Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 525: Chapter 525: Facing Death with Equanimity

Under the bright moon, dark clouds gathered, a furious aura continuously filled the air, and several bolts of lightning darted back and forth among the clouds.

Not far away, the Silver Teeth Tribe, celebrating the Full Moon Festival, also noticed the terrifying energy coming from afar and looked towards Bai Jin and the others.

After handing Dream Moon over to his confidants to prepare for the execution, Kai Bu walked out of his office and also noticed the explosive energy from afar.

”It’s finally starting.”

Kai Bu’s face was expressionless as he walked toward the ritual platform, and some nervous tribespeople ran up to him,

”Acting patriarch, we feel a terrifying energy, probably not far outside our barrier. To avoid getting involved, should we send someone to check?”

”No need, perhaps, it’s just someone having a normal duel in the forest. As long as they don’t break into our barrier, just leave it be.

Hurry and prepare for the ritual battle.”

Saying this, Kai Bu glanced towards the giant fur ball pushed out of the chief’s office—the old clan chief’s vitality was gradually weakening, likely unable to last through the night.

Or rather, it was a miracle he has lasted this long.

If it were not for his firm belief in passing the title of patriarch to Lotcar, he probably would have died already.

But this was good, Kai Bu wanted to show this old clan chief how foolish his initial choices were.

....

Without any warning, thick black lightning plunged down from above the clouds, exploding in the forest, releasing boundless and unrestrained energy, instantly turning the trees to charred remains.

Yang Yu stood in front of Bai Jin and Iyas, deploying the Illusion Shield to avoid the aftershocks of the black lightning. He Meng also extended his body, using the recently learned ”Iron Wall” for Defense, collaborating with Yang Yu to protect the outputs.

Several Living Dead Priests were struck by the black lightning, instantly turning into charred remains, falling motionless to the ground.

All the living priests gathered around Bishop Tu Jing, following him as he moved forward.

Another black lightning bolt struck down, directly above Bishop Tu Jing’s head. The bishop’s body suddenly enlarged slightly, a black glow rising from him forming a solid protective shield.

The black lightning struck the protective shield, which cracked in several places, and the black electric currents snaked through the gaps in the protective shield on Bishop Tu Jing’s head, splitting into countless small bolts.

Bathed in the black lightning, Bishop Tu Jing moved step by step closer to Yang Yu and his group, swinging his emaciated palm down toward Yang Yu.

Yang Yu instantly deactivated ”Interception” and switched to ”Shield Counter,” red spurs quickly covering his shield, blocking Bishop Tu Jing’s attack, and the counterattack’s red light directly targeted Bishop Tu Jing’s heart.

”Iyas, you once told me you had halfway completed your ’Intermediate Healing.’ Give me a little demonstration, and the subject is the Bishop in front of me.”

Between light and darkness often lies a reciprocal restraining relationship, light can dispel darkness, and darkness can thoroughly engulf light, hence Iyas felt fear when facing powerful darkness.

In many games, the Holy Light Healing Skill is like good poison milk for the Demon Race and Undead Race.

Iyas’s healing skills were not yet fully formed, and they came with excruciating pain that made life unbearable, a poor match for the Living Dead Priests who hardly felt anything.

After all, a Living Dead Priest not burned to a crisp would relentlessly get back up and launch any attack within his power even if his arm was severed, as long as there was a sliver of blood left in his health bar, showing impressive dedication.

Such enemies didn’t care about pain; it was enough to simply defeat them again.

If action was to be taken, it should be against their leader.

Although Bishop Tu Jing had transformed into a demon form, he should still possess human pain receptors. The pain from receiving the baptism of Holy Light and the additional pain from the healing was enough to make him lose the will to live.

Iyas hesitated. She did not know what kind of chemical reaction the Holy Light Healing Skill would have when encountering a Demon. What if her skill didn’t inflict damage but instead healed the wounds on Bishop Tu Jing? Despite her hesitations, Iyas extended her hand, choosing to trust Yang Yu, and gathered a burst of Holy Light in her palm.

Even though Yang Yu used ”Climbing,” his feet were firmly glued to the ground, but the strength of Bishop Tu Jing in his demon form was too great; Yang Yu felt the ground beneath his feet begin to give way, as if about to be uprooted.

Iyas raised her hand, and intense Holy Light emanated from her palm, channeling into the bishop and the arm connected to Yang Yu’s shield.

The fierce Holy Light climbed up Bishop Tu Jing’s slender yet powerful arm, engulfing his entire body. Heart-wrenching pain radiated from all directions of Tu Jing’s body.

The agony from the baptism of Holy Light and the pain from Iyas’s imperfect skill compounded, striking deep into Bishop Tu Jing’s soul.

Bishop Tu Jing arched his body, emitting bursts of blue smoke, his expression dazed as if, in that moment, he had once again seen the Demon Lord he admired.

”Bai Jin, don’t hold back! Use another one, kill him in one blow.”

Despite being out of breath, Bai Jin, hearing Yang Yu’s command, took out a Fairy’s Magic Stone and released magic again. A huge Ice Spear formed in front of her, stabbing directly at Bishop Tu Jing’s chest from close range.

At that moment, numerous black spiritual bodies suddenly converged in front of Bishop Tu Jing, including a huge black tiger spirit. Together, they formed an immensely tenacious shield in front of the bishop.

The giant Ice Spear collided fiercely with the shield, and the shattered spiritual bodies fell like snowflakes, disappearing.

The sharp spearhead pierced through the shield made of spiritual bodies but ultimately stopped just in front of Bishop Tu Jing.

Bai Jin’s attack ultimately failed to touch Bishop Tu Jing’s body, missing the chance to deliver the final blow.

The priests standing beside Bishop Tu Jing were stunned.

They all thought Bishop Tu Jing would let out his eerie laugh as usual and say, ”This pain will also become precious food for the demons,” before nonchalantly using the power from the Demon Lord to turn danger into safety.

This time, however, it was a real eye-opener. Without the help of Priest Kenro, Bishop Tu Jing would probably have died here today.

The priests’ view of Yang Yu and his team changed; anyone able to use such magic was definitely not a small fry.

Today, they must ensure that this group of people all die here to guarantee that the path they firmly believe in continues unimpeded.

The living priests readjusted their mentality and attacked Yang Yu and his team again. The violent magic from Bai Jin had not left any shadows in their hearts; instead, they all embraced death.
