Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 529: Chapter 529: Do you think this is fair?

Gazing at the imposing middle-aged man across from him, Kai Bu’s gaze intensified, and his hands trembled slightly, as if he could hear his own heart pounding fiercely in his ears.

It was fear, but also excitement.

Originally, Kai Bu had thought that when he saw Lotcar again, the only emotions he would have were either hatred or displeasure.

But when Kai Bu actually witnessed Lotcar’s return, he realized the complexity within his heart.

Kai Bu feared Lotcar, not just because he was afraid that Lotcar would take the position of Clan Leader from him, but also because, for a very long time, Lotcar had always been one step ahead of him.

To truly stand on his own, he had to completely defeat Lotcar here. fr eewe(b)nove.l.co\m

Whether spiritually or physically, he had to crush him utterly.

Only by thoroughly crushing Lotcar could he be assured of a bright path ahead, one he had never seen before. Thus, Kai Bu was also excited and even felt fortunate that Lotcar had returned.

”It’s been a long time, Cousin Lotcar,” Kai Bu smiled. ”Who would have thought, after doing such a thing, you would still have the nerve to come back and participate in the ritual combat?”

”Kai Bu...” Lotcar lifted his head, his sharp gaze piercing straight into the depths of Kai Bu’s heart, ”If you have something to say, say it with combat. Just like before.”

Kai Bu’s smile gradually became twisted and distorted, and despite his best efforts to stop it, he could not help but reveal such an expression.

”You really have the nerve to say that. Like before? Can it still be like before?

This is the ritual combat for the succession of the next Clan Leader.

The Old Clan Chief had already passed away before your return; it’s such a pity that you didn’t get to see his final moments.

The Old Clan Chief, until his death, had still hoped you would become the Clan Leader of the Silver Teeth Clan.

Even though you left the village for a whole seven years, even though you committed the act of harming your beloved, even though after your return, you ignored your daughter and completely tarnished your reputation...

Yet, he still chose you as the successor for Clan Leader.

Do you think that’s fair?”

Faced with Kai Bu’s interrogation, Lotcar simply countered with a question of his own,

”Do you think it’s fair?”

Lotcar’s words struck Kai Bu’s heart like an arrow through the chest.

If he hadn’t cursed the wine Lotcar drank, Lotcar wouldn’t have been banished from home, wouldn’t have hurt his clansmen, and wouldn’t have become the nightmare of many in his clan.

Lotcar was questioning whether Kai Bu’s despicable means of driving him away were fair.

”Kai Bu, you did well!”

Lotcar raised his voice, a hint of anger igniting in his eyes,

”You did very well, but...

You’ve chosen the wrong path.

I can no longer contain the fury in my heart... So let’s battle!

Fight like a man, casting everything else aside, and fight!

If you truly have the qualifications to be the Clan Leader, then right here, right now, defeat me!”

A fierce gaze shot his way, and the fear in Kai Bu’s heart vanished in an instant.

Kai Bu could no longer describe his feelings; only one thought remained in his heart.

——To utterly defeat Lotcar!

”I wouldn’t want it any other way! In these seven years, I have not stopped progressing!”

Moonlight enveloped Kai Bu’s body, and his eyes flashed a crimson light as his body rapidly expanded, transforming into a beautifully formed giant Silver Wolf.

Lotcar simply stepped to the right, his whole body covered in a silvery-white sheen, like a veil of mist. From within that mist, a imposing Silver Wolf burst forth, its blue eyes reflecting the full moon, calm yet resolute.

Qiu Sun Silver Teeth didn’t find the right moment to announce the start of the battle, but everyone present knew the battle had begun, and no one could stop them.

Kai Bu was the first to initiate the attack. He opened his gaping maw, and a silver-white light converged within, forming into a Sharp spike that shot toward Lotcar.

Lotcar rose up on his hind legs, crossing his arms in front, and with a sweeping motion, a silver, X-shaped Claw Attack tore through the spike.

Without a moment’s breath, Kai Bu charged at Lotcar.

Lotcar exercised his four limbs, bursting forth with unbelievable Strength, and also launched a surprise attack at Kai Bu.

In an instant, the two powerful giant wolves collided fiercely, lifting a forceful wind that caused the fire on the stands to flicker as if it might extinguish at any time, the moonlight remaining unmoved.

This was the most primitive, also the simplest form of attack: plain and without any flair, a pure contest of strength.

Lotcar’s cheek pressed tightly against Kai Bu’s, gazing at the handsome Silver Wolf, memories of the past couldn’t help but surface in Lotcar’s eyes.

Kai Bu and Lotcar had once been inseparable friends.

They spent countless joyful times together growing up, sharing many moments of happiness.

In the beginning, Lotcar didn’t believe it was Kai Bu who had cursed him; there must have been some mistake.

But seven years ago, standing on the ruined village, Lotcar saw with his own eyes the pleased yet conflicted look and the faintly furrowed brow on Kai Bu’s smiling face.

Kai Bu had never shown such a smile before.

It was in that moment that Lotcar became certain Kai Bu was the one who had betrayed him.

”Why betray me? How could you have become like this, Kai Bu!”

Lotcar let out a growl, and Kai Bu, just as defiant, also let out a growl,

”Lotcar, you were the first to betray me. If not for you, none of this would have happened...”

Kai Bu stepped back, circling to Lotcar’s side aiming for Lotcar’s neck, while Lotcar also took advantage of the motion to lunge forward, biting toward Kai Bu’s neck.

Unexpectedly, the two massive Silver Wolves swapped positions in the fight, Kai Bu biting onto Lotcar’s shoulder, while Lotcar likewise bit into Kai Bu’s shoulder.

Sharp fangs pierced through fur, and crimson blood instantly stained both the silver-white fur of Lotcar and Kai Bu.

It was a savage and brutal fight, the way of the Silver Teeth Clan when transformed into giant wolves.

As if by unspoken agreement, both giant Silver Wolves released their grip and retreated from each other, then, ignoring their wounds, charged again, lunging toward one another.

The giant wolves rose up, this time unveiling their Sharp claws, striking at each other as silver hair mingled with splashes of blood flew through the air.

Howls echoed beneath the full moon, reaching far into the distance.

Yet neither side showed any signs of weakness.

Just like their ancestors of old, the two massive Silver Wolves wrestled on the square platform, only the victor deserving the right to survive.
