Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 536: Chapter 536: Do a Hairdo

After a feint attack from the east striking the west, Yang Yu had dozens of soldiers stationed around the outskirts of Elf Forest kneeling and singing their defeat.

Having finished the fight and gained the Experience Value, Yang Yu immediately clarified that although he was a Human, he was definitely not a Slave Hunter; he only wanted to return the elves by his side to their village.

The Beastman soldiers sprawled on the ground had a moment where they didn’t know whether to curse or not, ”Couldn’t you have made that clear from the start? Why did you have to beat us all down before talking?”

”If I had told you, how would I have gotten your Experience Value?” Yang Yu replied with a smile, casually excusing himself with, ”After crossing the desert, some enforce the law through fishing, afraid that someone would repeat old tricks, so I had to strike first,” and confidently led his team into the Elf Forest.

Watching Yang Yu walk away, the Beastman soldiers wanted to say something but thought better of it. After all, they were unable to defeat Yang Yu and his team, so why bother asking for more trouble?

Besides, he really did bring back two elves, so perhaps he meant what he had said.

The soldiers dusted themselves off, regrouped at the check point, and immediately strengthened their communication with nearby troops.

Yang Yu and his group did not know exactly where the Elf City, Luoyu, was located; they just kept heading towards the center of the Elf Forest.

As they walked, Yang Yu suddenly spoke up,

”Bai Jin, hand me the Race Disguise Necklace.”

After removing the necklace from her neck, Bai Jin handed it to Yang Yu.

The Race Disguise Necklace was still set to Bear Species Beastman, which had minimal effect for the keen-sensed Beastmen.

But for elves, the necklace could still be effective.

Yang Yu fiddled with the settings and changed the Race Disguise Necklace to Elf, then gave it back to Bai Jin to wear.

In front of everyone’s eyes, Bai Jin’s human ears suddenly sharpened, much like Iyas and Hake.

However, Bai Jin’s hair remained dark purple, and did not turn blonde.

Iyas looked worried, ”This appearance... it’s like that of a fallen elf...”

Just as Yang Yu was about to ask Iyas what the problem was, Hake explained on behalf of his sister,

”Our Elf Clan usually has blonde hair and blue eyes, and rarely do we see other hair colors. Miss Bai Jin’s hair color...

Although it looks normal from a human perspective, this color has historically been seen as a symbol of corruption among elves.

The appearance of a non-blonde elf generally indicates that the elf has been abandoned by the goddess.

Such individuals are quickly expelled from the Elf Forest.

Even though Miss Bai Jin looks like an elf, this hair color may lead to her quick expulsion...”

Is there such a setting?

Yang Yu crossed his arms, recalling that this setup seemed quite common in his memory.

In many fantasy works, along with some clandestine novels and films, there was the concept of dark elves.

Dark elves were often depicted as special entities formed after the fall of regular elves. Of course, in some works, dark elves and regular elves are portrayed as mortal enemies with no inherent relation.

Yang Yu flipped through the Race Disguise Necklace but could not find an option for dark elves.

Bai Jin, wearing the necklace set to Elf but appearing similar to a dark elf, suggested that a black-haired Elf was still considered an elf, not a completely new race.

This is going to be problematic.

The Elf Clan only obeys commands from their Queen and rarely contacts the outside world, and the consequences of this isolation are apparent.

Recalling the various encounters with Iyas and combining the current intelligence, it’s likely that the Elf Clan is extremely xenophobic, secluding themselves and centering their world solely around their kind.

Yang Yu seemed to have come across a similar storyline somewhere.

Just a year ago, a tragedy occurred when humans infiltrated the Elf Forest and enslaved elves. However, the Elf Queen did not actively seek protection, presumably preferring to solve the problem internally.

The Beastmen took the initiative to send troops to protect the Elf Forest, probably hoping to gain the Elves’ favor in return.

If the prior intelligence is correct, the vast majority of elves should possess the Holy Light.

With a population exceeding one hundred and thirty thousand, if even half of these elves learned to wield the Holy Light, it could form a formidable force that significantly reduces casualty rates and might even turn the tide of battle in one fell swoop.

Unfortunately, judging from the recruitment poster, the Elf Clan still has not agreed to participate in the war between the two nations.

Wansheng Country has selflessly labored for a full year, yet the Elf Clan responds with such indifference. It’s unclear if Wansheng Country will resort to more forceful measures in the coming days to make the elves submit.

If the Elf Queen’s stance is so strong that even Wansheng Country feels compelled to use force, as a human, Yang Yu would likely be kicked out by the Queen’s Personal Guard.

It is urgent for Iyas to learn the ways of the Holy Light, and Yang Yu does not know if there are large cathedrals in Wansheng Country like there are in human areas.

The All Things Library has scarce information about Wansheng Country, and most of what Yang Yu could find are merely the general territories each race occupies. To know every detail about each city is like talking in one’s sleep.

Thus, Yang Yu does not know if there are cathedrals of the Goddess Sect in Wansheng Country, let alone find a suitable one to teach Iyas skills.

Having missed the chance to let Iyas learn the Holy Light within her clan and unable to find a cathedral of the Goddess Sect, it’s uncertain when Iyas, the Priest, can be properly trained.

Perhaps enticing another elf to become a priest is a good alternative.

The problem is, Yang Yu has little interaction with other elves, making it difficult to find one with talents like Iyas who also vows not to betray him.

If this opportunity is missed, there won’t be another shop like this.

Therefore, no matter what, Yang Yu wants Iyas to complete her apprenticeship in Luoyu City where the Queen resides.

Yang Yu does not desire Iyas to become an exceptionally great priest, but at least she should be more reliable than now.

But, leaving Iyas alone in Luoyu, Yang Yu feared she might not be able to find him later.

At this moment, Bai Jin, the magician, could come into play as she could contact Yang Yu through the Crystal Ball at any time to locate him.

Therefore, Yang Yu intended for Bai Jin to accompany Iyas and spend some time in Luoyu together.

Unfortunately for Bai Jin, who used a Race Disguise Necklace, compared to Yang Yu, she was more likely to be kicked out by the elves.

This was Elf Clan territory, and without knowing the Elf Clan’s power, you can forget making them yield as easily as that small group of soldiers did.

Stealth seemed to be the only option.

”Is there something that can change hair color...”

There actually was, as Yang Yu searched through the System, finding a complete set of hair dye, gel, and a voluminous catalog of hairstyles.
