Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

37: Chapter 37 What kind of junk is this 37: Chapter 37 What kind of junk is this The stronghold stirred up dust, and the elite assassin goblin squad responsible for Zone F saw it from a distance.

A few elite assassin goblins felt uneasy, gathering around their captain, “Captain, something seems to have happened at the stronghold.

Should we go back and check it out?”

“No need, the lord there will surely handle it, perhaps it’s the last resistance of the arrogant humans.

Don’t forget the lord’s orders, standby in this forest, if you encounter humans, kill on sight, unless the lord personally sends someone to notify us, otherwise do not abandon your post.”

“Yes!”

The elite assassin goblin captain lowered his gaze and once again hid within the forest; all he could do was trust in his king, believe that his king could indeed lead the goblins to flourishing once again.

…

As the dust settled, each rescue team member was covered in grime, the recent explosion had leveled many goblins.

The surviving goblins were finished off one by one by the adventurers who got back on their feet.

Sekamens anxiously searched for Yang Yu’s figure; Yang Yu had been the closest to the epicenter of the explosion and received the biggest brunt of it.

It was inevitable that he might be in trouble, but after search for a while, Sekamens saw no trace of Yang Yu.

He wasn’t swept into the core of the explosion and turned into dust, was he?

Grief surged in Sekamens’ heart, the thought of someone as excellent as himself sacrificing his young life for the whole world brought tears to his eyes.

His grief didn’t last long; he knew he still had things to do, that was to check on the imprisoned adventurer comrades, and also to see if the warrior’s tutor, Andro, was safe and sound.

Taking only a few steps towards the wooden hut turned ruins, the familiar irascible voice of the old brother came through the smoke.

“What kind of junk is all this, not even a piece of purple equipment?

Are the things it’s wearing and holding really the best equipment it has here?”

“Ahahaha, worthy of Sir Yang Yu, you’ve easily handled an opponent even I couldn’t beat.

Help yourself to the spoils here, I believe everyone won’t mind.”

“I don’t need this stuff, it won’t sell for much.” Yang Yu looked disdainful.

White gear wouldn’t sell for much, especially since these pieces had some defects.

Rather than waste effort selling white gear, it was better to take on a few tasks, draw a few prizes, then use his own smarts to sell everything and get rich overnight.

“Hahaha, Sir Yang Yu is too modest, well then, let’s leave these things to the adventurers who came along as spoils of war!”

“Whatever.

You guys split it, I’m off to let the people out.” Yang Yu weighed the key in his hand and walked through the scattered wooden planks, stepping out of the dust.

“Wait for me, Sir Yang Yu, I’ll go too, let’s talk about spoils distribution after we get the missing adventurers out of the cages.”

Andro, with two dazed priests tucked under his arm, walked towards the cages now thrown into disarray, freeing the trapped adventurers one by one and treating their injuries.

Sekamens’ worries were completely unnecessary.

Of course, Yang Yu was not completely uninjured; when the explosion swept over him, he activated “Interception” to block the damage.

Sadly, the explosion was too massive and sustained as an AOE, so even taking only 10% of the damage, his Blood Volume and Physical Strength rapidly bottomed out.

He had no choice but to rely on the Herbal Medicine he had on him to endure; thanks to this, his Antidrug Resistance smoothly increased from 10% to 20%.

But that wasn’t the only reason he survived; primarily, the explosion blew him away from the epicenter, and he found a large tree to use as cover before “Interception” ended, and that’s how he managed to stay alive.

Releasing the grimy, dust-coated adventurers one by one from their cages, Yang Yu’s urgent task on his system came to an end, and with it, the penalty to his experience vanished.

The Experience Bar that was almost full before the battle now finally filled up.

Although the task experience had halved because the reward was advanced, 4000 experience was enough to smoothly level Yang Yu up to Level 21…

It should have been so.

However…

the System’s voice rang in Yang Yu’s mind, still full of joy, congratulating the player with an upbeat BGM playing in the background.

“Congratulations to the player for reaching the Level cap for the first time.

As a reward, the System will provide you with an additional 100 free attribute points and a chance to draw a lottery.”

Level cap?

I’ve reached the Level cap so soon?

Yang Yu’s gaze returned to the System’s attribute interface.

Level 20 is actually the Level cap, Yang Yu was dumbfounded.

To reach full Level and overflow by an entire level’s worth of experience caused him distress, but at the same time he felt somewhat relieved.

Luckily, he had completed that emergency rescue mission first; had he completed the source extermination mission, he feared he would truly be crying.

…

A slim figure wove through the forest, covered in fresh blood and dust, even having lost an arm.

“Damn it, damn it, damn it!

This is infuriating!

Those despicable humans dared to destroy my perfect plan.”

This frail goblin was the Goblin King, Jane Ragi Cide.

It had survived.

Unlike its previous majestic appearance in splendid Armor, it was now extremely weak, like it had been more than a decade ago—this was its true form.

The Explosion wasn’t actually a self-destruct.

What was destroyed was the body it took many years to create so it could wear human high-quality Armor.

Sadly, despite controlling the main direction of the Explosion, it got caught in it and lost an arm, but to the Goblin King, that didn’t matter.

As long as it lived, there was still hope.

Everything would start from zero.

It would not make the same mistakes again; it would make new plans, rise bit by bit, and take revenge on the man who shattered all its dreams.

“As long as I hide there, I’ll be fine.

Just like before, I can heal in that horrifying cave and maybe even find treasures inside.

Only thirty of the assassination squad remains—enough, with their help, to still control the other goblin tribes.

This time, I will move beyond this forest to unite all the goblins within and find the treasure left by the great emperor to lead the goblins through evolution.

And after that, thorough revenge on the humans, settling both old and new grudges.”

Watching the familiar cave entrance appear before its eyes, the Goblin King’s lips curled into a vicious smile.

Suddenly, a purple light shot out from the cave entrance, enveloping it; then, relentless Long Spears flew out from the cave, mercilessly piercing through the body of the Goblin King.
