did this mean? Ding Mingqiang couldn’t figure it out either.

They belonged to two different camps, but without personal vendettas, he still had a good impression of Wei Kaiyun.

Well, since above wants him to stay put, so be it.

Wei Kaiyun wanted to go to T City for a bit, to tidy up at home, but he simply couldn’t take the time off, although it shouldn’t be an issue, since Wang Ailing had the keys, but she was about to give birth soon. His wife couldn’t go back, and him going seemed too abrupt.

Wang Ailing indeed gave birth at home today. This little guy was quite naughty, causing trouble for three hours and still not coming out, putting Wang Ailing through the wringer.

Wang Jianqiang and Sun Ermei, a couple, were present too; they were delivering potatoes and grains to their daughter, just in time for the birth.

After another hour, the three men outside finally heard the loud cries of the baby.

Sun Ermei came out holding the baby. ”Guo Liang, it’s a big, chubby boy, seven pounds and eight ounces, no wonder Ailing took so long.”

Chen Guoliang’s smile reached the back of his head. He now had a son too.

The child was handed to his father, and Sun Ermei immediately went inside; her daughter hadn’t expelled the placenta yet.

Entering, she saw her in-law wiping her daughter’s sweat, feeling quite pleased. A mother-in-law being good to her daughter was a sight she was happy to see. Her mother-in-law back then was very tough; her daughter was lucky.

This fortune was thanks to Xinyu, the little girl, for if she hadn’t found this job for Ailing, she wouldn’t have met such a good husband or had such good in-laws.

So, even if she kept supporting her daughter, she was willing.

The three men outside cuddled the baby boy, who slept sweetly with closed eyes.

Beside them, Chen Xiangting tugged on her father’s pants, ”Dad, I want to see my brother, I want to see my brother.”

”Alright, big sister wants to see her little brother.” Chen Guoliang crouched down while holding his son.

”Dad, why is brother so ugly?”

”Haha, he’ll look better when he grows up, really, your brother isn’t ugly.”

The little girl didn’t believe what her dad said, instead staring at her grandfather.

”Your dad is right, he’ll be good-looking when he grows up.”

Her grandpa nodded in agreement, but the little girl remained startled, staring at her brother in disbelief.

Inside, Wang Ailing was so tired, she didn’t even want to open her eyes, but having given birth to a son, she felt satisfied, as if having a son changed everything.

Seeing her mother come in, she cracked a smile.

Next to her, the midwife helped clean up. ”Alright, Guo Liang’s wife is really something, expelled the placenta quite quickly, and the bleeding stopped as well. You can go and bury it yourselves.”

”Oh, Aunt Wang, thank you so much. Here, don’t mind it.”

Chen’s mother took out two yuan and stuffed it into the midwife’s hand.

”Haha, it’s what I should do. I won’t stand on ceremony then.”

This was truly a joyous occasion for the Wang family, the people close to Wang Ailing at the textile factory, they all found out about this, and many came to see the child, mainly to offer gifts for the birth, by giving money.

Chen Guoliang’s colleagues also came over. They were notified that the baby’s one-month celebration was on July 2nd for a feast.

Chen Guoliang planned to celebrate in a big way.

Qian Jun and Yao Shimin came together, each giving five yuan, since they were close to Jiang Xinyu and were willing to give more because of that relationship.

Song Qingqing and Pan Xiulan also came, each giving two yuan.

”Qingqing, when are you and Zhou Zhaodong getting married?” Wang Ailing asked with a smile.

”My parents are coming in July to meet and discuss.”

”And what about you, Xiulan?”

”My parents are coming this month. We’re probably setting it for October 1st.”

”Good day. Won’t both of you set it for October 1st?”

The two laughed, indeed considering that.
