Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

The afternoon meeting lasted for an hour, just to issue orders.

The workers now have a particularly high level of consciousness, and when they heard about this task, they were all very proactive.

Wei Kaiyun clearly assigned tasks, ”I will be responsible for quality control in the future, and the quality control team will report directly to me during this task period.

I require that the finished products must be of Grade A quality. If there are any issues, I will directly hold each workshop director accountable.”

After the meeting ended, everyone went to the cafeteria to eat together, the cafeteria was already prepared. Everyone was discussing while eating.

The next day, textile factories in several other cities received calls from the Management Bureau.

They were angry but didn’t dare to speak out, the orders were clear, either take on the tasks for the military department or share the tasks of the Provincial Capital’s textile factory.

No one was a fool, and nobody wanted to take on the tasks from above, so they all held meetings for their subordinates.

Qian Jun and Yao Shimin were in the office. ”Getting assigned these tasks shouldn’t be a problem for us, right?”

Yao Shimin nodded, ”No problem, we have stock in our warehouse and can produce normally.”

”Alright, it’s up to you then.”

Both of them understood that this was the best; not doing the tasks from above meant less responsibility.

Although there was no reward, the Management Bureau knew about it, so they weren’t afraid of working for nothing.

By December, Wei Kaiyun had already dispatched two truckloads of finished products, all of Grade A quality, and the Management Bureau commended his work.

Every day was so busy that his feet barely touched the ground. He received a letter from his wife and laughed happily at her bragging words.

He wondered if his wife would call him with their daughter this month. He missed his daughter so much, hearing her sweet voice warmed his heart.

Jiang Xinyu’s family of three was now wearing cotton-padded clothes. Watching her daughter waddle like a little penguin brought Jiang Xinyu immense joy.

The two-year-old Shi Jing had started practicing horse stance exercises every day, and seeing how hard he worked, Jiang Xinyu felt a bit worried.

”Master Shang, do you think practicing horse stance like this, with Shi Jing’s bones still so tender, could make him bow-legged?”

Shang Zhenkun laughed, ”No, don’t worry, I’m keeping an eye on it.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded, feeling reassured. Her son’s schedule was even more packed than her own; he had no childhood, only learning.

But as a mother, she couldn’t stop him, so she was conflicted.

She spent Saturday taking the two kids to the post office.

When Wei Kaiyun answered the call, he was very happy, feeling all his fatigue vanish.

Listening to the little girl chat fluently with him, he sincerely marveled at how fast time flies. In another year and a half, Jiang Xinyu’s family of three could return.

Jiang Xinyu talked about recent events and her concerns about Shi Jing.

”Xinyu, it’s okay, Master Shang can handle it well.”

”I just feel the kid has no childhood, which is quite tough.”

Wei Kaiyun laughed, what is childhood? How many kids now have what his wife describes? Poor kids have to help at home, and those with better conditions have a chance at education, but it’s not for play.

”Wife, you’re overthinking it. Shi Jing isn’t opposed, is he?”

”Yeah, he’s pretty happy. I get what you mean.

By the way, how are you doing now?”

”Not bad, took on a big task, and now all workshops are working overtime for production.”

Jiang Xinyu reacted immediately, thinking this was probably the task from above, right?

Jiang Xinyu was very concerned, knowing in his past life problems with a high-level task’s quality led to his trouble later. ”Make sure to take quality issues seriously and oversee them yourself.”

Wei Kaiyun laughed, holding the phone, ”Don’t worry, I’m in charge of this now, I’ve been keeping an eye on it.”

After hanging up, the family of three went to the supply and marketing cooperative and bought apples and condiments, then went to the bookstore and bought more than twenty picture books for the two kids.

They returned fully loaded, and at home, the two kids eagerly got on the kang, asking Bai Hongying to set up the kang table so they could sit and read.

Jiang Xinyu was very pleased to nurture such a habit in her kids. As long as they loved reading, it was fine.

The class was preparing for the New Year’s party, and everyone contributed a dollar to collectively buy snacks. Jiang Xinyu found it quite amusing, they’re not little kids after all. But as a group activity, she had no objections.

”Xinyu, how about taking the kids to my place for a few days during New Year?”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head with a smile, ”No, Sister Baozhen, it’s too cold, and I’m afraid the kids might get sick.”

”You complain about the heat in summer and the cold in winter.”

”Yeah, too delicate, it’s not as cold here as back in my hometown during winter.”

”You still can’t take the kids back this year?”

”Exactly, all the time would be wasted on the train.”

”What about the kids’ father?”

”He probably won’t come either, doesn’t have that long of a vacation.”

”Then you’ll have to wait until graduation to go back?”

Jiang Xinyu nodded with a smile, ”Yes, only after graduating. It’s soon, just over a year to go, it will pass quickly.”

Jiang Xinyu really thought so. This bit of time goes by quickly. Just two more winter breaks and a summer break, and they could go home.

Zhang Shuping smiled while listening on the side. Since the two had fallen out, this was their mode of interaction.

But she didn’t regret it. She now had over seven hundred yuan saved. Even if she didn’t get much in a future family split, she’d have money to live on.

”Xinyu, aren’t you preparing any programs for the party?”

”I’ll sing a Russian ballad.”

Zhang Baozhen gave a thumbs-up, ”Impressive, do you have any accompaniment?”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head with a smile, ”No, I can’t play any instruments, just going to sing a cappella. What about you and Sister Baozhen, any programs?”

”I don’t,” Zhang Shuping shook her head.

”Me neither, I can’t carry a tune. It’d scare everyone if I did.”

After school, Jiang Xinyu picked up two letters from the gatekeeper, one from Song Qingqing and one from Wang Ailing.

Back home, dinner was already prepared. Today’s meal was Shi Jing’s favorite lamb paomo. The little guy had a special fondness for meat; the little girl was easygoing and ate anything.

”Aunt Bai, when you go buy meat tomorrow, if you see pork ribs, buy some. I want to make braised ribs.”

”Sure, I’ll go early tomorrow. Anything else you want?”

”If there are pork offals, buy more, especially intestines, we can make sausages ourselves.”

”Got it, that’s easy to buy. But meat coupons are running low.”

The whole family, except Shang Zhenkun, didn’t have coupon supplies, which should be quite relaxing, but they couldn’t stop eating meat every day.

”No problem, Aunt Bai, you handle buying the offals. Leave the ribs and meat to me, I’ll find a way.”
