Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

49: Chapter 49 Infiltrating the Research Institute 49: Chapter 49 Infiltrating the Research Institute Leaving the introduction place, it was already nighttime outside.

Bai Jin and Yang Yu followed Slarate, riding in a carriage and taking advantage of the dark to arrive at a secluded corner of the city.

Stepping down from the carriage, the sky twinkled with countless stars, and the city’s encompassing walls were right in front of them, with the iron gate standing beside them being the entrance to Silver Orchid Commerce’s research institute.

The research institute looked much like a gigantic villa, divided into two floors—brightly lit and standing in the middle of an open, lush green lawn.

Yang Yu had thought they would be taken to some desolate wilderness to enter a castle-like secret research institute.

In the end, they had not even left the city gates.

Initially, Yang Yu wondered how he would be able to run back to the city to turn in the task.

Looking around, he realized that this place wasn’t too far from the task handover location.

The entire research institute was surrounded by iron fences.

The lawn was empty, with no cover, and people patrolled back and forth.

It felt like the moment one escaped from the institute, a bright beam of light would shoot down from the top of the institute, leaving no place to hide.

How could one escape from such a research institute?

Yang Yu had discussed potential escape routes with Tela.

According to the aerial view of the institute provided by Tela, the best route of escape was along the city wall.

There was a pond inside the institute that scarcely anyone patrolled.

“Does it feel a bit different from the research institute you imagined?” Slarate said with a smug expression.

“Ah!

It feels less like a research institute and more like a prison,” Yang Yu quipped.

“People often say that,” Slarate greeted the duty officer with a nod and gestured for the two to follow.

“Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it soon.

Once our new drug is completed, this place will no longer resemble a prison.”

And we will no longer need you.

Slarate did not voice that thought, but as a civilian, Yang Yu understood; in these mysterious research institutes, those non-organizational participants without any special contributions were often disposed of for “knowing too much.”

Yang Yu glanced at the patrolling guards and pointed to them, “The job we’re doing, is it just strolling around like them, and we get paid for that?”

“It’s not as simple as you think.

I’ll take you to meet your supervisor; just follow her orders.”

Slarate led Yang Yu into the research institute with a smirk.

First floor of the research institute.

In the spacious hall, dozens of workbenches were set up with a Herb Master in a white coat at each, using various instruments to concoct different potions.

Trolleys constantly brought materials and took away finished products, creating a bustling and industrious atmosphere, filled with the scent of capitalism.

As Yang Yu was looking around, a voluptuous redhead approached him, her entire being radiating mature feminine charm, her voice carrying a hint of magnetism.

“So this is the new guy?

What a charming young man.”

The redhead threw a flirtatious wink at Yang Yu.

Damn it, this woman actually threw a charm spell at me the moment we met.

The intel given by Tela didn’t include anything about her.

The Giant Umbrella Chamber of Commerce is really a small fry, it’s a huge pit, and their intelligence department is full of slackers!

Looking at the charm Status on the Status Bar, Yang Yu secretly clicked his tongue.

“Hello, I am the instructor here, named Asuna.” As she spoke, Asuna drew close to Yang Yu, her slender fingers gently caressing his cheek, her eyes focusing on him like a serpent eyes its prey, “We have many rules here, and the most important one is, no!

spies!

shall!

sneak!

in!

If any spies do make their way here, we will show no mercy in dealing with them.”

“Okay, Asuna…

Master…” Yang Yu’s lips couldn’t help but move on their own.

Asuna couldn’t help but smile as she looked towards Bai Jin, who seemed to be in the same ‘Status’ as Yang Yu, staring at Asuna with hearts in his eyes and a silly, goofy smile on his face.

“Master Asuna, you look so beautiful today.

I will follow you forever, I would even lay down my life for you without hesitation.”

Perhaps Bai Jin’s smile was too sinister, Asuna glanced at him and then turned her gaze back to Yang Yu’s face, which was more pleasing to the eye.

“What you need to do is to absolutely obey my commands.

Now, tell me, just who sent you here!”

Her magnetic voice pierced through Yang Yu’s heart like a sugar-coated bullet, making it seem as if the woman standing before him was his everything.

For her, he would willingly become a fawning sycophant.

“Actually…

actually…

no one sent us!

We were attracted by Master Asuna’s beauty and came here on our own!”

“Actually, we…”

Bai Jin’s eyes sparkled, sensing an opportunity to show off.

He was about to speak when Yang Yu drowned him out with an even louder voice.

“No, I was wrong.

What I just said was flawed, it was an offense to Master Asuna.

Actually, we were born into this world to serve Master Asuna.

From the moment of my birth, I have been looking forward to meeting Master Asuna, to offer up everything.” Yang Yu stretched out both hands, tightly grasping Asuna’s, “Master Asuna, I won’t say anymore, would you marry me!

Only if you become my wife, can I serve you better!”

Slap—

Bai Jin slapped Yang Yu and Asuna’s hands apart.

“Get lost!” Bai Jin’s roar echoed in the hall, “Don’t think that just because you have some strength, you can touch Master Asuna with your filthy hands.

Do you think just anyone can touch Master Asuna?

Her beauty is unique, and I won’t allow anyone to monopolize her!”

“Heh.

It is precisely because Master Asuna is unique in this world that I want to possess her, to offer everything.

To accept everything about her, that is everything to me!”

“What nonsense are you talking about!?

How could you bear to possess such beauty.” Bai Jin was on the verge of going mad, “If you really want to possess it, I curse you!

I will curse you regardless of the cost!

Ahahaha, just think of how you will look living in a big cauldron with lizards, toads, dry snakes, all sorts of poisons, and you in it.

It will definitely make a unique Magic Potion, and become a part of nourishing Master Asuna’s beauty.”

Asuna shuddered and goosebumps sprouted on her skin.

Yang Yu pulled out a “Long Stick”, “Oh, is that so?

Bring it on!

Do you think you can beat me?”

Bai Jin picked up a “Magic Wand”, “Hehehe, that’s not certain.

Do you think I’ve worked with you for so long for nothing?

I know your weaknesses inside out!”

The atmosphere instantly became tense, the air filled with the scent of gunpowder, ready to ignite at a moment’s notice.

“Cough—Don’t argue in the institute, this is an order.” Asuna cleared her throat, “You all have the opportunity to serve me, follow that soldier over there to your rooms.

Clothes, I have already prepared them for you.

The soldiers will teach you all the rules here.

Abide by the rules and do things right, that will be the best service to me, that’s an order.”

“We will follow your command, Master Asuna!”

At the command of Asuna, Yang Yu and Bai Jin immediately put down their weapons and stopped arguing.

They bowed respectfully to Asuna, and then, with reluctance, followed the soldiers.
