Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 548: Chapter 548 Let Me Guess

During Ailena’s term in governance, the ”Elf Feather” incident occurred.

Elves were chosen by the goddess as the legends described, and grew pure white wings. They then flew to the blue skies with other winged beings from the goddess’ favored clan, their destination unknown, but surely they remained by the goddess’s side.

When he read this, a figure suddenly appeared in Yang Yu’s mind—Mixed Angel, Amon Lucifer Gabriel.

Yang Yu immediately had a bold speculation.

The Elf Queen once said that the blessing the goddess gave them was not complete. If it were, would the entire race of elves evolve into angels?

After all, in most games, the goddess’ favored clan were angels.

When Yang Yu was planning the Racial Essence, in order to dominate the skies, he had considered finding the Racial Essence of angels or Hapi to gain aerial combat abilities.

However, Hapi, the birdmen, sacrificed their arms for the ability to fly; should he absorb the Racial Essence of Hapi and wish for the power of flight, there’s a high chance he would sacrifice his own arms and thus significantly lower his combat abilities.

If he could obtain the Racial Essence of the Angel Clan, it might be possible to gain a pair of wings for free.

The problem is that most records about angels are quite vague, noting only that they are mythical beings who serve the goddess, and they live in the Heavenly Realm, seldom descending to the Mortal World.

Amon lived in the same era as the Hero, and was probably still a young man when he met the Hero. If Amon really is a descendant of angels...

As if suddenly realizing something, Yang Yu hurriedly looked up the latest entry in the ”Elf Chronicles.”

Assuming the era prefix of this record is not far from now, and then pushing forward by the dates, till the end of the Lox Era, and then another ten or twenty years...

The time when angels appeared in Luoyu City closely matched the year Amon Lucifer Gabriel was born.

Could it be that an angel fell in love with a mortal during a descent, and Amon Lucifer Gabriel, the mixed angel, was born?

Emmmmmm...

It feels like the previous generation of heroes and their buddies received a somewhat melodramatic script.

No, it should be called the King’s Path...

So far, it appears that angels are most likely evolved from elves who received the complete blessing of the goddess.

Thinking of this, Yang Yu excitedly opened the task ”Elf and Goddess.”

The task is to elucidate the relationship between elves and the goddess, but how to do it specifically?

Whether the conclusion he deduced could complete the task, or if it must be stated by a specific character to achieve task completion, Yang Yu didn’t know, but he could try.

Yang Yu decided to first speak his answer to the panel and then have Lotcar repeat it to see the panel’s reaction before deciding.

”Elves are a race blessed by the goddess. As long as they are recognized by the goddess, they can evolve into the Angel Clan.”

Suddenly, the task ”Elf and Goddess” underwent a change, and a progress bar appeared in the center of the task, showing 20% with ”correctness” written above the progress bar.

Could it work like this?

With this thought, Yang Yu couldn’t help but become excited again. Indeed, the degree of freedom in this game was beyond imagination.

Tasks like this, involving information gathering, would normally require running errands and finding specific NPCs to complete in many other games, which leads to the frustration of knowing the answer mid-way, yet still having to systematically complete errands to verify it.

Yang Yu vividly remembered playing a detective game where he deduced the culprit early on and obtained decisive evidence, but he still had to dutifully collect evidence through errands, which ultimately led to the death of a girl close to the protagonist.

At that time, Yang Yu really wanted to throw his controller, send razor blades to the game’s developers, and he wished he could install a function for early deduction to bring the perpetrator to justice sooner.

Now that he had discovered this mechanic, in case he ever lost clues for a few tasks later on, he could still use the vast amount of intelligence to deduce and find the truth.

A 20% accuracy rate was far from enough to complete this task, but it was ultimately a good start.

Yang Yu, satisfied, flipped back to the Chapter on Angel Descent and continued reading. During Ming Tu Sai Qiute’s reign, the Elf Clan had seen the birth of two Heroes from different eras.

This included the famous Lox. It was clearly recorded in the chronicles of the Elf Clan that they had yet again aided a Hero, and the Elf Queen had personally joined the war against the Demon King, entrusting the government to the Queen Candidate, Selena.

Hmm...

Hmm?

Yang Yu had a strong hunch that in the Underground Maze built by the previous generation’s Hero, he might meet the previous generation’s Elf Queen.

The team of the previous generation’s Hero really did gather all the big shots.

Looking at his team setup, Yang Yu’s forehead broke out in sweat. His team, aside from He Meng, the Royal Slime, included three civilians and one who had renounced his Clan Leader status to become a civilian.

Compared to the team of the previous generation’s Hero, it was embarrassingly inferior.

He needed to find one or two more civilians with potential...

A team born from the grassroots, if it could overthrow the Demon King, would indeed be exciting.

The corners of his mouth unintentionally revealed a smile as Yang Yu continued browsing through the ”Elf Chronicles.” But the next moment, his smile abruptly stopped.

The chronicles had a detailed account of how Hero Lox had destroyed the ancient Demon King City, causing the Black Continent to sink into the sea forever, never to resurface.

Damn it, the previous generation’s Hero had actually blown up the Demon Clan’s foothold—how could he expect their army to land?

Excluding the Demons who could fly or swim, what about the rest? Wouldn’t they all drown in the sea?

Shivering with indignation—didn’t non-swimmers have rights too!

Despite his complaints, Yang Yu could understand why the Hero had done so; he too wanted to prevent the Demon King from descending into the Mortal World again.

It was more responsible than those Heroes who would defeat the Demon King and then just shake off their hands and enjoy life.

However, contrary to his desires, Hero Lox’s actions could not prevent the next Demon King from descending into this world.

That he left behind so many Underground Mazes, and made sure they were built before the Demon King’s Descent, maybe it was to give the people of this world more strength to fight the next Demon King.

Perhaps, it wasn’t entirely...

Who knows?

The rewards for the ”Ancient Brave Lox” Hidden Task were too generous, so much so that they were somewhat abnormal, and the real purpose of those few keys was still unclear.

Continuing to read, Yang Yu saw the end of the war, followed by the return of the previous Elf Queen to Luoyu City.

For many years things remained quiet, as if the events in the outside world had nothing to do with the Elf Clan whatsoever.

It was at this moment that a new item caught Yang Yu’s eye.

Elf History 9432, May 12th: Elf Queen Ming Tu Sai Qiute was seriously injured while fighting off a Demon attack.

Elf History 9498, March 22nd: Elf Queen Ming Tu Sai Qiute passed away from her injuries. Queen Candidate Ailena fell into despair for failing to save her predecessor Ming Tu Sai Qiute, and an interim Elf Council was formed.
