Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 514: Chapter 514: It’s Okay to Be Willful Once in a While

Everyone cocked their heads, ”Something interesting?”

”I can’t say now,” Yang Yu spoke mysteriously, ”After all, to verify my conjecture, it needs a little time.”

Then Yang Yu looked toward Lotcar, ”Lotcar, you must have noticed the current situation as well, right? That’s why you chose to seek me out now.”

Lotcar nodded, ”I estimate the moment we leave the Plant Clan’s territory, we’re likely to be attacked on the way.”

”Just as I thought.”

As Yang Yu spoke, he opened the mission panel again. On the task interface, the reward was shown as paid, but the task was not marked as completed, and there were no penalty items listed.

This was the first time Yang Yu had encountered such a situation.

”Lotcar, how is your revenge coming along? You haven’t become the Clan Leader yet; why were you able to take the Racial Essence out?”

Lotcar closed his eyes, but his face showed no remorse,

”This Racial Essence, I borrowed... stole it from the office. I thought it might help you, so I took a bit of a risk and stole it.”

”Stolen?”

Lotcar looked at Yang Yu, a slight smile appearing on his face, without a trace of regret,

”Once I was a candidate for the Clan Leader of the Silver Teeth Clan, of course I knew where our race keeps its Racial Essence, and I also knew when our clan members are in deep sleep. For me, stealing it wasn’t difficult.”

”What I mean is, the Racial Essence is very important to a race, you clearly have not yet cleared the suspicion, and now you have committed such a crime...”

Before Yang Yu could finish asking, Lotcar answered his question,

”Undoubtedly, I will lose the qualification to contest for the position of Clan Leader.”

Yang Yu looked at Lotcar, his finger lingering on the task labeled ”Lotcar’s Revenge,”

”You just handed over the item to me, are you not afraid that I might take it and not do the job?”

”I know you are not that kind of person.”

Yang Yu recalled the words Lotcar had once said to him.

Lotcar had always believed that Yang Yu would be able to accomplish his revenge for him, and even if he died, Yang Yu would carry on with his will and persevere until the revenge was complete.

”I’m sorry,” Lotcar bowed his head, ”I made a decision on my own, again.”

”No need to apologize like that. True, it may not be a wise decision, but, from the beginning, you decided to bear the consequences that would arise from making such a choice, showing your determination. I can see why the Old Clan Chief still chooses you as the candidate for the Clan Leader, even now.”

Yang Yu moved closer to Lotcar, gently stroking Lotcar’s fur,

”However, it’s still as I initially told you. This is your revenge, if it is not carried out by your own hands, there will always be some regret.”

Lotcar grinned at Yang Yu, ”I think so too, even if I lose the qualification to become the Clan Leader, I will still accomplish my revenge. I absolutely can’t let that person become the Clan Leader, even if it costs me my life.”

Ahhh...

Yang Yu gazed at the sky and let out a long sigh; he wasn’t entirely a player driven by profit.

If there were other players in this game, others would know that they could get the Racial Essence this easily, they would’ve taken it and fled long ago, not caring about Lotcar’s fate.

But...

This task must be completed.

However, that’s not bad either, just thoroughly enjoy this world, and it’s okay to be a little impulsive sometimes.

Looking at Lotcar, Iyas felt an indescribable emotion in her heart.

Even though Lotcar hadn’t known Yang Yu as long as she had, why was he able to trust Yang Yu to such an extent?

Every time she thought of what had happened in the past, Iyas couldn’t help but want to punch herself in the head hard for her past self’s actions.

”Yang Yu, you should realize the situation as well, right? The Curse Sect’s people have already set up an ambush on our way back.

Although I don’t know why they didn’t attack us after we entered the Plant Clan’s territory, if we swagger back to the Silver Teeth Clan’s village like this, we’re likely to suffer an unprecedentedly horrific attack.”

”There’s no need to repeat what’s been said.” Yang Yu fiddled with the system interface, ”Are you scared? Your Holy Light’s power is the very weapon that restrains Darkness the most, yet you’re scared?”

”Ha?” Iyas raised her eyebrows, ”I’m not scared at all! I’m telling you, I am now ready to sacrifice everything for the team, just like Lotcar. I am not the same person I used to be.”

”But I always feel that after rescuing your brother, you’ve become timid while following in our team.”

”Have I...”

Iyas hesitated for a moment, and at this time Yang Yu tossed Iyas a longbow with wings and casually entered Iyas’s team interface to allocate all her free attribute points.

Although Yang Yu added quite a bit of endurance to Iyas, her mana was still touching, but her stamina could now support her for a long duration of combat.

”If there really has been a change, then show it to me in the battle to come.”

Holding the bow and arrows Yang Yu had thrown, Iyas nodded; to prove that she truly had grown wasn’t something that could be achieved just by talking. From now on, she could only repay this kindness with her own actions.

Not noticing the determination in Iyas’s eyes, Yang Yu continued to search through the system, tossing a scepter to Bai Jin,

”Bai Jin, just make do with this scepter!”

The weapon Yang Yu gave to Bai Jin was indeed the Star Clan’s scepter. Although she couldn’t use the Passive ”Star Eye Resonance,” it had the effect of ”Broken Army Emperor” which could maximize output when being surrounded by multiple enemies.

Bai Jin had the ”Ghost Shadow Formation” from the Curse Magic System, which could defensively handle close-ranged attacks, so it was barely compatible.

Originally, Yang Yu had a better weapon, the ”Legendary Magic Wand Sigh Seed,” but unfortunately, it required 2000+ Intelligence to equip.

Even if Bai Jin allocated all of her free attribute points into intelligence, she would not come close to that requirement, so Yang Yu simply added her free attribute points into endurance and speed instead.

[Bai Jin Level: LV71

Bai Jin’s Level had unwittingly surpassed seventy, with all her values steadily rising; 1367 Intelligence meant that just using high-powered magic could finish the harvest.

Immediately after, Yang Yu asked Bai Jin to extend her hand and took out a pile of white stones from the system, placing them in Bai Jin’s hand.

Those were the ”Fairy’s Magic Stones” that Yang Yu got from the Fairy, said to significantly enhance the strength of magic. The extent of the enhancement depended on the quality of the ”Fairy’s Magic Stone”.
