Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

4: Chapter 4: Addicted to Farming, Unable to Extricate Oneself 4: Chapter 4: Addicted to Farming, Unable to Extricate Oneself “You have defeated Su Liang (Villager) LV2 and gained Experience Value 20, Level UP, lv1 ==> lv2

HP: 40/40 MP: 36/36 Physical Strength: 20/25

Strength 8, Defense 5, Intelligence 8, Special Defense 4, agility 14, charm 3, Endurance 4, Luck 1

Free Attribute Points: 10”

The Experience Value was just enough for a level up, he didn’t have to kill the opponent, making him concede was also a way to gain Experience, which gave plenty of room for manipulation.

In the future, he might make entire armies concede and harvest Experience directly.

Upon receiving this information, Yang Yu couldn’t stay happy for long, especially after seeing the poor growth rate, he couldn’t even smile.

Following this trend, even if he trained smoothly to level 20, he wasn’t sure if he could defeat a Lv5 Slime.

“It really is difficult being a civilian, growing up is quite tough.”

Even at the same level, each race has different attributes.

Even within the same race, some people are destined to be exceptional.

However, it had a distinct flavor to defeat those who thought they were exceptionally talented by relying on his own efforts.

After a little episode, Yang Yu returned home, and Lisa dashed out from behind the counter, fussing over him, and finally relaxed after ensuring her son was unharmed.

“I’m just relieved you’re not hurt.

I’ve always told you you’re not cut out for that sort of thing, better to just come back and inherit the family assets.”

The skinny Kari stood straight in front of the counter without speaking, glancing at Yang Yu.

The scene of their argument that morning was still fresh in his mind, and to avoid the continued tension, he had suggested that Yang Yu give up by setting the task of defeating the Slime.

But now, seeing Yang Yu’s unyielding eyes, he knew his son was serious about his earlier words.

Defeat was inevitable, and Kari shook his head and was about to encourage his son when Yang Yu spoke first.

“Father, I hope you can give me a piece of farmland.”

To defeat the Slime, a Four-Leaf Clover was indispensable.

Given the scarcity of wild Four-Leaf Clovers and the risks of failing, a large and stable supply of Four-Leaf Clovers was essential.

With the Passive Skill of Farming, Yang Yu naturally thought of cultivating a large number of Four-Leaf Clovers.

Four-Leaf Clover is a rare variant of the Clover.

For most variants, the shape they carry is inheritable, like the black rose and white rose among roses, or the white Bengal tiger among animals; the trait of a Four-Leaf Clover is likely inheritable too, just requiring proper seedling selection and cultivation to create an inexhaustible supply of Four-Leaf Clovers.

The problem was, in both his game world and his own world, both Clover and Four-Leaf Clover were considered weeds, and only foolish people would use good farmland to grow Four-Leaf Clovers.

Planting Four-Leaf Clovers would undoubtedly be scoffed at by others.

But as a true gamer, the strategy came first, and Yang Yu didn’t care what the NPCs thought.

Although Kari didn’t know exactly what his son was thinking, he knew his son’s determination.

Perhaps farming was just a means for him to improve himself, and once he felt strong enough, that would be the time to leave.

In the meantime, this could also help Lisa adjust, especially since this morning had been so abrupt.

Without much hesitation, Kari generously gave him a plot of land.

From then on, Yang Yu left home early and returned late every day, searching the forest for Four-Leaf Clover plants, transplanting them to his field, and diligently tilling with his hoe.

He had played many farming simulation games, naturally coming into contact with numerous farming simulators and deeply understanding the essence of farming.

To improve efficiency, he often went to work at Kari’s, exchanging labor for magic tools that accelerated the growth of herbs to increase production.

Occasionally, Four-Leaf Clovers in the field would revert back to Clovers, or a plant would bear both Clovers and Four-Leaf Clovers; in these cases, he would mercilessly swing his hoe to cut and root out these plants, avoiding these “neither here nor there” Mixed Cultivation from corrupting the other plants.

He had also specially cleared all the other clovers around the field, installed insect nets, and kept a box of bees for pollination to prevent his little darlings from being tempted away, ensuring the clovers he cultivated were of pure bloodline.

In this way, addicted to farming and unable to extricate himself, he gradually lost weight, and time flew by, with a year passing in a blink.

The field, originally overgrown with weeds, was now covered with large patches of clovers.

The legendary clovers, which supposedly appeared only one in a hundred thousand, were now easily obtainable.

Unfortunately, planting the luck-supposed clovers every day did not increase Yang Yu’s luck, but he didn’t come up empty-handed; his attributes and experience had seen a transformative increase.

[Name: Yang Yu (Rolling Potato) Level: LV2 Experience: 48/50

HP: 54/54 MP: 40/40 Physical Strength: 40/40

Strength 12, Defense 8, Intelligence 11, Special Defense 7, Agility 15, Charm 5, Endurance 7, Luck 1

Free attribute points: 10]

Continuous farming not only increased his attributes as if he had leveled up, but his experience had also significantly increased, being just one step away from reaching lv3.

Even without battling, he found ways to gain experience; even without leveling up, certain attributes could still be improved, indicating that reaching the maximum level wasn’t the end—perhaps there were ways in the game to become stronger.

Maybe just by doing daily push-ups, sit-ups, 100 squats, and running 10km, one could lose hair and gain strength, becoming a being who could annihilate both heaven and earth.

After a year of farming, Yang Yu’s passive skill [Farming] had upgraded to [Farming Still Suits Old Me], gaining a 50% increase in yield.

Furthermore, his first active skill quietly blossomed in his hands, proving that hard work was worthwhile.

[Clover Cultivation]: MP Cost 1; as long as you have a part of a clover, you can cultivate clover anytime, anywhere.

At first glance, it was a very redundant skill; in fact, it was a quite redundant skill.

However, thanks to this silly skill, he was able to cultivate so many clovers in just one year.

“Hmm—speaking of which, why did I plant so many clovers…”

Surveying the blooming white clover garden, Yang Yu sat on the bee box and fell into deep thought.

If it were not for the task of convincing his parents, he would have indeed forgotten why he planted so many clovers; it was to strategize against the Slime.

Farming is indeed fearsome.

With more than enough clovers, it was time to boost his combat power.

Like a tornado destroying a parking lot, Yang Yu swept through the entire Newbie Village, engaging everyone from toddlers just learning to speak to staggering old people in battles.

Of course, many battles were merely symbolic, waving around thin wooden sticks.

Since gaining experience was possible just by the opponent conceding, there was no need to fight those who couldn’t possibly win against him.

A mosquito might be small, but it’s still meat; even for one experience point, Yang Yu greedily devoured all he could get, his level skyrocketing from lv2 to lv5.

[HP: 150/150 MP: 60/60 Physical Strength: 90

Strength 32, Defense 27, Intelligence 16, Special Defense 11, Agility 21, Charm 8, Endurance 25, Luck 1 (not upgradable)

Free attribute points: 0]

With the 40 free attribute points gained from leveling up, Yang Yu evenly distributed them between increasing his strength for attacks, bolstering his defense to reduce physical damage, and enhancing his endurance to boost his health, stamina, and MP.

Even so, the attributes for a civilian level lv5 were still sore on the eyes.

Moreover, luck showing as non-upgradable blatantly told Yang Yu that transitioning from Africa to Europe in his life was non-existent.

Initially, in the late stages of the game, he wanted to invest a massive amount of free attribute points in luck for a chance to experience a Luck Emperor’s magnificent life with every attack being a critical hit.

Now, he only felt the game’s malice towards Africans.
