Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Meng Xiu Fen heard some gossip, but she wasn’t sure, and didn’t dare to speak carelessly.

Now all of Kong Demin’s thoughts are on the new office employee, neglecting the family a lot.

He also neglected Zheng Xiuxiang, ”Aunt Meng, is Second Brother Kong disgusted with me?”

”Xiao Xiang, why can’t you give birth to a child?”

”I don’t know either, didn’t the doctor say there’s nothing wrong with me? I don’t know why I’m never pregnant.” She’s also anxious and worried.

Meng Xiu Fen already knows Kong Demin has taken a liking to the new arrival at the Revolutionary Committee, Chen Xiaohong.

She’s also very anxious; if Kong Demin truly finds a capable woman, he definitely won’t tolerate her and her child. Then what will happen to her son and herself in the future? That’s absolutely unacceptable.

Although Changjun can now run and jump, and can speak, he definitely reacts slower than other children—it’s a problem with his brain. Kong Demin now doesn’t even want to see him.

”Xiao Xiang, do you think it’s Demin’s problem?”

”How could it be? Didn’t he have Yu Jing and Changjun?”

”Xiao Xiang, if you don’t want to be abandoned, you have to quickly think of a solution.”

”What solution? I’m anxious because I can’t get pregnant.”

”Xiao Xiang, Demin and Dehong are full brothers, why not try sleeping with Dehong? Just follow the doctor’s advice during the risk period?”

”Aunt Meng?”

”It’s up to you to decide, I’m just feeling sorry for you. If you really can’t get pregnant and have a child, Demin will certainly not marry you in the future.”

”Aunt Meng, will this really work?”

”Xiao Xiang, I treat you like a daughter. You’ve been with Demin for two years now. If he really doesn’t want you, what will you do in the future? When you have a child, he’ll behave.”

”But that wouldn’t be fair to Second Brother Kong.”

”They’re full brothers, as long as neither of us says anything, who would know? Do you think Kong Dehong would say anything?

The child would also be part of the Kong Family.”

”Aunt Meng, what should I do? I don’t know.” Zheng Xiuxiang was completely at a loss, but she knew without a child, Kong Demin wouldn’t marry her.

”Count the days, which day is it?”

”Aunt Meng, it’s this week.”

”Alright, got it, we’ll ask when we get back, if not, next month, the time is too tight.”

The family sat together for dinner, Kong Demin looked at Changjun eating messily, feeling disgusted.

”Demin, will you be home Friday and Saturday?”

”What’s up? I have to work Friday.”

”I was thinking of inviting Dehong and Meng Lin over for dinner.”

”I’m going to the city Saturday. I’ll be back Sunday night.”

”What are you going for?” Meng Xiu Fen couldn’t help but ask. He would be away for two days and a night.

”Learning. I’ll tell you at night.” He actually wanted to use connections to climb higher, after a long time finally getting in touch with leaders in the city, he wanted to give gifts upward, but he couldn’t say exactly how long it would take. He planned to have dinner with leaders Saturday night.

At night, lying on the kang, Kong Demin shared his thoughts, ”I called the leader yesterday, arranged dinner for Saturday night, he agreed. So I thought of going early. By the way, how much money do we have?”

”Three thousand left, but we haven’t saved much these past two years, expenses are high.”

”Give me two thousand, this money goes directly to the leader.”

Meng Xiu Fen didn’t want to agree, but she knew if she didn’t give money this time, it would be troublesome.

”I’ll go withdraw it for you tomorrow. Then Saturday I’ll invite the brothers for dinner?”

”Alright, mention Meng Lin. What’s with her outfit?”

”Okay, I know.” She would definitely say, after all, she had to let Kong Menglin leave, right?

The next day, Kong Demin found his brother, ”Tell Meng Lin to come to dinner Saturday.”

”Alright, they don’t need me at home now anyway.”

At night, Kong Dehong told Kong Menglin to go for dinner, ”Third Brother, you should go, I have something Saturday.”

”Why do you always have plans? What are you doing these days? I’ve heard a lot of bad things about you.”

”That’s jealousy because I got regularized, I’m grown up, I know what I’m doing.”

The siblings parted on bad terms. Kong Dehong decided to go home next week and have the parents come over.

Saturday morning, Kong Demin took a bus to the city, the two women at home were making dumplings to entertain the siblings. Meng Xiu Fen specially bought five pounds of loose white liquor, she had to make Dehong drink a lot, otherwise it would be troublesome if the young man didn’t agree.

At eleven o’clock, Kong Dehong arrived by himself. ”Auntie, Meng Lin is busy, didn’t come. Where’s Second Brother?”

”Your Second Brother went to the city for something, no problem, sit down. The dumplings will be cooked soon.”

Kong Dehong shyly smiled, he was only nineteen after all.

The dishes were fried eggs, peanuts, and cabbage hearts.

”Dehong, have some wine.”

”Auntie, I can’t drink.”

”How can a man not drink? Learn today, you’ll have many opportunities to drink outside.”

Zheng Xiuxiang stood up and poured wine for Kong Dehong, making the young man very embarrassed.

”Drink, Auntie’s getting old, can’t accompany you, let Xiao Xiang drink with you.”

Zheng Xiuxiang raised her glass, ”Try it, this wine is pretty good.”

Kong Dehong lifted his glass and took a sip, didn’t find it tasty, but also not unpleasant.

Dumplings with wine, it’s a delicacy that’s well regarded.

The young man ate heartily and vigorously. The two children finished eating and were playing on the side, while Meng Xiu Fen and the others accompanied Kong Dehong.

After the meal, Kong Dehong’s face was completely red, his eyes drowsy, though he had only drunk one bowl of wine.

”Dehong, have some more?”

”Auntie, I really can’t drink, I see double.”””

”Alright, then rest here for a while, when you’re sober you can go.”

”Auntie, no need, I’m not far, I’ll go home.” As he spoke, he stood up but couldn’t stand, swaying nearly falling.

Zheng Xiuxiang immediately supported him.

”Look at you, why go back now? Xiao Xiang, help Dehong to the room to rest.”

Zheng Xiuxiang’s face was pale, but she couldn’t regret it at this point.

She helped Kong Dehong, this young man hadn’t been so close to a woman before, instantly turning redder.

Meng Xiu Fen didn’t tidy up the house, took the two kids out, and locked the main door directly.

Zheng Xiuxiang helped Kong Dehong into the room, ”Lie down, I’ll get you some water.”

This was instructed by Meng Xiu Fen, she had to make Kong Dehong drink more.

She went to the main room, filled half a bowl with wine, and brought it straight in, handing it to Kong Dehong.

He was truly drunk, lifted it and drank it all. Afterward, the bowl fell on the kang, he sat there grinning foolishly at Zheng Xiuxiang.

”Let me help you lie down. Sleep it off and you’ll feel better.”
