Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 537: Chapter 537: Complete Collection of Kill Matt Hairstyles

He pulled up a stool for Bai Jin to sit on, Yang Yu had all the hair dyeing tools ready—it was his first time dyeing someone else’s hair, and he felt a little excited inside.

Before, Yang Yu had played a game called Hair Salon Simulator 5.0, through which he gained a superficial understanding of hair dyeing and cutting.

But each game is different, and Yang Yu had no idea how much skill would be required to dye Bai Jin’s hair in this extremely realistic game.

Luckily, Yang Yu had the Non-Mainstream Hairstyle Guide that he had won a long time ago.

When Yang Yu casually flipped through it before, he discovered that the guide actually included little tricks for hair dyeing, which gave him the confidence to dye Bai Jin’s hair.

It wasn’t surprising to Yang Yu that the Non-Mainstream Hairstyle Guide included hair dyeing tricks.

Having hair dyed in all sorts of weird and vivid colors and dancing powerfully at the village entrance with concrete was the signature move of the non-mainstream culture.

What really surprised Yang Yu was that behind the Non-Mainstream Hairstyle Guide there was also an ordinary hairstyle guide.

However, before getting to the normal hairstyle guide, there was a paragraph of long-lost Mars Text, incarnate with a warning from the famous hairstylist, Teacher Tony.

——”Ordinary people cannot even attempt to fathom the depths of the non-mainstream hairstyles, many people are just in it for the profit, rather than the passion for the non-mainstream allure. If they want to return to ordinary styles, don’t block them, let them change if they wish to be soiled no longer.”

Simply translated, it means, ”If you don’t like the non-mainstream, screw off, but still, I want your money.”

It’s indeed simple and crude, disdainful in words but desirous in essence.

Since he was going to dye hair anyway, Yang Yu decided to also tidy up Bai Jin’s hair, which was as disheveled as a bird’s nest—of course, not just to dye less hair.

Bai Jin’s appearance was already known by the Curse Sect, and if she wanted to be active on the battlegrounds between Wansheng Country and Luo Ze Empire, she needed to hide her identity well.

This time, it was a rare chance to change her image.

Go big or go home.

Yang Yu shared his thoughts with Bai Jin and showed her the hairstyles from the Non-Mainstream Hairstyle Guide.

”Pick a hairstyle you like, because for a long time, you might have to keep up the appearance with this hairstyle.”

Holding the Non-Mainstream Hairstyle Guide handed to her by Yang Yu, Bai Jin briefly skimmed through it,

”Yang Yu, what kind of hairstyle do you think suits me?”

Her voice was very soft, almost fading away by the end of her question.

As soon as she finished the question, Bai Jin bashfully turned her blushing face away, her eyes looking unsettled.

”When it comes to what hairstyle suits you, I’m not quite sure either,”

When Yang Yu got his hair cut, it was always a quick shave by the barber so he could hurry home to play games. As a result, he wasn’t too particular about hairstyles; basically, as long as it wasn’t hideously ugly, he was fine with it.

Hearing Yang Yu’s response, Bai Jin hesitated for a moment, clutching the Non-Mainstream Hairstyle Guide tightly in her hands as if she suddenly mustered up the courage, and then, fumblingly, she handed it back to Yang Yu, saying:

”You pick for me, I’ll like whatever you choose...”

Emmm...

Was this an instruction to choose at random? Random is the hardest choice to make when it comes to hairstyles.

Yang Yu stared at Bai Jin for a while, yet he didn’t take the Non-Mainstream Hairstyle Guide from her hands, sensing that something was off.

It wasn’t until he noticed the flushed cheeks barely hidden under Bai Jin’s messy hair that he suddenly realized what was going on.

Bai Jin’s way of putting it, ”Anything that’s yours, I like,” is the most common phrasing used in GALGAME to hint that the female character is interested in the male protagonist...

In other words, this is very likely an event that rapidly boosts Bai Jin’s favor towards oneself.

Thinking of this, Yang Yu felt his ears heating up and quickly knocked on his head to calm himself down.

Yang Yu knew that Bai Jin held favorable feelings for him, but he always considered it the kind of affection that was more than friendship but not quite romance.

Now that Bai Jin had spoken such ambiguous words, it really caught Yang Yu off guard.

However, as the saying goes, there are three great illusions in life, ”I can counter-kill,” ”she likes me,” and ”my phone vibrated.”

”Anything that’s yours, I like” may not necessarily be an expression of romantic feelings and could also be something said between intimate friends.

Yang Yu remembered that friend in the real world, the one who always came to him for games when he had none to play. When Yang Yu asked what type of game he wanted, he would always say, ”Anything you recommend, I like.”

That seemed perfectly normal, but hearing that phrase, Yang Yu always felt like stuffing some heretical games into his friend’s arms and opening the gates to a new world for him.

Unfortunately, Yang Yu never did that in the end.

Without a language recording feature in the game, and given that Bai Jin rarely spoke, Yang Yu couldn’t confirm whether her feelings leaned more towards love or friendship.

To jump to conclusions might create awkwardness between them.

If enemies took advantage of this, it would be over.

After much thought, Yang Yu still buried Bai Jin’s words deep in his heart.

After all, he was still young. According to the setting, he was sixteen when he set out on an adventure, seventeen now, not yet eighteen, and supposed to be twenty when it was time to fight the Demon King...

No, wait, what the hell am I troubled about the marriage age for in a game world?

In traditional Japanese RPGs, after the hero defeats the Demon King, there’s usually a segment where he marries the princess.

The path I’ve taken is the impostor hero’s path, where the hero has nowhere to go.

So, the ending should be something similar to the hero’s...

But what about the princess...

Whenever he thought of the Third Princess of the Luo Ze Empire and Princess Sertis, who accompanied the real hero, Yang Yu felt no interest at all.

With his civilian status, he’d likely end up as a son-in-law, dragged into various political struggles.

With his own abilities, wouldn’t he be grinning crookedly every day as if his smile had gone askew?

So that’s why...

”Then I’ll just pick and cut at random.”

Yang Yu laughed as he took the extreme hair style guide from Bai Jin’s hand, stored it directly in the system, and began cutting with the scissors, being extra careful not to make a mess of Bai Jin’s hair as he groomed her disheveled locks.

After trimming away the bangs that covered half of her face, Yang Yu discovered for the first time that Bai Jin’s face, which had seemed emaciated due to illness, was now full of vitality. The dark circles near her eyes were dispersed by good sleep, and her eyes, as delicate as a doll’s, reflected his silhouette as if he were the only one in Bai Jin’s sight.

”Bai Jin, after cutting your bangs, I’ve realized you’ve gained weight,”

Yang Yu said as he snipped Bai Jin’s bangs shorter, causing her face to instantly redden. She tried to hide her face by twisting her neck and pouting her lips as if looking for somewhere to bury herself.

”Don’t misunderstand, I just meant you’ve gotten a lot healthier,” Yang Yu said with a smile, ”Sit still and have a bit more confidence in yourself.”

”Mhm.”
