Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 502: Chapter 502: Cornered Beast Fight

As a rare species born of rare lineage, Gyroscope Song Bai believed his talents were not bad, seeing as his awakened Plant Clan abilities pertained to Song Bai.

The plant members of the giant wood system generally possess immense strength and unparalleled defense.

In ancient wars, as long as they were paired with magicians capable of significantly weakening fire magic, the plant members of the giant wood system could become outstanding frontliners.

Gyroscope Song Bai’s transformation lasted a very long time, seeming full of flaws, yet Yang Yu’s attacks couldn’t shake him.

Unfortunately, the plant members of the giant wood system were extremely clumsy, making them easy targets in one-on-one battles like those of kiting.

As a rare Song Bai dedicated to protecting the village, Gyroscope Song Bai was also aware of the shortcomings of this form, hence he came up with the idea to use tree planting to reduce his opponent’s range of movement.

If someone wanted to use a speed advantage to distance themselves from him, he would spread seeds around to grow trees sufficient to restrict their movement, creating a cage match scenario.

Having participated in many selections before, Gyroscope Song Bai’s moves were well known and adversaries would be somewhat cautious before he made a move.

However, it was Yang Yu’s first time competing in the autumn festival, and he clearly did not know that Gyroscope Song Bai’s apparent aggressive attacks were actually a ploy to plant a large pine forest behind him, allowing Gyroscope Song Bai to gain the upper hand again.

If he could successfully reduce Yang Yu’s range of movement, Gyroscope Song Bai could then slap him out of the arena, forcing him to bite into a Jiucai.

Now, the entire battle strategy was based on the premise that Yang Yu knew nothing about him.

For this reason, Gyroscope Song Bai had prepared before the competition because if Yang Yu were to inquire about his abilities from others, it wouldn’t be as easy to gain the upper hand.

In fact, as the oldest contestant, Gyroscope Song Bai knew from the start that his opponent would be Yang Yu.

The reason he proactively approached to chat was also to prevent Yang Yu from discovering his combat style, ensuring his victory.

Gyroscope Song Bai truly managed to outwardly disdain his enemy while strategically valuing him.

This year, being his last competition, he naturally intended to advance to the next rounds with as little effort as possible.

In Gyroscope Song Bai’s view, Yang Yu had already missed his best opportunity to counter him, and all that remained was to launch him flying.

However, no matter how Gyroscope Song Bai swung his arms, transformed into giant wooden stakes, Yang Yu always managed, with some difficulty, to narrowly dodge his attacks.

Yang Yu’s body was agile, quite like a little squirrel.

”Can’t you get any bigger?” Yang Yu said, dodging another attack with a taunting smile, ”If you were any bigger, I might just get slapped out of the arena in one go.”

”You’re a bit more agile than I thought. See how you like this move, ’Pinecone Bomb’!”

Transformed into a giant tree, Gyroscope Song Bai swung the branches atop his head, and dozens of pinecones fell from the branches, bombarding Yang Yu like a cluster of grenades.

The pinecones exploded in front of Yang Yu, and the countless seed scales that made up the pinecones swept towards him like shrapnel.

”Interception!”

The Illusion Shield reappeared in front of Yang Yu, Yang Yu instantly accelerated his speed, facing the dense seed scales flying towards him, went close-range, used ’Climbing’ to swiftly climb up the massive body of Gyroscope Song Bai, and ran to his back.

Gyroscope Song Bai quickly reached for Yang Yu with his wooden arms, yet found his woody limbs unable to grasp Yang Yu behind him.

Comfortably, Yang Yu crouched down in spots unreachable by Gyroscope Song Bai’s arms, ferociously slicing at Gyroscope Song Bai’s bark with a sword in his hand.

Gyroscope Song Bai felt like there was a beetle licking sap on his back, making it unbearably itchy.

Unable to do anything, Gyroscope Song Bai could only wait until the cooldown for ”Pinecone Bomb” finished before trying to attack Yang Yu with pinecones.

But he was taken aback by the devilish laughter of Yang Yu near his ear.

”Hehehe, I wonder what would happen if I carved some words into this tree; whether they’d appear on your original body once you revert.”

Gyroscope Song Bai shuddered all over. In his giant wood form, any mark left on him would reflect on his original body.

Although they would eventually heal, because of the competition rules, he was not allowed to use Potions or other means to restore stamina or heal wounds during the competition.

If Yang Yu left something on his body, he’d have to carry that disgraceful scar until the end of the match.

Gyroscope Song Bai immediately panicked. ”You’re being way too damn despicable.”

”Despicable? That would be you. Your ’Pinecone Bomb’ seems to be an attack on me, but it’s actually an attempt to reduce my movement and trap me.”

Yang Yu, looking at the small saplings around him, threw his sword into the System and extracted an axe, smashing it hard onto Gyroscope Song Bai’s body.

”This is my revenge. But what should I carve into such a large tree? Should it be ’Yang Yu was here’ or ’Gyroscope Song Bai is a wimp’? Hahaha, I suddenly have a great idea!”

Although Gyroscope Song Bai bled very little, Yang Yu’s current strength was indeed sufficient to leave a mark on him.

”Stop! Just stop! What on earth are you planning to carve? Don’t carve some nonsense on my back!”

Gyroscope Song Bai let out a wail that sounded much too old for his age, while Yang Yu just wickedly laughed, continuing to swing his axe and leave marks on Gyroscope Song Bai’s back.

”I told you to stop, what will it take for you to get off of me?”

”What will it take for me to get off your back?” Yang Yu laughed in a way that resembled the slaughter of a pig. ”You should know very well what I want.”

Gyroscope Song Bai indeed knew what Yang Yu wanted, but...

”I don’t want to lose like this. Look, what if we both make a concession? I’ll withdraw all the forests I’ve grown, and you get off me...”

Yang Yu didn’t respond, but continued to swing his axe like a demon, wanting to leave something on Song Bai’s back.

Fear comes from the unknown.

Yang Yu hadn’t told Gyroscope Song Bai what exactly he wanted to carve onto him.

This was precisely to make Gyroscope Song Bai worry incessantly.

Since he couldn’t quickly destroy Gyroscope Song Bai’s physical body, he would have to destroy his mental defenses.

Gyroscope Song Bai was at a loss, afraid that Yang Yu would carve some shameful things on his back, making it impossible for him to show his face, and even more afraid that Yang Yu wasn’t satisfied with just carving a line, but would engrave countless shameful words.

If because of this, countless people looked at him with strange eyes, he would not have the courage to continue fighting.

After his desperate pleas led nowhere, Gyroscope Song Bai could only say in tears:

”I surrender, I surrender, just don’t carve anything on my back!”
