Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 508: Chapter 508: This Generation of Young People Is No Good

Shihui Cactus’s creation of the Cactus also required a large amount of stamina; his exhaustion far exceeded the audience’s imagination, and his body unknowingly showed symptoms of mild fatigue, as the hand wielding the Cactus Bat gradually became powerless.

Others didn’t know, but Yang Yu could see it clearly on his panel; the decisive moment was finally about to arrive.

Shihui Cactus slightly closed his weary eyes, resting for a few seconds. Any further delay would leave him with no chance of victory.

The thought of a quick battle filled Shihui Cactus’s mind.

With a forceful swing, Shihui Cactus’s Attack missed once more. He simply tossed away the Cactus Bat and grew a spiked ball in his hand.

Seeing this, Yang Yu pulled back his half-slung Sword and carefully retreated a few steps.

But this was exactly Shihui Cactus’s trap. As Yang Yu retreated, Shihui Cactus also retreated, moving a bit closer to the lush Jiucai field; then, half-kneeling, he slapped the cactus ball firmly into the ground.

The cactus ball, as if summoned, spread its roots underground at an incredible speed, and soon, several giant humanoid cactuses, each like a 2.5-meter-tall strongman, blocked Yang Yu’s path. The cactuses were further surrounded by cactus balls, their spurs coiled and ready to strike.

This maneuver was originally meant to be used against Zuixiang. Pu Tao, but now he had to reveal it.

The spiked ball spun again, and Yang Yu, unruffled, saw a flash of blood in his gaze as he activated ”Sudden Killing Intent,” then using ”Climbing” he stepped onto the tall cactus, climbed to its top, and leaped.

Yang Yu kicked off his spike-covered shoes, baring his feet, and navigated around the ground spurs. Before the cactus ball spurs could launch, he charged at Shihui Cactus with the speed of lightning.

Throwing away his Sword, a shadow appeared behind Yang Yu and then sank into his entire arm, dyeing his arm pitch black.

Shihui Cactus cut off his control over the cactus, hoping to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to regrow a cactus club and strike at Yang Yu.

But in the end, he wasn’t quick enough.

Yang Yu swung his arm, hurling Shihui Cactus out of the arena, making him land in the lush Jiucai field, lying down obediently.

Pure white clouds passed through the midday sun, and although he lost the match, Shihui Cactus felt a sense of relief.

”Shihui Cactus has fallen out of the arena; the winner is Yang Yu. Please prepare for the next contestants.”

Cuiyu. Jiucai announced the results of the match. Shihui Cactus silently stood up from the Jiucai, put on his tossed hat, bowed to Yang Yu, and then squeezed into the crowd of spectators without a word.

This provoked the dissatisfaction of Zuixiang. Pu Tao, who pushed through the others watching the match, grabbed Shihui Cactus’s collar, and questioned him:

”You, you shouldn’t have lost just like that. Did you throw the match? That last Skill, if you had used it earlier, you could have easily restricted his movements, and then it would have been a piece of cake to beat him, right?”

”A piece of cake?” Shihui Cactus pushed away Zuixiang. Pu Tao’s hand and carefully put on his gloves. ”You make it sound so easy. Why don’t you try fighting him? Then you’ll see.”

Zuixiang. Pu Tao turned to look at Yang Yu, only to find that Yang Yu had picked up his Sword and rapidly exited the dueling area.

He didn’t head into the stands or chat with the companions he had just come with; instead, he found a deserted spot, sat down, and bowed his head, his hands moving as if he were holding something, his fingers kneading the air.

Zuixiang. Pu Tao twisted his mouth, ”Talking about having some extraordinary quality, I see nothing special about him. Although his dodging is commendable, I can do it too, and even better at that.”

To avenge the grudge of a past arrow, I had trained painstakingly for a whole year.

But all of it was disrupted by this foreigner.

Zuixiang.Pu Tao kicked the ground fiercely, stirring up a cloud of dust.

Shihui Cactus shook his head,

”You haven’t changed at all from the past. Being overconfident is arrogance. Let’s just see how the competition goes; don’t make me say it a second time.”

Zuixiang.Pu Tao crossed his arms, feeling somewhat jealous of Yang Yu receiving praise from Shihui Cactus, ”Well, he still has to get through the next round, and his next opponent is not going to be easy.”

Before Zuixiang.Pu Tao had finished speaking, as the judge, Cuiyu announced that the quarterfinals of the competition had officially begun.

The situation in the left half of the brackets became jammed up again as each contestant played their trump cards in order to vie for the semifinal spot; the two matches took a total of half an hour before the victors were determined.

Zuixiang.Pu Tao shook his head in silence.

This generation of youngsters isn’t up to par, not like the champion from last year who was able to completely dominate the others. Unfortunately, because the Racial Essence was stolen, she didn’t use it to enhance herself after winning.

This year, after the competition ends, she will use the Racial Essence.

The competition moved on to the right bracket’s veteran-youth division, where Zuixiang.Pu Tao took the stage with a casual attitude, against a timid young girl from the Fungus Clan.

But Zuixiang.Pu Tao had no intention of showing her mercy; as soon as the match started, he swept her out of the arena with the force of a thunderbolt.

He snorted coldly, looking over at Yang Yu, but noticed that Yang Yu was constantly bowing his head, not even glancing at him once, which inexplicably infuriated Zuixiang.Pu Tao.

Yang Yu was still concentrating on strategizing for the game, earnestly ”getting” every scoring point.

But to onlookers, Yang Yu appeared to be sitting on the ground in a daze, until the referee called his name. Only then did Yang Yu stand up and lower his head as he walked onto the field.

Yang Yu’s next opponent was named Ghost Shadow.Straw, a member of the Plant Clan who looked like a scarecrow. Despite her seemingly foolish appearance, her moves were extremely swift and vicious; if one was not careful, one could get hurt by the weapons concealed within her straw.

Zuixiang.Pu Tao silently lamented Yang Yu’s bad luck; Ghost Shadow.Straw had even survived the past two rounds.

In terms of quick attacks, she had some considerable skill, and what looked like straw on the outside was not her real body. Those meeting her for the first time would never be able to locate where her true body was hidden in the scarecrow.

Cuiyu announced the start of the match, and Yang Yu, with slight regret, drew his Sword and Shield.

Zuixiang.Pu Tao couldn’t help but snort coldly again, realizing the enemy’s strength too late.

Just as Zuixiang.Pu Tao was thinking this, the next moment, a blood-red flash crossed Yang Yu’s eyes. In the blink of an eye, he leaped in front of Ghost Shadow.Straw and swung a sword blade enveloped in a black aura, striking at the scarecrow’s chest.

He then used the spur-covered Shield to defend against Ghost Shadow.Straw’s strike, or rather, his Shield actively collided with Ghost Shadow.Straw’s scythe. Immediately after, the sword in Yang Yu’s hand burst into an orange light again, deciding the outcome with a single stroke.

Yang Yu quickly sheathed his Sword and Shield and resumed his previous bowed-headed appearance as if nothing had happened, and left the arena.

Zuixiang.Pu Tao suddenly had three question marks appear above his head—just like that?
