Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 507: Chapter 507: Didn’t Expect Me to Have Added So Much Endurance, Did You?

The Plant Clan members present couldn’t help but be surprised with their mouths agape. Yang Yu had actually gained the upper hand in just a few exchanges, suppressing Shihui Cactus.

More terrifying was the fact that not even a trace of Silver Teeth Clan’s aura emanated from him.

This meant that the Silver Teeth Clan Racial Essence he had received had not yet come into play; the Yang Yu who fought with Gyroscope Song Bai earlier and the Yang Yu now were fundamentally the same.

Standing by the riverside, using the fragrance of flowers to heal the crowd resting under the midday sun, Lilith. Lily watched the battle between Yang Yu and Shihui Cactus with interest and said to William Pumpkin not far away,

”The human named Yang Yu is surprisingly strong. I wonder if William could defeat him if he entered the field himself.”

William Pumpkin had just been at a stall, helping the elderly grandmother there serve delicious sticky rice dumplings, and had shared the dumplings he got from her with Lilith.

”Judging from his performance just now, he indeed possesses a reflex that far exceeds that of ordinary people.

But to secure a victory, relying solely on nimble responsiveness is far from enough.

Without sufficient attack power, one would only drag the situation into a stalemate, significantly draining stamina, which would be disadvantageous for subsequent competitions.”

”Is that so? When I participated in the festival, it was mostly a breeze for me, so I don’t really understand these things.

It’s a pity I can’t go back to those days now. The ability I awakened to was the Lily, which is not strong in attack power. At the beginning, I thought I would get the rose power like Sister Meiyu. If so, maybe I wouldn’t have to be as lazy as I am now all the time.

But this is quite nice too. If nobody inherited the power of the Lily, our clan would have one less Upper Species.”

Lilith took the dumpling from William’s hand, placed it in her mouth, and savored the sweetness, which she liked very much, ”From my perspective, he’s still quite impressive.”

William passed the sticky rice dumpling through the mouth of the Halloween Pumpkin and into his real mouth, not responding, but his gaze stayed fixed on Yang Yu.

The strength Yang Yu was displaying now was not something the younger him could match. Yang Yu had great potential.

Faced with a formidable opponent, he was not the least bit hurried, handling Shihui Cactus with ease and even actively turning the match into a deadlock with nimble movements, as if this fight was his final showdown.

Sadly, it wasn’t a final match that required his full effort.

It would be a waste if, after a hard-won battle, he fell in the next one.

This era is cruel.

In the past, when everyone could use their Racial Essence, it didn’t matter even if a bit of it was given to outsiders.

But now, there can only be one victor.

Shihui Cactus charged at Yang Yu with his giant cactus club, but Yang Yu blocked Shihui Cactus’s attack with a [Shield Block], then countered with a sword slash at Shihui Cactus.

Shihui Cactus didn’t manage to turn around in time, and Yang Yu’s sword slash tore his clothing. A white glove fell to the ground, which Shihui Cactus hurriedly picked up and tucked into his chest.

”All this time, there’s not a hint of weariness on Yang Yu’s face,” Lilith. Lily covered her mouth and snickered, ”It seems Shihui has shown his weakness earlier than Yang Yu. Shihui knows all too well the consequences of a stalemate, after all, that’s how he lost last time.”

”Indeed he’s a bit flustered; his movements aren’t as composed as at the start. But I think there’s no problem, if Shihui calms down and finds his rhythm again, he can still turn the tide.”

”The question is, can Shihui find his rhythm again?” Lilith smiled and said, ”Take a good look at the smile on Yang Yu’s face, as if he’s already certain of winning.”

That didn’t seem feigned at all.

He appeared to be waiting for this moment, fighting with increasing ease. His expression seemed to say, ”Even if you find your rhythm again, I can still disrupt it.”

I felt that Shihui’s hope for victory was becoming increasingly slim.

I didn’t know who initially suggested dealing with him in this way, but now, it seemed that we could only let him slip away for nothing.

”If he stayed, with just a bit of cultivation, he would surely help us expel many demons.”

William Pumpkin’s face, buried in his pumpkin, didn’t show much disturbance,

”This was proposed jointly by Hans and me, and the rest of you accepted it readily.

He will always be a bird outside the cage; we can confine him temporarily, but not forever.

If he truly proves his strength, we won’t stop him; if not, he’ll just have to work for us here for a while.

During that time, we’ll treat him just like a regular companion.”

”You say that, but at the time of the proposal, you were aiming for his failure. Why did you suddenly bring such a plan to us?”

”It was simply the best solution I could think of. Forcing someone to stay and work in the village is not gentlemanly; he should be allowed some room to struggle.”

With that, William turned his attention back to the match between Yang Yu and Shihui Cactus.

This match had been going on for half an hour without anyone noticing.

During the Plant Clan’s autumn festival selection tournament, it was rare to have a match of this length. The last time was between two giant wood system Plant Clan members who brawled and grew larger for half a day before a winner emerged.

However, this match seemed to be nearing its end.

Cold sweat broke out on Shihui Cactus’s forehead, as calm began to drain from him. He was acutely aware that the man before him was no ordinary foe.

Every time he attacked, that man would dodge with an incredibly agile posture, then immediately launch a counterattack. Although not powerful, these strikes certainly left wounds on him.

If he used a high-power skill for an attack, that man would use the eerie ”Shield Counter” skill for defense, blocking the attack while causing damage. Shihui Cactus had never imagined that humans possessed such a skill.

Back and forth, Shihui Cactus felt as if Yang Yu was scooping out his very essence, not just physically, but spiritually as well.

Despite many attempts, he had not once caused significant damage to Yang Yu, managing only to inflict minor, negligible wounds with his Spur. Shihui Cactus’s confidence was crumbling.

Shihui Cactus had tried breaking off a spur from his hair and placing it in his mouth to perform the ”Spine Defense,” then blowing the needle at a distance Yang Yu could not possibly avoid.

To his dismay, Yang Yu simply tilted his head slightly, causing the blow needle to whiz past, grazing his hair, and in turn, succumbing to Yang Yu’s ”Shadow Deception.”

”The longer the time drags on, the more disadvantageous it becomes, affecting subsequent battles.

And yet he’s using up his stamina without restraint—doesn’t he consider the matches to come? Or does he intend to give it his all, solely to win against me right now?”

A pile of doubts built up in Shihui Cactus’s mind, constructing a high wall, until he saw Yang Yu’s movements remaining effortlessly efficient, realizing suddenly that Yang Yu’s stamina was like a bottomless pit, inexhaustible and without end.
